  1. > Quick as a flash Twilight's horn glows, as does the window on which Pinkie is attatched like a grinning limpet mine.
  2. > The window rotates on it's horizontal axis and with a *squeeeek* Pinkie slides face first into the Library.
  3. > She lands with a *krumpf* behind the small couch you previously hid behind, causing a small eruption of books in the process.
  4. > Silence.
  5. > Broken by you asking as you approach the couch
  6. " ...Is she ok?"
  7. > With a sudden blur of motion, the pink p0ny hurdles the couch and lands not more than an arms reach away from you.
  8. > You leap backwards in shock, flailing your arms in an uncoordinated panic.
  9. > "Ah ha!" Pinkie exclaims, standing on her rear legs and pointing an accusatory forehoof in your direction.
  10. > "Ah ha ha ha!" She gives a triumphant grin as she turns, aiming the hoof of accusation at an approaching Twilight.
  11. > She doesn't seem sure what she's accusing anyone of, but the idea seems wedged right in there now.
  12. > "Pinkie, I..." Twilight begins sheepishly, but trails off as she tries to figure out what to tell her friend.
  13. > "Why wouldn't you tell me, Twi?" Pinkie's grin falls slowly and her pointing hoof slowly lowers to hang just a little off the floor.
  14. > Looking downwards, she begins to trace a little circle on the floor with the still hanging hoof,
  15.
  16.
  17. > Oddly you'd swear you can hear the sound of something deflating nearby.
  18. > She then looks up at Twilight with a smile.
  19. > "Oh, I get it! You're keeping it secret so you can surprise me! I've always wanted to meet a... a..."
  20. > Pinkie looks at you, cocking her head on one side, appraising.
  21. > You notice that the smile hasn't quite reached her eyes.
  22. > "Well, I don't know what it is, but I'm sure it's nice!... and you wouldn't want to spoil a surprise, right? that's right isn't it?"
  23. > She begins to explain, as much to herself, how it all makes sense now.
  24. > The speed of the word barrage is there again and you lose track quickly, but even you can tell that the bubbliness has been replaced by something else.
  25. > You can almost see the straws she's grasping for.
  26. > "Pinkie, please, just listen."
  27. > The pink mare stops, the smile all but gone.
  28. > "I didn't want to keep a secret from you. You're one of my best friends. I'd trust you with anything... It's like Spike said though, I made a promise."
  29. > "... a pinkie promise?" asks Pinkie quietly.
  30. > Twilight considers a moment, scrunching up her muzzle.
  31. > "Well, not exactly, but an important promise." She then hastily adds "oh! not as important as a pinkie promise though."
  32. > A little smile finds its way onto the pink mare's lips.
  33. " Do you mind If I say something?"
  34.
  35.
  36. > The two mares turn their attention onto you.
  37. > Still not sure what you're going to say, but you have to do something.
  38. > This p0ny was willing to open her home to a stranger without question.
  39. > Causing trouble with her friends is the last thing you want to do to repay such kindness.
  40. " I came here from Canterlot. The falling star you saw? that was me..."
  41. > "He's a funny shape for a star..." Pinkie whispers to Twilight from behind a conspiratorially raised hoof.
  42. " A night flight in a shiny chariot. I'm no star, believe me."
  43. " I needed to... I needed to be somewhere that wasn't Canterlot."
  44. > You shrug not wanting to elaborate further, however the pink p0ny nods as if she understands how Canterlot sometimes doesn't live up to expectations.
  45. " Princess Celestia was kind enough to ask her student here to give me a place to stay"
  46. > "The Princess asked me to keep everything secret for a while. Just until he was settled." Twilight adds, softly.
  47. > The pink mare turns to her friend with a relieved look and the beginnings of a genuine smile.
  48. > You decide to withdraw from the two and give them room to talk, having already intruded enough.
  49. > You sit on the couch, which spike is nearby tidying up the debris of literature caused by Pinkies unplanned enterance.
  50. > Things seem to be going well between Twilight and Pinkie.
  51. > She's already bouncing a little as she talks.
  52. > You lean back with a sigh, eyes closing, tired by the night that never seems to end.
  53. > It's not done with you yet.
  54. > Something damp squirms against your leg.
  55.
  56.
  57. > You open one eye and slowly look down.
  58. > Two purple eyes stare back from between your thigh and the arm of the couch.
  59. "aaagh!"
  60. > You fall away from the... thing, slipping from the couch as it scuttles along your leg and up onto your torso.
  61. > SCUTTLES
  62. > Nothing that scuttled ever turned out to be good.
  63. > You find youself on your back staring down your chest at...
  64. > ... at a small alligator.
  65. > Wearing a sodden blue and yellow tracksuit.
  66. > ... and a matching sweatband on his scaly brow.
  67. > Gummy slowly ripple-blinks his eyes as he gives you a big, toothless, shit eating grin.
  68. > A pink poof of a mane and smiling face appears from above.
  69. > "Look, you're making friends already!" giggles Pinkie.
  70. > Twilight begins to lead her friend back towards the door.
  71. > Second times a charm.
  72. > With a supressed snicker Spike helps you back to your feet.
  73. > Strong little feller.
  74. > Twilight stops at the door and hugs her friend.
  75. > "Now remember what I said Pinkie. Princess Celestia said it would be best if our guest was to remain anonymous while he was here..."
  76. > "Okie dokie lokie!" She responds chirpily.
  77. > The door clicks shut as you are led by Spike to your guestroom.
  78.
  79.
  80. > Morning.
  81. > You were awoken by the song of birds in the branches of the living librarytree.
  82. > Last night you collapsed face first on your bed and slept immediately, despite all four of your limbs hanging over the edges.
  83. > Small as the bed was, it turned out to be exactly what you needed.
  84. > To the smell of some kind of pancake you amble into the library.
  85. > You can hear a muffled, young voice singing to itself somewhere.
  86. > Spike must be cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
  87. > As you head in that direction, following your nose, you notice Twilight standing near the frontdoor to the library, peering out of the side window.
  88. "Good morning miss Sparkle."
  89. > She jumps at your voice, turning quickly and responding "Good morning! Didyousleepwell? Good! I betyourhungry. straighttothekitchenthen."
  90. > Uhoh.
  91. > Spidey sense is tingling.
  92. > "Spikescookingpancakesandyouwouldn'twantcoldpancakes, who'dwantcoldpacakesright?HAHA!"
  93. > You've seen that rictus grin before.
  94. > You walk towards the window as Twilight makes a "Mmm" noises and tries to guide you towards the kitchen with gestures.
  95. > You pass her and she sags, her head low and her fringe covering her eyes.
  96. > Drawing aside the curtain you look outside onto your first look at p0nyville by daylight.
  97. > There's Pinkie.
  98. > There's about a whole village worth of p0nies and a few extra to spare.
  99. > They're all looking at the house expectantly.
  100. > Standing underneath a huge banner that says...
  101. > "WELCOME TO P0NYVILLE ANONYMOUS!"
  102. > You and Twilight peform your first synchronised facepalm/hoof of many.
