- > Quick as a flash Twilight's horn glows, as does the window on which Pinkie is attatched like a grinning limpet mine.
- > The window rotates on it's horizontal axis and with a *squeeeek* Pinkie slides face first into the Library.
- > She lands with a *krumpf* behind the small couch you previously hid behind, causing a small eruption of books in the process.
- > Silence.
- > Broken by you asking as you approach the couch
- " ...Is she ok?"
- > With a sudden blur of motion, the pink p0ny hurdles the couch and lands not more than an arms reach away from you.
- > You leap backwards in shock, flailing your arms in an uncoordinated panic.
- > "Ah ha!" Pinkie exclaims, standing on her rear legs and pointing an accusatory forehoof in your direction.
- > "Ah ha ha ha!" She gives a triumphant grin as she turns, aiming the hoof of accusation at an approaching Twilight.
- > She doesn't seem sure what she's accusing anyone of, but the idea seems wedged right in there now.
- > "Pinkie, I..." Twilight begins sheepishly, but trails off as she tries to figure out what to tell her friend.
- > "Why wouldn't you tell me, Twi?" Pinkie's grin falls slowly and her pointing hoof slowly lowers to hang just a little off the floor.
- > Looking downwards, she begins to trace a little circle on the floor with the still hanging hoof,
- > Oddly you'd swear you can hear the sound of something deflating nearby.
- > She then looks up at Twilight with a smile.
- > "Oh, I get it! You're keeping it secret so you can surprise me! I've always wanted to meet a... a..."
- > Pinkie looks at you, cocking her head on one side, appraising.
- > You notice that the smile hasn't quite reached her eyes.
- > "Well, I don't know what it is, but I'm sure it's nice!... and you wouldn't want to spoil a surprise, right? that's right isn't it?"
- > She begins to explain, as much to herself, how it all makes sense now.
- > The speed of the word barrage is there again and you lose track quickly, but even you can tell that the bubbliness has been replaced by something else.
- > You can almost see the straws she's grasping for.
- > "Pinkie, please, just listen."
- > The pink mare stops, the smile all but gone.
- > "I didn't want to keep a secret from you. You're one of my best friends. I'd trust you with anything... It's like Spike said though, I made a promise."
- > "... a pinkie promise?" asks Pinkie quietly.
- > Twilight considers a moment, scrunching up her muzzle.
- > "Well, not exactly, but an important promise." She then hastily adds "oh! not as important as a pinkie promise though."
- > A little smile finds its way onto the pink mare's lips.
- " Do you mind If I say something?"
- > The two mares turn their attention onto you.
- > Still not sure what you're going to say, but you have to do something.
- > This p0ny was willing to open her home to a stranger without question.
- > Causing trouble with her friends is the last thing you want to do to repay such kindness.
- " I came here from Canterlot. The falling star you saw? that was me..."
- > "He's a funny shape for a star..." Pinkie whispers to Twilight from behind a conspiratorially raised hoof.
- " A night flight in a shiny chariot. I'm no star, believe me."
- " I needed to... I needed to be somewhere that wasn't Canterlot."
- > You shrug not wanting to elaborate further, however the pink p0ny nods as if she understands how Canterlot sometimes doesn't live up to expectations.
- " Princess Celestia was kind enough to ask her student here to give me a place to stay"
- > "The Princess asked me to keep everything secret for a while. Just until he was settled." Twilight adds, softly.
- > The pink mare turns to her friend with a relieved look and the beginnings of a genuine smile.
- > You decide to withdraw from the two and give them room to talk, having already intruded enough.
- > You sit on the couch, which spike is nearby tidying up the debris of literature caused by Pinkies unplanned enterance.
- > Things seem to be going well between Twilight and Pinkie.
- > She's already bouncing a little as she talks.
- > You lean back with a sigh, eyes closing, tired by the night that never seems to end.
- > It's not done with you yet.
- > Something damp squirms against your leg.
- > You open one eye and slowly look down.
- > Two purple eyes stare back from between your thigh and the arm of the couch.
- "aaagh!"
- > You fall away from the... thing, slipping from the couch as it scuttles along your leg and up onto your torso.
- > SCUTTLES
- > Nothing that scuttled ever turned out to be good.
- > You find youself on your back staring down your chest at...
- > ... at a small alligator.
- > Wearing a sodden blue and yellow tracksuit.
- > ... and a matching sweatband on his scaly brow.
- > Gummy slowly ripple-blinks his eyes as he gives you a big, toothless, shit eating grin.
- > A pink poof of a mane and smiling face appears from above.
- > "Look, you're making friends already!" giggles Pinkie.
- > Twilight begins to lead her friend back towards the door.
- > Second times a charm.
- > With a supressed snicker Spike helps you back to your feet.
- > Strong little feller.
- > Twilight stops at the door and hugs her friend.
- > "Now remember what I said Pinkie. Princess Celestia said it would be best if our guest was to remain anonymous while he was here..."
- > "Okie dokie lokie!" She responds chirpily.
- > The door clicks shut as you are led by Spike to your guestroom.
- > Morning.
- > You were awoken by the song of birds in the branches of the living librarytree.
- > Last night you collapsed face first on your bed and slept immediately, despite all four of your limbs hanging over the edges.
- > Small as the bed was, it turned out to be exactly what you needed.
- > To the smell of some kind of pancake you amble into the library.
- > You can hear a muffled, young voice singing to itself somewhere.
- > Spike must be cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
- > As you head in that direction, following your nose, you notice Twilight standing near the frontdoor to the library, peering out of the side window.
- "Good morning miss Sparkle."
- > She jumps at your voice, turning quickly and responding "Good morning! Didyousleepwell? Good! I betyourhungry. straighttothekitchenthen."
- > Uhoh.
- > Spidey sense is tingling.
- > "Spikescookingpancakesandyouwouldn'twantcoldpancakes, who'dwantcoldpacakesright?HAHA!"
- > You've seen that rictus grin before.
- > You walk towards the window as Twilight makes a "Mmm" noises and tries to guide you towards the kitchen with gestures.
- > You pass her and she sags, her head low and her fringe covering her eyes.
- > Drawing aside the curtain you look outside onto your first look at p0nyville by daylight.
- > There's Pinkie.
- > There's about a whole village worth of p0nies and a few extra to spare.
- > They're all looking at the house expectantly.
- > Standing underneath a huge banner that says...
- > "WELCOME TO P0NYVILLE ANONYMOUS!"
- > You and Twilight peform your first synchronised facepalm/hoof of many.
