  1. Many women during this time period were not able to join the army against other countries. There were women who workers as nurses to take care of people during the war, and some worked as maids, or mother's helpers. Akima, however, did not want to want those positions. She wanted to at least work hard like the men did when fighting against those other countries.
  2.
  3. Growing up in Britain was hard since the war was going on and unfortunately, her family home got attacked by bombs, so, she mainly had to live on her own as a child, until she got put into an orphanage, when being around five years old. While being in the orphanage, she was the "tomboy" of the one of many young little girls so, it was hard making friends for her. She luckily was adopted by a man who was an army man. She looked up at the man, cocking an eyebrow. "Um, who are you?" She asked, getting her fists ready to fight. "You do not need to hurt me, young one. I am an ally and solider. I have fought this war for a couple of years. This one is not over just yet, but, we'll get through it." The man said, with determination in his eyes. Akima looked up at the man and reached out her hands, as though she wanted to live with him. "Let's be partners!" She said, as she man picked her up. "You got it, kid." He said, giving her a wink.

  5. As the man was bringing her to his home, he looked at the young girl and asked, "Do you have a name?" Akima looked up at the man and gave out a small smirk. "Akima, sir!" She replied, and playfully punched the guy on the shoulder. When the man brought her to his home, he filled out the adoption papers and she noticed that she noticed a yellow rat with red cheeks and had a tail that looked like an electric bolt. She walked towards it and it backed off with a small, "Pika." Akima walked over to the man and asked, "What's that?" The man walked over to the rat and pet it's head. "Oh, it's my little Pokemon, Pikachu. This little guy helped me when I was fighting. It's electrical moves blasted those other soldiers out of the park. It's not used to newcomers, but I think you and Pikachu will get along."
  6.
  7. Akima and Pikachu started to become fast friends from them playing to practice fighting in combat. "You're a lot of fun to play with!" Akima exclaimed, with a playful grin. "Pika!" Pikachu responded and ran up to her with a smile. Akima lived with the solider and Pikachu for a couple of years and now, she looked up to him as a father figure, by, forgot to catch his name. So, at around eleven years old, she walked up to the man whom was reading a book. "Sir, I never caught your name when I was younger; what's your name?" Akima asked. He looked down at her and patted her head. "The name's John, but, please call me Johnny." He respond. Akima looked up at the man and nodded. "Ok, Johnny it is!" She said, and Pikachu bounced on his head playfully. "Hello!" He said, scratching Pikachu's chin.
  8.
  9. When Akima turned around eighteen years old, she became an adult, but still lived with Johnny. He did have to go fight in the war again, against the Germans and she and Pikachu had to go work and raise themselves up. Luckily, before he left, Johnny did leave her the house to stay in and some paperwork to look at for jobs. As Akima was searching through the papers, she did find some factories that required people to work on production products and uniforms. Although Johnny did not reach her on how to sew, she thought that would not be her forte anyway. "Hm, looks like I have to go wily working on ammunition then." She said to herself and Pikachu looked up at her, tilting it's head in agreement.
  10.
  11. So, she had to go to the factory where she saw many women working and saw them working with materials such as machinery and thought that it would be a good fit. So, she was looking for someone to talk to in the building. Finding someone in the factory was like finding a needle in a hay stack. So, she and Pikachu continued to look until she found another young woman with another Pikachu. "Hey, looking for a job, miss?" The young woman asked, with her eyebrow raising. Akima looked up at her and nodded. "Yes. I am eighteen years old and looking for a job." The woman looked at her and cocked another eyebrow. "You good with working with machinery?" She asked.
  12.
  13. Akima gulped, not knowing on what to answer. She did help Johnny work on fixing his car a couple of times while he was working for the Americans, but, that was only a couple of times, so, this was new territory. "Well, I have worked with a person who has a car." "Good you're hired." Pikachu and Akima cocked an eyebrow at the young woman and nodded, hoping that her mechanical skills from the past would come in handy. So, the young woman guided her and Pikachu to one of the machines and there were instructions on how to make bullets for guns and canons. "Well, this should be easy enough." Akima thought to herself as she got straight to work. She was working on the bullets for a couple of hours and they did come out as she expected, up and ready to be working. Although working with bullets and ammunitions were different than working with cars, this was worth the time and at least she learned a new skill. She did get less pay but, it was at least enough to support herself at the job.
  14.
  15. After returning home, she heard a young lady crying near the house. Pikachu ran towards her and tilted it's head again. "Pika?" It asked, with a small look of concern. The young woman looked at Pikachu and hugged the Pokemon. Akima, then ran towards the young woman and sighed. "Is it Johnny?" The young woman looked at her and nodded with a tear in her eye. "Read this telegram." Akima read the telegram and it read that Jonathan A. Winslow, a soldier for the British Army died by getting shot by a spy in Germany. Akima, after reading the letter, sighed. "He was a good man." She said, with a tear coming from her eye, and started to remember the day be adopted her from the orphanage when she was little. Pikachu looked up at Akima and hugged her by the leg and gave her a look of determination. "Pika, Pika, Pikachu!" It cried out, as though trying to say, "Even though Johnny's dead, we need to stay strong and continue to work hard for him." Akima, understanding on what Pikachu was trying to say, nodded. "You're right, Pikachu. It's up to you and me." She said, and went inside the home, getting her work clothes on and ran to the factory. Even though the factory was still opened and it would allow people to work nightshifts, she still had determination to work, willing to continue on what Johnny needed to do before died, which was continuing to strive and work hard. "Hope this feud would end." She said to herself, while working on another bullet. She worked throughout the night until dawn.
  16.
  17. The next morning, the young lady with her Pikachu walked in and gazed at Akima. "Well, Akima. I noticed that you worked overtime, go take the day off." She said, and patted Pikachu's head. Akima then walked back home and took a nice long nap on Johnny's bed with Pikachu on her side, hoping that this war would come to a peaceful end.
