  1. Guacamelee! Gold Edition - Select Door Glitch Notes
  2.
  3. --------
  4. Overview
  5. --------
  6. Select door glitch (SDG) is a menu exploit which warps you to positions within previously visited locations. Any region with a non-loading door can be set as the SDG warp region. With SDG activated, selecting Quit from the Pause Menu warps you to a position within the SDG warp region.
  7.
  8. To set the current region as your select door warp region,
  9. 1. Stand in front of a non-region-loading door and press Select + Up. If done correctly, the map menu opens with the game timer still ticking.
  10. 2. Press Start. The Pause Menu opens with the game active.
  11. 3. Open the Options Menu by pressing A.
  12. 4. Close the Options Menu by pressing B. If the game inadverently changes your options settings, say no "No" to the prompt to discard those changes.
  13. 5. A glitched Main Menu opens. With this menu open, triggering a loading screen sets the current region as your select door warp region.
  14.
  15. --------
  16. Variants
  17. --------
  18. With the glitched Main Menu open, there are several approaches for triggering a loading screen to set the SDG warp region.
  19. * Main Menu -> New Game : A new game starts in Juan's house. All game progress is lost.
  20. * Main Menu -> Continue : Game loads at last activated save point. Game progress is rolled back to when this save point was activated.
  21. * Pause Menu -> Quit : Game loads at last activated loading point. Game progress is preserved.
  22. * Main Menu -> Extras -> play cutscene : Behaves identically to Pause Menu -> Quit.
  23. * Activate a game loading screen : Game loads as usual. Game progress is preserved.
  24. * Right before activating loading screen, Main Menu -> New Game: Game loads as usual. All game progress is lost.
  25.
  26. -------------
  27. Warp Behavior
  28. -------------
  29. With a SDG warp region set, selecting Pause Menu -> Quit loads the game at a specific position within the select door warp region. This position is determined by the occurrence of the last activated loading screen. Each of the game's loading positions has an index. The game will attempt to load you at the position that has the same index as that of the last activated loading screen. If no such index exists in the set warp region, the game loads in the SDG warp region at a fixed non-matching index position.
  30.
  31. ---------------------
  32. Warp Position Indices
  33. ---------------------
  34. Region connectors, altars, Olmecs, and some cutscenes have warp position indices. When the game loads at one of these positions, it is set as the current index. A map of the region indices can be found here http://imgur.com/hLUNh9H . Following is a list of all warp position indices.

  212. Accessing Altar Warp Indices
  213. ----------------------------
  214. Typically, crossing a region connector triggers a game save, which is confirmed by the skull icon in the lower-right corner of the screen. There are two situational ways to enter a region without triggering a game save:
  215. 1. Use an Olmec to enter that region
  216. 2. Use pollo form to pass underneath the game save trigger at the region connector. The following region connector save triggers can be passed under in pollo form:
  217. * Pueblucho: Agave Field entrance
  218. * Forest del Chivo: Santa Luchita entrance
  219. * Santa Luchita: Forest del Chivo entrance
  220. * Santa Luchita: Desierto Caliente entrance
  221. * Desierto Caliente: Santa Luchita entrance
  222. * Sierra Morena: Great Temple entrance
  223. * Great Temple: Sierra Morena entrance
  224.
  225. By entering a region while avoiding game save triggers, we can activate an altar within that region and then Pause Menu -> Quit to return to the SDG warp region. As long as a game save is not triggered upon returning to the SDG warp region nor on the path to a doorway, we can then activate SDG Main Menu -> Continue, which loads the game at the activated altar in the other region. Now when you Pause Menu -> Quit, the game loads in the SDG warp region at the position whose index corresponds to that altar's index.
