  1. All you can hear is the steady rhythm of rain against your window. They decided to cancel classes today because of the storm. Most people are staying inside, just like you. Nowhere to go and nowhere to be. You’ve just been lying here, huddled up in the bed, listening to the rain beat against the window with the lights off. The occasional crack of thunder illuminates the room, shining brightly off your brothers trophies. You decide to roll over and face the wall so you don’t have to see them. It’s another one of these days, of course it had to be the day you couldn’t distract yourself. It feels like there’s a pit eating you from the inside out. Like you’re being pulled into yourself. It’s not the first time you’ve felt like this. The first time was when your mom and dad split up. The second was when your brother left, and it’s been reoccurring ever since. But it’s been happening a lot more recently, since you and Susie went into that closet. For once in a long time you felt some purpose, but its gone again. You’re not even sure it was there to being with. Just a figment of your imagination, a delusion...
  2. *bzzt* *bzzt* *bzzt* Your thoughts are interrupted by the buzzing of your phone. The sound of plastic vibrating on wood cuts through the patter of rain. You slowly roll over to grab the phone and flip it open. You don’t say anything, you just wait for whoever is calling to speak first.
  3. “Hey nerd! You there? You were supposed to meet me at the diner so we could replace all the condiments with chalk, but you flaked… What's your problem, huh! I thought we were supposed to be doing that, uh, hanging out stuff. You know, l-like friends…”
  4. It’s Susie. You forgot you were supposed to meet her at the diner. You guys planned a few days ago that when the storm hit you would slip into the store and replace all the packets of sauce with chalk, maybe even leave a few crude messages. You completely forgot about it in your self-loathing. You let a hard breath out, wanting to hit yourself for being such an idiot.
  5. “Hello?!”
  6. What are you gonna tell her. “Hey sorry, to busy hating life sorry, reschedule?” You can’t let Susie know about… well this. She’d probably call you a pussy and stop being the only thing you’ve got that resembles a friend.
  7. “Are you gonna say anything freak...”
  8. Dammit! You don’t have the faintest idea what to say. What could possibly explain you mopping in bed. You couldn't pass of as sick and it’s not like your tired. Think...
  9. FINE, DON’T SAY ANYTHING F-FREAK!”
  10. You here the phone click. She must have hung up while you were busy debating with yourself. God you’re such an idiot. There she went, the only friend you had. All because you’re to busy laying in bed feeling sorry about yourself. You can’t help but to slam your hands into your face. They meet a slow dampness, as you quietly cry, the patter of rain echoing in your room.
