1. >Day Rectifying Upsetting Spoiled Endings in Equestria
2. >Anon keeps telling you to sit down and stop jumping into other p0nies' way.
3. >You can't help it.
4. >You're on a train for the first time in your life.
5. >And all of the sights that fly by are so beautiful.
6. >It's like an early afternoon landscape being painted before your very own eyes.
7. >"I understand that you're excited, Speck. But please, you're upsetting everyone else on the train."
8. "But Anon! I get to see Hollow Shades after being gone for three years!"
9. >He rolls his eyes and gets up as you dart over in front of a mare and her two foals.
10. >The stallion sitting across from the mare doesn't take too kindly to your presence.
11. >You feel Anon slip his hands underneath you and pick you up.
12. >"I'm sorry, she's really excited to see her home town again."
13. >The stallion rolls his eyes and gets back to reading his paper.
14. >The mare just giggles and blushes at Anon as her foals shy away from you.
15. >That hurt.
16. >You loved children, but they always so scared of you.
17. >You flail your hooves, flap your wings, and twist in Anon's arms.
18. "Let me goooo!"
19. >"No. You're causing trouble and I don't feel like getting kicked off the train today."
20. >You grumble and curl up by his side.
21. >You look out the left window, the landscape passing as the train chugs on.
22. >A long mountain range starts to come into view.
23. >There is a large forest surrounding it.
24. >You admire the beauty of it.
25. >It isn't as beautiful as the forest that contains your home, though.
26.
27. >Anon looks at his map.
28. >"Well, it looks like we'll stop in Canterlot Mountain, and then catch another train to Hollow Shades."
29. >Canterlot Mountain?
30. >You climb into Anon's lap as quick as you can, slipping around as you excitedly shove your face in his.
31. "Did you say Canterlot Mountain?!"
32. >"Yes?"
33. >You screech happily.
34. >Canterlot was a beautiful city.
35. >You've only seen pictures of it, and heard stories.
36. >But to be that close to it?
37. >Oh, you can't contain yourself.
38. >You hug Anon around the neck as tight as you can and kiss his cheek.
39. >Canterlot Mountain was bound to have a lot of really neat things to see.
40. >"Why are you getting all excited over that? It's not like we'll even be there for very long."
41. >You roll your eyes.
42. >Yeah right, you weren't going to be there for very long.
43. >You'll spend as long as you please there.
44. "Can't we just stay there over night? Please?"
45. >He folds his arms across his chest and shakes his head.
46. >"Absolutely not, Speck."
47. >You harumph and lay across his lap, pouting.
48. "Well fine. I guess I just won't
kiss
you tonight."
49. >You roll over on your back and look up at him with a smirk.
50. >He's blushing.
51. >Yeah, you've got this in the bag.
52. >"F-fine. We can stay for the night."
53. >You jump up and hug him again, pecking him lightly on the lips.
54. "Thank you so much Anon."
55.
56. >You are now Anon.
57. >It's been about two weeks since the Summer Sun Celebration.
58. >You and Speck had made your relationship official as the sun went down.
59. >Life was pretty much the same since then.
60. >The only real difference was that the two of you kissed sometimes.
61. >She had recently been talking about Hollow Shades.
62. >Specifically, her mother.
63. >You guessed that she wanted to see her mom again, so you caught a train.
64. >She was absolutely ecstatic to hear that you were going.
65. >She talked about her mother a lot.
66. >Mostly, it was just stories that she was told as a filly.
67. >Speck sat by the window now, looking out at the landscape.
68. >She finally calmed down a little.
69. >"Hey, Anon?"
70. "Yeah?"
71. >Her head turns as she looks at you.
72. >"Do you know what happens when we die?"
73. >Well that certainly came from nowhere.
74. "What do you mean?"
75. >This kind of talk always gets you nervous.
76. >"Like... where do we go? What happens?"
77. >Oh come on.
78. >Do we have to talk about this?
79. >Ever?
80. "I really don't know Speck."
81. >She adopts a look of worry.
82. >"What do you think happens?"
83. "I'm... not really sure. I guess we carry on to a new life? Like, we get our own..."
84. >You groan and lay your head back.
85. "I don't know, Speck. Why are you asking me?"
86. >She can tell you're getting uncomfortable.
87. >She looks away and snickers lightly.
88. >"No real reason."
89.
90. >You sit in silence for the next hour, until you arrive in Canterlot Mountain.
91. >Speck runs off somewhere, leaving you alone.
92. >You shrug and walk off in the opposite direction.
93. >Maybe you could find some food.
94. >Or a present for Speck.
95. >Yeah, that sounds good.
96. >Food, then shopping.
97. >You pass by a few restaurants, but nothing sounds good.
98. >Might be because Speck isn't here.
99. >It felt kind of weird.
100. >The two of you had become so close, and you'd only known her for a month and a half.
101. >You thought it was longer.
102. >You stop in front of one restaurant.
103. >The smell of meat wafts through the air.
104. >"Gryphon Meat Bar."
105. >Aptly named.
106. >It had been a while since you last had meat.
107. >About a year, you think.
108. >And that was only because Mr. and Mrs. Cake had surprised you on your birthday with a large slab of meat.
109. >Birthdays...
110. >You don't know when Speck's is, now that you think about it.
111. >You'll have to ask.
112. >But for now, meat.
113. >You step inside and see nothing but gryphons.
114. >That's not surprising.
115. >What is surprising is that they all stop their conversations and stop eating the minute you walk in.
116. >That's not freaky at all.
117. >One of the bartenders yells at you.
118. >"'ey Freak! What's yer bus'ness?"
119. >Quick, think fast!
120. "Meat."
121. >You thought too fast.
122. >There is a massive uproar of laughter.
123. >Everyone goes back to their meals and conversations.
124. >Smooth is your middle name.
125. >Anonymous Smooth [statement redacted].
126. >That was your actual last name, too.
127. >Your parents had a sick sense of humor.
128.
129. >You take a seat at the bar and the bartender hands you a menu.
130. >You look over it.
131. >A rare treat like this needs serious deliberation.
132. "Uhhh. Let me get the Artery Clogger."
133. >The bartender raises an eyebrow.
134. >You raise an eyebrow back.
135. >You aren't going to let some plebeian scum judge your taste in meat.
136. >Besides, chicken stuffed with cow wrapped in bacon sounds good.
137. >It came with a side of fried chicken strips, a cheeseburger, sausage links, and a cold glass of milk.
138. >Gotta stay healthy with that milk.
139. >"Sure, tha'll be fifty bits."
140. >Worth it.
141. >You reach into your bag and pull out fifty bits.
142. >He takes them with a look of disgust.
143. >Your stride can't be broken.
144. >Your name isn't Anonymous Smooth Unbreakable-Stride [statement redacted] for nothing.
145. >Your food comes out several seconds after you paid.
146. >Fast service.
147. >You'll tip well, assuming the food is everything you remember it to be.
148. >You stare at the plate.
149. "What is this?"
150. >The waitress stares at you.
151. >"Is there something wrong?"
152. "Yes, there is. What's this green crap?"
153. >She stares at your plate.
154. >"That's celery. It's customary with all of our dishes, required by the Canterlot Health Ordinance of A.T. 134.
155. >You pick the celery up, stare her in the eye, and snap it into little pieces onto the bartop.
156. >She squints at you.
157. >You squint back and start flicking the little bits at her.
158. >"Oh, for Celestia's sake! Don't eat it, for all I care! Stop making a mess, you dweeb!"
159. >You stop, smirking.
160. >"I hope you're satisfied. I have to clean this too. Thanks a lot."
161. >You adopt a look of pure satisfaction.
162. >She scoffs and walks off.
163. >You pick the chicken-bacon-beef ball up and take a massive bite out of it.
164. >Your eyes widen and your jaw drops.
165. >Never again will you judge how Speck reacts to her food.
166. >You continue eating, eliciting lewd moans as you shovel the food down your gullet.
167. >The waitress looks like she's going to vomit as she cleans your mess.
168.
169. >You are now Speck.
170. >Canterlot Mountain is everything you've heard about and more.
171. >Shops, food, fruit vendors, toy stores, jewelry stores, antique stores, magic artifact shops, and best of all, clothes stores!
172. >You never really wore clothes.
173. >And you don't own anything.
174. >Anon usually just bundles you up inside his jacket if you get cold.
175. >You trot inside one of them, smiling.
176. >The shop owner regards you with a smile.
177. >These higher populated areas were much more welcoming to bat p0nies.
178. >But you were never very good at meeting other p0nies.
179. >Though, that wouldn't be very obvious.
180. >Outside of bat p0nies, you've spent a secluded life from any other kinds of p0nies.
181. >"Good afternoon, miss. Is there anything I can help you with?"
182. >She sounds very posh.
183. "I don't really know. I kind of just wandered in here. I've never been around here, and I'm just winging my way around."
184. >You snicker a little.
185. >She offers you an awkward chuckle.
186. >"Well then, I don't supposed I could interest you in a coat? It gets chilly inside this mountain."
187. >You ponder for a minute.
188. >Anon has a coat with him.
189. >You can just use that.
190. "No thank you. Do you have any hats?"
191. >She shakes her head.
192. >"No, but there's a shop down the road that does. You can check there."
193. "Oh, okay. Bye, then."
194. >You wave as you leave and head down the road.
195.
196. >The hat shop comes into view a short while later and you head inside.
197. >The owner waves at you and you wave back.
198. >"What can I do for you?"
199. "I was wondering if you had a hat that could fit a human's head?"
200. >He gives you a quizzical look.
201. >"A... hoo man?"
202. >You snicker.
203. "It took me a while to get it too. Umm... How about this?"
204. >You hold your hooves apart, about the width of Anon's head.
205. >"Hmmm. I might, let me check."
206. >You smile and bounce in place.
207. >The owner trots into the back and comes out a moment later with a strange looking hat.
208. >"It's something I've been trying to get right, but it doesn't look good on p0nies' heads."
209. >You stare at it.
210. >"I call it a fedora."
211. >You hum softly and put it on your head.
212. >It falls over your eyes and you gasp in surprise.
213. >You tip it back so you can see and look in the mirror.
214. >You turn your head from side to side and tilt it.
215. "Hmmm..."
216. >The owner looks at you in anticipation.
217. >"So?"
218. "I'll take it!"
219. >The owner smiles warmly.
220. >"It's twenty bits."
221. >That's a steal, for such a neat looking hat!
222. >It wouldn't look good on Anon, but it looked amazing on you.
223. >Anon rarely wore short pants or t-shirts.
224. >He wore long pants, often with dress shirts and wool coats.
225. >That hat would definitely look bad on him.
226. >You pay the owner and leave, bouncing off in the direction of the train station.
227. >You had to show Anon this wonderful hat!
228.
229. >You are Anon again.
230. >And that was the best meal you've ever had.
231. >You could feel the inner workings of your body clogging up and shutting down.
232. >You tipped the waitress and barkeep thirty bits each.
233. >The Cakes paid you well enough, and you rarely spent your money.
234. >The job was mostly just to kill time, since the house was paid for by the princesses.
235. >You wander around the shops in this part of town.
236. >One particular jewelry shop catches your eye.
237. >So you head inside.
238. >After all, you needed to get a present for Speck.
239. >"Welcome."
240. >You look over at the shopkeeper.
241. >He looks at you and raises an eyebrow.
242. >You wave.
243. >He closes his eyes, sighs, shakes his head, and walks off.
244. >You browse his wares.
245. >Necklaces, horn rings, bracers, bracelets, crowns, tiaras.
246. >Nothing that would really look good on Speck.
247. "Do you have anything that would look good on a bat p0ny?"
248. >The shopkeeper rolls his eyes.
249. >Jeez, this guy was just a little ball of sunshine.
250. >"I suppose we might."
251. >He ducks under the front counter and places a silver necklace on the counter.
252. >You pick it up and stare at it.
253. >Real silver, slightly tarnished, beautiful citrine gem embedded in the center of a small silver pendant.
254. >It was perfect.
255. "How much?"
256. >He perks up a little.
257. >"Five hundred bits."
258. >Steep, but for Speck you don't care.
259. >"There's a catch though."
260. >Well then.
261. "And that would be?"
262. >"It's enchanted."
263. >You raise an eyebrow.
264. >"Or, well. It's cursed."
265. >You very slowly put the necklace back down and squint at him.
266. "What kind of curse?"
267. >"The bad kind."
268. >You groan and walk out of the store.
269. >You don't want to know what the "bad kind" of curse is.
270. >Curses were typically bad anyway.
271. >It was probably some kind of weakening curse.
272. >Or soul drain.
273. >Did p0nies have that kind of magic?
274.
275. >"Anon!"
276. >A bat p0ny accosts you.
277. >You don't recognize it under that hat, but it knows your name.
278. >"Do you like my hat?"
279. >You actually don't.
280. >Something about it infuriates you and reminds you of embarrassing feelings.
281. "No."
282. >"The shopkeeper called it a fedora."
283. >The flashbacks come like a hurricane of spaghetti.
284. >You remember everything.
285. >After five years of not being subject to that garbage, you remember.
286. >And it is a feel you do not want to feel.
287. >You calmly remove the hat from the p0ny's head, revealing Speck.
288. >You won't even ask why, nor will you wonder why you didn't expect this.
289. >"An-"
290. "No."
291. >You start to walk towards the train tracks.
292. >"Anon wa-"
293. "No!"
294. >You start to sprint.
295. >You only have one chance.
296. >A train starts to roll through the station.
297. >If you can throw the hat, it will be gone from this world.
298. >And you will carry on with your mission to destroy all of them.
299. >"Anon, wait! That's the only fedora the shopkeeper had! I like it!"
300. "NOOOOOO!"
301. >With a flick of your wrist, you throw the hat under the train as it rolls by.
302. >Mission accomplished.
303. >Speck sits beside you as you flex in victory.
304. >"Why would you do that, Anon?"
305. >You can hear the sadness in her voice.
306. >But this was for the greater good.
307. "Personal reasons."
308. >She sniffs, holding back her tears.
309. >You look down at her and pat her on the head.
310. "It was for the best. Now come on, I want ice cream."
311. >She perks up instantly and flies by your side.
312. >"Can we get double scoops?!"
313. "No Speck. You won't eat all of it."
314. >She whines and smushes her face into yours.
315. >"Yes I will! I promise!"
316. "Fine, fine. You can have two scoops."
317. >She hugs you tight and screeches with joy.
318. >You hug her back.
319. >You'll harass her as much as you can, just for small moments like this.
320. >It makes everything worth it.
321.
322. >Anon threw your hat under a train.
323. >You liked that hat.
324. >But he was making it up to you with ice cream.
325. >And he even let you get two scoops!
326. >He never does that.
327. >You stand beside him in the ice cream parlor, deliberating what flavors you want.
328. "Anon! I want mango and banana!"
329. >You bounce up and down like a little filly, giggling with glee.
330. >"I'll have two scoops of vanilla."
331. >The mare at the counter nods and smiles as she begins scooping your ice cream up into a cone.
332. >Anon tosses some bits onto the counter and carries your ice cream over to a booth where the two of you sit down.
333. >You hold your cone between your hooves and begin to
scrape and lick
at it.
334. >Anon chuckles as he licks his cone.
335. "What's so funny?"
336. >He shakes his head and takes another lick of his cone.
337. >"The way you eat your ice cream."
338. >You shoot him a dirty look and continue eating your ice cream.
339. >"So are you going to see your mother when we get to Hollow Shades?"
340. >You nod and smile.
341. "Yeah. It's been so long since I've seen her. I want to see how she's doing."
342. >"I can't wait to meet her."
343. >You smile even wider as you lower your cone.
344. "She's going to love you."
345.
346. >You eventually finish your cone after struggling from how full you were from it.
347. >Anon just glared at you the whole time you were trying to finish it.
348. >It was getting a little late.
349. >You wouldn't have been able to tell what time it was unless you had looked at the clocktower.
350. >9:45PM
351. >"We should find a place to sleep."
352. >You nod and lean against him as the two of you walk.
353. >You soon come across an inn.
354. >It looks nice, and the price isn't half bad.
355. >Anon pays for the room and you settle in, dropping your bags on one of the beds.
356. >You jump up on the second bed and curl up.
357. >Anon soon joins you.
358. >He pulls the covers over you and pulls you close to his chest.
359. >You snuggle deeply into him and smile.
360. >You cover him with a wing and hug his arm with your forelegs.
361. "Good night Anon. I love you."
362. >He presses his nose and lips into your mane, kissing softly.
363. >You tighten your grip on his arm.
364. >"Good night Speck. I love you too."
365. >You tilt your head back and gaze into his eyes.
366. >He meets your eyes with his own and smiles warmly.
367. >You close your eyes and press your nose into his neck.
368. >You soon fall asleep in his arms.
