  3. 9:07 PM
  4. <•Forge|GM> Forgery As Helen leaves the town square, the box in her hand shakes more vigorously, the contents seeming to notice her movement. Going down towards the waterfront on the way to Baybreak, the docks themselves open up, various barges and rowboats softly floating in the weak tide, surrounded by owners and dockworkers alike going about their daily business. Some give her funny looks, both at seeing an unfamiliar face down at the waterfront and at the box in her
  5. 9:07 PM hands, while others seem more engaged in their own day to day endeavors. Here and there, the Strifes make their presence known, flitting between dockhands. In their wake comes disagreements and arguments, none quite reaching violence, but heated tempers are widespread. At the commotion, the box leaps again, as if something small is throwing its full force against the sides.||
  6. 9:14 PM
  7. <Thalia|Helen> How likely was whatever this was to get out? She should have been warned about that, and she doesn't exactly have a great option to stop it. Well, at least in part, as long as she doesn't think it can get out, it shouldn't. The strifes should keep nearly anything busy, so she just had to deliver this box. Hopefully, it was easy. As long as she didn't interfere or She didn't interfere, it should be. Helen takes a deep breath. Focus and
  8. 9:14 PM make the delivery, then she can do something else... maybe cook dinner or work on her costuming? Either way.||

  16. <•Forge|GM> Forgery ((Sew it seems))
  17. 9:19 PM As Helen continues along the shoreline, only years of experience with sewing manage to keep her hands on the box as one dock worker stumbles backward into her path, nearly knocking her down in the process. The man barely spares Helen a glance before looking towards the other dockhand in front of him. "Oy, what's that for Louie?" He sounds annoyed, off kilter. The other man, Louie, glares at his companion. "You nearly crushed my foot, dickhead, what do
  18. 9:19 PM you think its for?" The two walk towards each other, as overhead a strife lets out a silent cackle, twirling one golden finger above the pair.
  19. 9:21 PM Around Helen, the sound of thumping noises seems to become more widespread, as more and more groups seem to turn their arguments into violence. Soon, the dock is filled with large men pushing and shoving one another, their arguments and curses drowning out the sound of the Strifes swooping through the scene. None of the men seem to be paying attention to their surroundings, and Helen has to take a few awkward steps to avoid being knocked aside by the
  20. 9:21 PM ones closest to her.||
  21. 9:42 PM
  22. <Thalia|Helen> Of course, She did interfere in her own way. Helen has to wonder if she can turn this to her advantage... spur more conflict and yet keep it away from her. They weren't focusing on her, no, but they were focusing on their own conflicts. If she really made one heat up further from her, then she could just walk out of the chaos. Maybe she needs to commune with Eris and work on a spell to keep her out of trouble. Make things easier on her.
  23. 9:42 PM Oh well, that's some prayers for another time. For now, she should just direct it. She finds a group that's behind her and further away. "My wonderful Goddess, please spur them on towards conflict." The woman says under her breath. She makes sure to be far away from anyone. No direct path, then... well, it's time to see if she can get other people involved with that while she leaves. It's going to instigate quickly, she knows that. Then,
  24. 9:42 PM she just needs to make sure everyone is paying attention to it. A big fight over there is one further from her.||
  25. 9:52 PM
  26. <•Forge|GM> Forgery At the prayer, the group behind her seems to grow louder, their shouts loud enough to draw attention. "Paulie, fuck off. I haven't docked your pay once. Blame the government taxes." "YOU FUCK OFF JIM, YOU OWE ME MORE THAN THIS SHIT." "Get away from him Paulie, he's not worth it." People look towards the group behind her, and as they seem to finally peak in volume, a sound other than shouting and shoving rings out; a gunshot. At the noise, the docks and
  27. 9:52 PM workers are thrown into chaos. Most run from the group, some run towards it, but the crowd becomes far more scattered and chaotic than before, the reckless attitude now spread towards surrounding bystanders as well. Bystanders like Helen herself. Around her, the men rush past, eager to get away as quick as possible. The Strifes watch the scene with interest, their scattered golden bodies clustered around the injured man and his workers like fleas on a
  28. 9:52 PM dog.||

  31. <Thalia|Helen> Holy crap, she might have just killed a guy. Eh, it happens. Too bad it wasn't Vincent. Spur had some wonderful influences on people. Like an anger drug. Well, as long as no one else was fighting, Helen can move with the crowd. As long as they were going in her direction. Well, that would calm things down in the long term. It's like pulling off a band-aid or an explosion sucking air from a fire. Now, that should calm everyone else
  32. 10:01 PM enough... or at least get them panicked in the same direction as she was going in. Less likely to bump into people. Helen will hold the box tight and keep going where she needed to go.||

  40. <•Forge|GM> Forgery Around Helen, the crowd seems intent on shoving forward, and Helen manages to hold onto the box despite the rush of giant bodies and sailors making their way as far away as possible. Carried by the crowd, they seem to thin at the edge of the dock, where most turn back towards town or find places to catch their breath and thoughts. Behind her, Helen can hear the sound of sirens from the town, heading towards the docks.
  41. 10:06 PM ⇐ Turncoat quit ([email protected]) Quit: Connection closed for inactivity
  42. 10:09 PM
  43. <•Forge|GM> Forgery The area the crowd stopped its rush seems quiet, small cypress trees coated in vines and ivy forming a natural curtain over the edge of the bayou. Wooden docks give way to dirt and mud, half trampled in footsteps and animal tracks, some new, some old. Baybreak lies farther along the path, the worn treads of tires and beach chairs drawing lines through the mud and dirt, even a mile away. A few noises sound from the nearby trees, birds and Others alike
  44. 10:09 PM claiming a home in the thick branches of the canopy.
  45. 10:11 PM One Other, a small slothlike thing made of wood and vines itself, looks down at Helen, letting a long green tongue dangle from its outstretched mouth in front of her, hidden amidst the trees foliage. The tongue blinks, once, a small gray orb affixed to the tip of the appendage.||
  46. 10:19 PM
  47. <Thalia|Helen> Well, that was a mess. She probably gained favor from that... it's going to cause all sorts of issues there and so few people would even know she was there for it. Eris and the strifes, nothing else would really matter. She could ignore most everything, she had a job to do and there was all sorts of shit out here that she would be better off not dealing with.||
  48. 10:27 PM
  49. <•Forge|GM> Forgery As Helen hurries onward, she makes her way to Baybreak. The beachfront is packed at this time of day, the shoreline filled with beach chairs and Jeeps. Inter-spaced equally along the waterfront, lifeguards sit in their high chairs, watching over the bayou waterfront, the ocean waterfront, and riverfront, all of which seem to cater to various demographics of elderly, young adults, and families respectively. A few kids look at Helen as she travels through
  50. 10:27 PM the crowds, but most seem intent on enjoying the sunshine and the warm weather. Rusty's shop sits in the center of it all, a line trailing from the standfront as people come to get lunch or treats from the ancient wooden fixture. Rusty himself seems to greet each newcomer with a smile, handing out hotdogs and ice cream cones to each and every customer with a sincerity that somehow doesn't feel forced. The door to the souvenir shop sits just past the
  51. 10:27 PM stall side, people milling about inside or crowding along the benches that line the shack's exterior.||
  52. 10:35 PM
  53. <Thalia|Helen> You know, Helen forgets how nice the beach can be. Maybe she needs to take an actual day off at some point. Even actual priests got a vacation. Time to be friendly, maybe someone would want to buy a timeshare. She makes sure to give a smile to whoever she can as Helen walks to where she'll be delivering this. Man, she should have brought a bikini if she knew she was going to the beach...||
  54. 10:43 PM
  55. <•Forge|GM> Forgery Inside the building, the crowd seems thin, with families and young adults vaguely rummaging through the large collection of souvenirs, themed t-shirts, and knick-knacks. One child seems intent on showing his parents a stuffed toy lobster, and begins to sob hysterics when told to put it back. A few more teenagers seem focused on the t-shirt display, trying on various slogans ranging between "The best vacation? on the Rocks." to "Shepherd's Rock /and/
  56. 10:43 PM Roll." to gimmicky pictures of sheep, band iconography, and pictures of cocktails. Leaning against the wall and thumbing through a fashion magazine, Helen notices a familiar face; Audrey Peterson, her blonde hair cascading down to the shoulders of her pale white sundress. The young lady looks up, raises an eyebrow at Helen's hat, then places the magazine back on a shelf. "I take it that package is for me?" She says, softly.||

  59. 10:53 PM
  60. <•Forge|GM> Forgery ((23 and no))
  61. 10:53 PM
  62. <Thalia|Helen> Well, the stuffed lobster was cute. She should get one sometime, keep it around the timeshare office. Maybe if they had a giant one. Some offices had fountains, but stuffed lobster seemed more in theme. "That depends, Ms. Peterson. Did you order an especially energetic package from Jasper?" Helen would be lying to herself if she didn't always think that Audrey was attractive every time she saw her. "It's been fighting me for a good
  63. 10:53 PM portion of the walk here."||
  64. 10:58 PM ↔ Stoic popped in
  65. 11:01 PM
  66. <•Forge|GM> Forgery "That'd be what I ordered, though it sounds a bit more lively than expected. So to what do I the..." Audrey looks Helen up and down, her expression solidifying in an amused half smile. "unexpected pleasure?" Audrey steps forward from the wall, her sundress swaying with every step. "Did something happen to Jasper? Perhaps one of your little tricks?" The young woman looks Helen in the eyes, her stance belying the elegance one expects from the owner and
  67. 11:01 PM hostess of Swinger's Wharf.||
  68. 11:10 PM
  69. <Thalia|Helen> "I don't believe I had anything to do with that. Jasper just needed to stay at the stall since Adelaide was not feeling well." Well, at least she said it was a pleasure. At least it wasn't incredibly thinly veiled hatred. Helen was used to that a lot of times. "I just happened to be walking by and it's my day off, so I had the time."||
  70. 11:14 PM
  71. <•Forge|GM> Forgery "I'm sorry to hear that. Adelaide is such a lovely dear, I'd hate to see her trouble Jasper like that." Once more a pause, then Audrey smiles. "Still, if it were anyone who had the time, I suppose I'm lucky it was you." She reaches out expertly manicured hands. "Now then, would you be so kind as to give me the package?"||
  72. 11:18 PM
  73. <Thalia|Helen> Helen gives Audrey a big smile back. "Of course." Well, that would mark the delivery complete, wouldn't it? Helen is very careful when handing the box over to Audrey, just because it seemed like it was fighting her so much... now would be the best chance for such a thing to escape. Helen will need to make sure Audrey has a decent grip before letting go. It'd be a shame if she made it all the way HERE, then dropped it. "Just need to be
  74. 11:18 PM careful, whatever it was keeps trying to get out..." Futile so far, but Jasper did mention it was hard to get in there...||

  81. 11:27 PM
  82. <•Forge|GM> Forgery With a final struggle, the box jumps, but Helen expects it this time, holding firm. She hands over the box, and Audrey takes it off her hands. She tightens her grip on the box, then softens the grasp. With one hand, Audrey takes off the lid of the box, glancing in, before setting it back on top. "The specimen seems a bit feisty, but in good shape..." Audrey muses to herself, before realizing Helen is watching her and blushes. "Oh, excuse me. I didn't
  83. 11:27 PM mean to be rude." With a deep breath in, Audrey seems to compose herself, then looks up once more. "I really do appreciate you bringing this here, Helen." She says, smiling. "I have to get this back to proper containment, but if you have time later, I wouldn't mind you dropping by Swinger's Wharf..." Audrey trails off, looking at Helen with the a satisfied smile.||
  84. 11:28 PM ((with the satisfied smile*))
  85. 11:37 PM
  86. <Thalia|Helen> Helen wonders what it is, but she's not going to push. Maybe Audrey will mention it later. And well, she didn't have anything planned later. Dropping by Swinger's Wharf with Audrey's invite would probably be a good time. 'I didn't have any plans tonight, so that sounds like fun." Helen gives Audrey a smile back. Yeah, she would have to stop by. Man, days off were wonderful.||
  87. 11:38 PM
  88. <•Forge|GM> Forgery "I'll see you then, then." With a final smile, Audrey leaves, leaving Helen surrounded by tourists and families enjoying the bright sunny day by spending it inside a tourist trap.||
  89. 11:43 PM
  90. <Thalia|Helen> Well, she might be riding that feeling for a bit. Whoever thought that the Priestess of Eris would be a romantic? Actually, it seems like an obvious choice. She lets out a sigh and starts to head back towards the beach. Helen needed to make sure she looked good tonight, then... and at least that task was finished.||
  91. 11:46 PM
  92. <•Forge|GM> Forgery As Helen steps outside, she's met with the loud blaring whistle of a lifeguard, over by the bayou side of Baybreak. With the noise, most of the swimmers seem to get out of the water, some taking their time, others immediately paddling out. Its unclear as to why they're being told to evacuate, but one woman seems to be making a scene, yelling at the teenage lifeguard who seems to be doing his best to deal with the situation by being as loud as possible.||
  93. 11:57 PM
  94. <Thalia|Helen> Oh, that'll be fun to watch. Helen isn't dressed for the beach herself, but she can at least take a look at the whole thing. You don't end up as a Priestess of Discord if you don't like watching or causing a few train wrecks... metaphorical or otherwise.||

  103. 12:04 AM
  104. <•Forge|GM> Forgery As Helen approaches, the shrill complaints of the woman by the lifeguard stand become clear. "Well wadayamean you can't see the danger? That island is dangerous! Gettem outta the water before they get killed!" The woman seems frantic, panicked beyond belief, and though the lifeguard doesn't seem to share her opinion, the emotions seem to be getting to him, judging by the shrill whistling. The crowd getting out of the water grows larger, now, more
  105. 12:04 AM restless as the beach seems... strangely smaller than when Helen had first arrived, though its hard to put her finger on why. There's a faint veneer of anger, and only the woman and the stoic companion at her side seem to understand why people are being told to get out of the water. Only a few stragglers remain in the water, mostly teens too stubborn or unwilling to get onto shore.||
  106. 12:07 AM
  107. <Thalia|Helen> Oh, it's probably something stupid and dangerous. Maybe she needs to user her special vision to see what's going on... she's definitely not getting close to whatever it is. But she can see how things are shaping, people-wise. Helen looks over the tension on the beach, casting her spell of the same name.||
  108. 12:15 AM
  109. <•Forge|GM> Forgery The lines of tension show mostly strong annoyance and anger at the lifeguard, the crowd focused on him. He, in turn, is focused on the woman, the annoyance clear beneath his thin veneer of politeness. The woman and her companion, by contrast, are focused on the land mass over in the middle of the bayou. A small island, covered with trees and rocks of its own. Despite their worry and focus, no real sign of life appears from the island, at least not any
  110. 12:15 AM idea of tension. It seems like just general paranoia from the way the two are acting, if extremely acute paranoia.||
  111. 12:26 AM
  112. <Thalia|Helen> Well, that didn't seem helpful at all. Helen sighs and sits back. She didn't want to interfere with this at all. Given, she had little fuckers that followed her around, and they might, but this was just a moment to take a seat where she could and watch. Give her legs a chance to rest from all that walking.||

  120. 12:37 AM
  121. <•Forge|GM> Forgery Vaguely, Helen notices the tide is strange around the island; little trails of ripples near it, like whirlpools. The Bayou water sways around it, back and forth, a relaxing contrast to the still shrieking woman on the shore. As Helen watches, one of the few remaining stragglers, a small kid, draws near the island, struggling as if caught in the rapids. No one left on shore seems to notice their approach. At the shoreline, the child seems to try and
  122. 12:37 AM clamber up onto the island, carefully. The next instant, the kid is gone, faster than Helen can even blink. The churning water around the base of the island grows wild, and for a moment, darker, streaks of something surfacing from beneath. The rest of the slower kids have managed to make it onto shore, when they join in the tense scene, looking up at the lifeguard who still is angry at the woman by the side of his chair.||
  123. 12:49 AM
  124. <Thalia|Helen> Well, that one got her attention. Helen is tempted to do something about that, but... she's not exactly a strong swimmer and getting caught in a current - whether it was magic or not - seemed like a surefire way for her to die. Helen gets back up and walks closer to the beach, just so she can hear the lifeguard and woman better.||
  125. 12:54 AM
  126. <•Forge|GM> Forgery "I'm telling you, this is Dangerous! D A N G E R O U S!" The woman's voice is shrill, piercing. "Keep them out of the water until that island is gone!" She seems panicked, and more than a little out of breath. "...How can an Island go away?" the lifeguard replies, confused. "I know Rusty said to listen to you, but what you're saying makes no sense..." The crowd seems restless around the two, focused in trying to pin their anger and annoyance on a
  127. 12:54 AM scapegoat after having their swimming cut short. The man by the woman's side seems oddly formal for the beach, dressed in a suit and tie, holding the people around at a distance from the scene. He eyes Helen, warily, before moving to block her path. "Private matter, ma'am. I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to stay back."||
  128. 1:05 AM
  129. <Thalia|Helen> Well, she sounded crazy, didn't she? Then again, Helen worshiped a chaos goddess. Things couldn't get much weirder. She gives the man in the suit a bored look before leaning around to get a look. "Rather loud and disruptive to be considered private, in my opinion..."||

  133. <•Forge|GM> Forgery ||||
  134. 10:35 PM The man gives Helen a look and a shrug, as if to say its out of his hands, but refuses to budge. Behind him, the woman continues to rant at the lifeguard, gathering a large crowd of followers. The man doesn't move to block them, instead keeping his attention firmly on Helen herself.||
  135. 10:39 PM
  136. <Thalia|Helen> Maybe she should have asked how she should dress for her date... was that a date? Goddess, she hoped it was. Helen looks too the crowd. "So, your only job is to stop me... not any of the other people make a crowd, huh?"||
  137. 10:45 PM
  138. <•Forge|GM> Forgery Another shrug, another look, this time a bit more accusatory. "Gotta trust my instincts." As the man stares Helen down, the woman behind him shrieks, pointing towards the water. Over near the island, blood has begun to pool in the water, more surfacing along with ripped swim trunks. A moment later, the woman sprints down to the shoreline, stopping just short of diving in the water. She glances out towards the island, gaze moving back and forth, as if
  139. 10:45 PM looking for something. With a final glance at Helen, the man joins the woman, both crouching at the water line. The crowd and lifeguard seems somewhat stupefied by the sight, staying where they are, murmuring amongst themselves.
  140. 10:45 PM ||
  141. 10:50 PM
  142. <Thalia|Helen> Man, she didn't even have time to play the race card. And there was no way that was good... this whole town was going to end up like that town on Jaws, wasn't it? Where they had to pay someone to hunt the shark or whatever the fuck this thing is going to be. Eh, wasn't her concern, but she'd watch this part. 150. <•Forge|GM> Forgery Sadly, from this distance, Helen can barely make out anything. As the woman is crouched down, her companion kneels down beside her, whispering in her ear. The two embrace, their focus still on the island in the water.||
  151. 11:02 PM → Druza joined ([email protected])
  152. 11:09 PM
  153. <Thalia|Helen> Oh well, can't be too important to her, can it? She'll have to decide on how to call in that favor later, won't she? Things for another time. Something like this would probably show up on the news and it would... well, hard to say what it could be. There's an urge to push this crowd further, but she's done plenty for the day already. If she planted too many seeds, some other people would probably get upset. Well, Helen should probably
  154. 11:09 PM head back home. That was plenty of walking already... and she had something to get ready for tonight.||
  155. 11:13 PM
  156. <•Forge|GM> Forgery The walk back to town is quiet, the crowds remaining on the beach as Helen leaves them. Above her, the Strifes start to collect themselves back into her golden entourage, having indulged themselves on the dockworkers and the beach. The tourists have begun to come out again, the restaurants crowded with the late afternoon lunches that only those on vacation can justify having. A few Strifes dart here and there within the crowd, passersby objecting to
  157. 11:13 PM their meals or their companions. Against the side of the square, Jasper waves Helen over, leaning against the half empty stall of fish and shellfish.||
  158. 11:20 PM
  159. <Thalia|Helen> When Helen walked through town, people knew. Given, they didn't know it was her, but she was like a boat leaving chaos in its wake. Kind of weird to think that her roommates would just cause so much trouble all the time. Helen waves back at Jasper and heads over. At least the delivery was done.||
  160. 11:23 PM
  161. <•Forge|GM> Forgery As she walks up, Jasper puts up a handpainted closed sign on the ladder up to his boat, waving away the few interested customers browsing his wares. After a glance over his shoulder, the fisherman jumps down to meet Helen face to face. "So, how did the delivery go? Did you give Audrey the package? Was there any trouble?" There's a hint of worry in his voice, though not distrust. Jasper gives another glance over his shoulder, out towards the bayou.||
  162. 11:35 PM
  163. <Thalia|Helen> "Alright, actually. Whatever was in there was very feisty, but I didn't drop the box and it didn't get out. Handed it off to Audrey without much of a problem." Helen tucks her hair back behind her ear while she's talking. She didn't even ask what was in there... not like she cared now and she doubted he would have said before.||
  164. 11:42 PM
  165. <•Forge|GM> Forgery "Good... good." Jasper lets out a sigh, then with another glance towards the bayou, looks back towards Helen. "Tonight, you may want to keep an eye out for trouble. Scuttlebeak made a new harbinger, though I don't know if she knows what that means. She's... dangerous, if a bit lacking in the brains department. Pretty sure she killed the men earlier today." Another glance, another exhale. "Its gonna be a rough week."||
  166. 11:49 PM
  167. <Thalia|Helen> "Jasper, when you have karma like mine, pretty much every week is a rough week. If I get lucky, maybe I'll run into her with Vincent around." That would be /great/. If she was as bad as that, that would totally clear up a lot of problems. "And yeah, something was happening out by the beach too. Literally saw some blood in the water..."||
  168. 11:50 PM
  169. <•Forge|GM> Forgery "Birchwood?" Jasper raises an eyebrow, seemingly interested. "Blood around an island that wasn't there before, eyes shifting in the trees?"||

  171. <Thalia|Helen> "I did see an island, but that was as far as I got. A lot of people were interested and keeping an eye on things. Big crowd and some guard was there blocking me..." The end comes out more bitter than she wanted, but it was what it was. Man, why was he singling her out?||

  174. <•Forge|GM> Forgery "A guard?" Jasper rubs his chin. "God knows what that's about. Normally the O'Sheas just get people out of the water if Birchwood is in the area. If someone got attacked, even with a guard... hm." Jasper trails off, still rubbing his chin. "Audrey do anything about it?"||
  175. 12:07 AM
  176. <Thalia|Helen> Helen shakes her head. "Not at the time I was leaving. There was just some woman chewing out a lifeguard for telling everyone to get out, I think? I sort of missed THAT part, just got the chewing out." And Helen would have done something if she could have, but she doesn't exactly exist to make situations better.||
  177. 12:12 AM
  178. <•Forge|GM> Forgery "Huh. I guess I should go talk to Nora about it, unless you want to...?" Jasper seems to leave the invitation up in the air, neither asking it directly nor revoking it. "Either way, thanks for doing the delivery. Audrey's a good customer that I want to keep coming back as long as I can. Give any thought to what you want from me, yet?" Again, the same sort of tone, inviting Helen to answer without insisting on one.||

  181. <Thalia|Helen> "I have no idea, actually." Helen says directly. Honestly, she kind of figured it was something she might keep around until she had something more solid she needed. She's sure the right time would come when it came. "And it might be better if you talk to Nora." The strifes felt like they were doing a LOT today. She wouldn't want to spread it out too much.||
  182. 12:34 AM
  183. <•Forge|GM> Forgery "Well, when you decide what you want, you know where to find me. In the meantime, I'll go talk to Nora. Enjoy the rest of your day off, Helen." With a smile, Jasper heads back onto his ship, leaving Helen to bask in the swiftly setting sunlight.||
  184. 12:41 AM
  185. <Thalia|Helen> Good luck, Jasper. "Will do!" Helen says as she waves at him and starts heading back home. If she was spending some time with Audrey tonight, she needed to make sure she looked more... respectable? Probably a good way to say it. Not many girls wore top hats around town.||
