- What Games I've Played: MHF1, MHF2, MHFU, MHTri, MHP3, MH3U, MH4U, MHFrontier, MHStories, MHGen, and MHW
- Name: Lucas Gibbs
- Age: 32
- Gender: Male
- Race: Human
- Height: 6' (1.82m)
- Appearance: A hulking brute of a man, with more scars than he cares to count. Heavily muscled from lifting his heavy shield and armor, his bulk is practically required to control his gunlance. Notable is a wide burn scar on his left pectoral stretching to his neck, though it isn't deep enough to affect functionality. He has fiery orange hair and a scruffy beard, with dark blue eyes.
- Personality: Lucas is an experienced veteran Hunter, and always uses his accumulated knowledge to adjust to current situations. Despite his rough or even 'wild' appearance, there is almost always a smile on the man's face, the man almost always aching for adventure. However, the sight or even sign of a Rathian tends to elicit fear in him, the she-wyvern being the cause of a two month stay in the Guild hospital.
- Special Skills:
- Smithing Adept: Lucas has learned enough from his mother's forge to complete basic to moderate field repairs on his (and other's) equipment. The abuse on his equipment practically demands as much.
- Ecologist: Lucas has been at this for over a decade, and absorbs monster information like a sponge. He finds tracks and other marks more easily than others, and is more likely to be successful in tracking a target down than others.
- Armor: Ruby Basarios (Heavy)
- Weapon: Modified Type 62 Stormlance (Niblesnarf Gunlance, Wide Shells)
- Detached bayonet (only after Wyvern's Fire)
- Special Equipment:
- Gunlance En-Block clip: After loading and reloading his gunlance time and time again, Lucas and his mother have found a way to make the process quicker.
- Special Gunpowder Blend: Made from a small bit of dried up Devil's Blight and a heaping helping of Gunpowderfish scale, this blend makes the Wyvern's Fire more potent. Unfortunately, this also overheats the barrel to the very edge of the material's tolerance, causing a longer cooldown. Repeated usage may damage the gunlance, which will require maintenance before being used again.
- History: Born in Dondruma, Lucas had a childhood much like many others. Born to a blacksmith and a baker, he quickly grew accustom to sweltering heat, whether it be from his father's oven or his mother's forge. He, like many children, looked up to the Hunter's Guild, and also those Hunters that would purchase tools or weapons from his mother, and applied as soon as he was able to. The training was rough, and he spent more than a few nights in a hospital recovering from wounds suffered either during training or out in the field. While he does have training for every weapon the Guild has, his attention was quickly drawn to the gunlance. It seemed almost fitting, as he would be using fire as his parents did, for yet another purpose: killing wyverns.
- After speaking with his mother about the weapon, she forged him several quickloaders. She made a comparison to those and the detachable magazines that bowguns have. They also have her initials stamped on the back (S.G.).
- Lucas' own experiments had him create a more powerful gunpowder than the Guild provides for Wyvern Fire usage, though he nearly killed himself once or twice making it. It requires specific amounts of gunpowderfish and Devil's Blight and a steady, slow hand to make, but the blast is incredible. The blast was so powerful, it practically shattered his training gunlance. He now only uses gunlances made from creatures either fire-resistant or blast-resistant, to avoid another accident.
- Fate nearly drew the final curtain for him when he was tasked to grab Rath eggs for a conservation effort. While he was with 3 others, they failed to alert him to the Rathian coming to check on her brood. Her retaliation left him in critical condition, as Lucas had taken a fireball directly to the chest, and was then smacked with her tail (only just barely evading the thorns through sheer dumb luck). His team, thankfully, heard both her scream and his agony-induced cry. Two distracted the angry mother and a third pulled him away, administering burn first aid and then popping an SOS flare for quest abandonment. It took Lucas two months to recover, leaving a nasty scar but little more thanks to the swift medical care from the Guild.
- Though she threw fire at him, it failed to snuff out the fire he had for his job. Aside from his newly acquired phobia of Rathians of all kinds, his urge to explore and fight was not extinguished, and he was out in the field the instant he was cleared to go. Ten years later, with a number of completed quests under his belt, he responded to a rapid knocking on his door...
