  12. Description: Jones, who had worked as a farmhand for the Plylers as a teenager, went to the Plyler’s home with a stolen shotgun and broke in. He found a pistol inside and began shooting a wall, before shooting the Plyler’s three dogs. He then waited for the Plylers to get home. When they arrived home, Jones appeared with the shotgun and shot Ned near his heart as he demanded money. Jones then pulled out the pistol and demanded $79,000 and the money Ned had in his pocket, demanding Geraldine take the money out of her dead husband’s pocket, which she couldn’t do. When Jones grabbed the money out of Ned’s pocket, Ned groaned, prompting Jones to shoot Ned in the back of the head. Geraldine pleaded with Jones to stop, but he shot Ned a 2nd time in the head. He then told Geraldine that he “had always wanted her”, and directed her inside the house, where he r*ped her at gunpoint, before tying, bounding, and gagging her, telling her he’d be back in the morning so she could write a check out to him. Geraldine escaped after Jones finally left for the evening, after briefly coming back to see if she was trying to escape.
