  1. Think of a white goalie mask to fit a scowling Donald Duck and his bill. Lean it against a pair of criss-crossed yellow hockey sticks, with a backdrop of a black circle and an inverted teal triangle.
  2.
  3. The official crest of the expansion Mighty Ducks - make that the mean Mighty Ducks - is the hard edge of sports meeting the soft side of Toontown. It's like Minnie Mouse giving up her red and white dotted dress for a pair of black running shorts and gray tank top.
  4.
  5. With the crossed hockey sticks, the frowning duck goalie mask could be a take on the menacing skull-and-bones theme, a far quack from the wholesome image Disney has tried to project over the years.
  6.
  7. "We `Goofyized' Jason," said Walt Disney Co. Chairman Michael Eisner, referring to the goalie mask that was worn by a character in the "Friday the 13th" film series.
  8.
  9. Eisner said the logo had to be somewhere between "Disneyesque and hockey-mean," not too light and silly, not violent, but with a sense of humor.
  10.
  11. Eisner fluffed up the team's new feathers Monday at the Anaheim Arena. The home jersey is white trimmed at the V-neck with black and burgundy, and large, diagonal teal bands and silver and burgundy stripes at the waist and sleeves. For road games, the jersey is burgundy, the bands and collar-trim are teal and white, the sleeve and waist stripes remain silver and white. The pants are burgundy with vertical white-trimmed teal stripes at the sides.
  12.
  13. Officially, the color name is burgundy, but the actual uniform designed by Disney costumers uses a darker shade - plum.
  14.
  15. Whatever the hue name, burgundy isn't the kind of color found easily in an animated Disney movie or in Disneyland. It's dark and brooding.
  16.
  17. Teal, on the other hand, is the newest popular color in sports, showing up on the uniforms of the NHL San Jose Sharks, the NBA Charlotte Hornets and baseball's Florida Marlins. It's also a popular color for Honda Accords and Ford Tauruses.
