  1. [18:59] Alumdra Illhardt says, "-- You should use a sword."
  2. [18:59] Toratori Hintze says, "Hmmm"
  3. [18:59] Toratori Hintze exclaims, "I've been thinking about it actually!"
  4. [18:59] Alumdra Illhardt says, "Mmmm..."
  5. [18:59] Alumdra grabbed a sword from under her cloak, to grab-ass a spare sword - to toss to him.
  6. (Alumdra Illhardt)
  7. [18:59] Alumdra Illhardt says, "Do you - uh."
  8. [18:59] Alumdra Illhardt asks, "Know how to use that?"
  9. [18:59] Toratori Hintze says, "HMMM."
  10. [18:59] Alumdra Illhardt says, "Like.. Hold it."
  11. [18:59] Holding the blade by the grip, he blurs out Alumdra's words as he raises it high above his head.
  12.
  13. It was a simple swing, one that he's seen several swordsmen practice before they go into battle. One of the principles, if not the basics that someone would have to master before they'd brag about being called a master swordsmen.
  14.
  15. So he gave it a go.
  16.
  17. With his left foot placed infront of his right, he swung it down hard.
  18.
  19. "Ooh SHIT! DODGE ALUDMRA DODGE!" his voice boomed as the blade slipped from his hands as it went spiraling towards them at a high velocity! "JUMP OR SOMETHING!" he panicked!
  20. (Toratori Hintze)
  21. [18:59] A moment.
  22.
  23. Two moments. She'd just dash out of the way, truly. She was a springing little woman - and springing is what she did. Out of the way, mildly, though; her foot rose to catch the handguard of the blade. A moment was taken, as she rose her leg up and recovered the blade - to step back towards Tora. Patient, at the very least.
  24.
  25. "Okay. We'll work on holding it, first and foremost."
  26.
  27. She'd offer the hilt to the man - for his grubby hands to surely take, and promptly guide him how to hold it. Swordsmanship was a habitual practice, after all; one only got good through muscle memory and discipline.
  28.
  29. Or, so she thought.
  30.
  31. "Now. We're going to do a basic hold, and a basic stance. We need to practice such -- during your swings, you need to try and stop the blade, after sending it forwards."
  32.
  33. She'd guide her Uncle's hands - to grip the blade near the center of the hilt - both thumbs 'vertical' up the shaft. Side by side, with fingers used to grip; uncomfortable to unpracticed hands, surely.
  34.
  35. "Now - bend your knees, and keep a low center of gravity. Power in your rear-most leg. Use your front one to tilt you backwards, and your rear leg to help 'spring' the blade down."
  36.
  37. "Imagine a target in front of you, but try not to hit the target.
  38. (Alumdra Illhardt)
  39. [18:59] Tora winced as the blade swirled towards, Alumdra. Watching the blade dance through the air towards her.
  40.
  41. "Noooo!" he yelled dramatically, but Alumdra was far to pose to let a simpleton like himself, to strike her with a wildly thrown weapon.
  42.
  43. With what seemed like to be second nature for the Drakan, he watched as they effortlessly glided away from harm, swiftly raising their foot to catch the blade at it's handguard before returning it safely to her hand.
  44.
  45. "Ooo.." he hummed as he high-fived himself several times, applauding Alumdra for her elegant performance.
  46.
  47. "Definitely meant to do that." he smiled as Alumdra walked back towards him with the weapon in hand, quickly handing him the blade as they were back to square one..
  48.
  49. "Alright..."
  50.
  51. Spacing his feet to shoulder length, he took on what he assumed was the practice stance. He gripped at the handle, feeling the metal conform to his grip. It was slight, but it had spots were his digits would stay comfortably.
  52.
  53. "Heh, if I manage to do this..." his eyes widened as the possibilities for him then would be endless.
  54.
  55. With Alumdra as his guide, his thumbs aligned themselves against the shaft. He then bent his knees slightly at her beck and call. Slowly, he'd rock back and forward. Just to get an idea of what she meant by his center of gravity. Soon finding out as the blade had added more weight to his form, throwing his balance off more than usual.
  56.
  57. Tora took his time, being patient with the process as he eventually regulated his form to the new technique.
  58.
  59. "Okay..." he whispered to himself as he withdrew a sharp breath. Closing his eyes. He'd raise the blade towards the skies, focusing each fiber muscle within his body to control the blade as if it was apart of himself, an extension of a sort.
  60.
  61. Controlling his breathing, he imagined a enemy that stood before him. Quietly, he remained patient for a while before deciding he was ready. Not moving an inch before he acclimated himself to the new form.
  62.
  63. "HA!"
  64.
  65. His eyes fluttered opened as he swung down the blade with all his might, in one singular motion. He brought the blade towards the ground, striking the imaginary foe straight down the middle.
  66.
  67. The blade stopped mere inches before the ground, the weight of his force cracked the ground underneath as he maintained control of the blade this time.
  68.
  69. "HEY HEY HEY!?!?!?" his voice roared as he threw his hands up wildly.
  70.
  71. "I DID IT!"
  72.
  73. Reaching forward with his sword in hand, he'd pull Alumdra into a tight hug before letting her go.
  74.
  75. "LOOK AT YOU TEACHING YOUR UNCLE SOMETHING NEW HAHA!" his laughs boomed at his newly found achievements!
  76.
  77.
  78. (Toratori Hintze)
  79. [18:59] Toratori Hintze says, "Hehe~"
  80. [18:59] Toratori Hintze exclaims, "Hey Alumdra! Agnes! Thank you!"
  81. [18:59] Toratori Hintze says, "Anyways, I'm afraid it is getting late so I'll have to retire soon. But it was still a pleasure to see you two, and thank you for teaching me a thing or two bird brain~"
  82. [18:59] A moment taken, and a moment spared.
  83.
  84. Sure - there were other intricacies that she could rouse to teach him - the difference in bladestyles, depending on where you put your hand; how each of them would fight, practically - but, it seemed like Tora was the kind of man to figure much of this out on his own.
  85.
  86. So, watching him do his swing, she'd bob her head twice - a nod of approval, before she was kidnapped into a firm hug. She'd embrace the man for a moment, and then she'd release him - to nod in agreeance.
  87.
  88. "Aye. Late it is. We'll be on our way, Uncle Tora. Have a good one!"
  89. (Alumdra Illhardt)
