- HOW TO FIND MANIPS:
- 1. Save game
- 2. Set IGT frame to 00 using igt_util
- 3. Manip Nidoran encounter
- 4. Execute catch and text boxes perfectly
- 5. Hit nickname frame X
- 6. Save state before NPC enters screen
- 7. Find a good path with no encounters*
- 8. Note this path
- 9. Start demo recording
- 10. Repeat steps 3-5
- 11. If you hit a frame you haven't seen before, stop recording and repeat steps 6-10. If not, proceed to step 12
- 12. Execute the path you found in step 6
- 13. Play the demo file on frames 01-32, 34-35 and 38-59, noting the results from each
- 14. If the path is 50/60 or better, note it. If not, repeat steps 6-13
- 15. Repeat steps 2-14 until all possible nickname frames (roughly 10-15) are noted
- *Path should get the Potion before Weedle Guy (and then get the exclamation point). Do NOT get the Tree Potion. This is faster because you want to walk as many tiles as possible while the manip is still active. If you're planning to skip the Potion, just talk to Weedle Guy.
- HOW TO USE DEMO RECORDINGS IN BGB (Windows):
- - Open your BGB folder in the Command Prompt
- - Assuming your ROM name is pokemonred, type the following: bgb -rom pokemonred.gb -demorec pokemonred.dem
- - BGB should open normally; you should now play whatever you want recorded
- - To view the recording, type the following: bgb -rom pokemonred.gb -demoplay pokemonred.dem
- - To edit the IGT of your recording, drag your SAV file into igt_util, then type in the new IGT using the format from line 2
