  1. --- Intro Demos (for Vive users) ---
  2.
  3. Nvidia VR Funhouse [OSF](S/F/3/R/C!): Physics tech demo from Nvidia taking place in a carnival, demonstrating all sorts of materials, fluids, and flames, and makes very good use of the haptics in your controllers.
  4.
  5. --- Intro Demos (for Rift users) ---
  6.
  7. Dreamdeck [OF](S/F/3/R/G!C!): An extremely short non-interactive animation that puts you through a few different environments. Worth a quick watch right after trying First Contact. Recommended only for Rift users (because it's more easily accessible right after setting up).
  8.
  9. --- Games ---
  10.
  11. The Mage's Tale [O $40](F/3/R/C!): A Sequel to The Bard's Tale series. First person RPG dungeon crawler with hand-based magic spell combat. Pretty fleshed out singleplayer with decent variety in gameplay where you have puzzles and exploration. There's also a story and voiced characters. Great looking visuals in some places. Some bad graphics/animations in other places, showing the artistic limits of a smaller AA production scope. 8-12 hour length.
  12.
  13. The Climb [O $50](S/F/3/R/G!C!): Very good graphics. By Crytek. Use your hands (or even play with gamepad) to climb various different environments including tropical mountains, glaciers, and more. Some gameplay mechanics can be a bit finicky and it's mainly a "get to the goal" game with speed or score chasing. It is better as a good "experiential" or touring app than a game. Too expensive for the amount of content (sale price can get down to $30-20 which makes it good). Needs a beefy PC (max graphics are possible with a 1080).
  14.
  15. Chronos [O $40](S/G!): A more traditional Zelda/Dark Souls style action adventure RPG. You're placed somewhere in the environment looking at a character from a distance and controlling him/her (using gamepad). Mechanics simpler than Dark Souls and a shorter game at 10 hours. Good quality graphics/art and production value worthy of a small AA production scope. Doesn't use many innovative VR mechanics but it was crafted to immerse you well using the headset with scenic locations in the environment. Herobound: Spirit Champion on the Oculus store is free and is basically like the kid friendly baby brother of this game so if you liked that then this is what you really want.
  16.
  17. Wilson's Heart [O $40](F/3/C!): A narrative adventure. If you want to feel like you're in a 40's black and white thriller/horror flick, this is worth trying. Lasts 5 hours and has an interesting story with characters, as well as pretty good graphics and production value. A small AA production scope with voice acting, animation, and story to last the time. However it's not really much of a game as it was designed to be extremely casual and easy, and a lot of the gameplay isn't interesting or worthwhile. It works kind of like the point and click games where you cut or teleport to set points of interest in the environment. There isn't much NPC interaction. Might be more recommendable on sale.
  18.
  19. Edge of Nowhere [O $40](S/G!): A third person tomb raider style game with a Cthulhu At the Mountains of Madness theme/story. A thriller adventure with some scary parts. Decent but simple art and production value with a small AA scope. Not very challenging or complex, and gameplay lacks variety. More of an experience. A little short at 4 hours. Recommendable on sale.
  20.
  21. Airtone [OS $30](S/F/3/R/C!): Aesthetically attractive and well designed Japanese music rhythm game where you're flying through pretty environments and hitting beats kind of like in Osu!, although it is only predefined beat maps to their own songs. Features an anime style character as your partner/guide. It begins easy and then gets very challenging. Make sure to set the voice acting to Japanese, because the English dub is pretty bad.
  22.
  23. Katana X [S $13](3/R/C!): The go-to object slicing simulator including fruit and tatami mats. Does Fruit Ninja VR better than the official Fruit Ninja VR game, and has much more realistic physics.
  24.
  25. Dreadhalls [OS $10](S/F/3/R/G!C!): Pure horror escape the labyrinth game. Procedurally generated levels. Monsters. No weapons. Jump scares, but good players who learn the mechanics and behaviors of the game will adapt and learn how to not get jump scared, while still remaining in a very tense atmosphere. Warning: do not use analog yaw or turning control in this game as it has been known to cause motion sickness.
  26.
  27. Batman Arkham VR [OS $20](S/F/3/R/C!): You get to be the Batman. Great graphics and production value. Not an action game. Basically a crime solver. Extremely short on the level of 1-2 hours and plays more like an interactive experience than a game with much challenge. Has a narrative with characters, animation and voice acting on the level you'd expect from a AAA studio, although the story itself is a bit sad and unfulfilling. Recommendable on sale.
  28.
  29.
  30. --- More Freebies + Shorter Content ---
  31.
  32. Lucky's Tale [OF](S/G!): Short, simple, and kid friendly 3D platformer where you're looking down at a little fox and controlling him using a gamepad. Simple and clean graphics that makes you feel like you're in the world of a miniature toy set. Is a collectathon. Movement in this game may cause motion sickness for some people.
  33.
  34. Herobound: Spirit Champion [OF](S/G!): Cute third person action adventure game with old Zelda inspirations. You're looking down at a little hero who needs to go dungeoning to save the world. If you like the gameplay in this then you need to check out the more advanced Chronos recommendation above.
  35.
  36. Mission: ISS [OF](S/F/3/R/C!): NASA recreation of the ISS in VR. Float and move around in zero gravity. Learn about the ISS with documentary style tidbits. May get some people motion sick.
  37.
  38. Aircar [OF](S/G!): Think of piloting a flying car in Bladerunner. This is exactly that experience. It features a sizable city crafted with very good graphics and music to make for a cyberpunk setting oozing with atmosphere.
  39.
  40. Cosmic Sugar [SF](S/F/3/R/C!): Cool looking floating particle physics simulator that feels almost like you're controlling a sea of stars.
  41.
  42. Dead & Buried [OF*](F/3/R/C!): Western style shooting gallery game with singleplayer, multiplayer PVP, and co-op "horde" mode fighting off waves of enemies. *Free with purchase of Oculus Touch - only recommended for Rift users and if you have organized friends to play it with, or else the singleplayer shooting gallery isn't too fun and matchmaking doesn't work.
  43.
  44. Irrational Exuberance: Prologue [SF](F/3/R/C!): Surreal physics rock crystal interactive experience thing in space.
  45.
  46. Henry [OF](S/F/3/R/G!): Short animation. Feels like you're in a cute Pixar short.
  47.
  48. Dear Angelica [OF](S/F/3/R/G!C!): Semi-animated short with a drawing-come-to-life kind of feel. Made almost entirely with Quill. Very beautiful and surreal.
  49.
  50. Gnomes & Goblins preview [SF](R/C!): Short interactive experience where it feels like you stepped into a magical fairy forest. Requires a lot of room.
  51.
  52. Allumette [OSF](S/F/3/R/G!): Short animation that feels more like you stepped into a claymation film, but quite beautifully crafted.
  53.
  54. Realities [SF](3/R/G!C!): High resolution scans of real life environments, using photogrammetry.
  55.
  56. Fantasynth [SF](S/F/3/G!C!): A passive surreal music experience where you're floating through cool looking animated environments reacting to the beat.
  57.
  58.
  59. --- Optional Freebies "because why not" ---
  60.
  61. Waltz of the Wizard [OSF](3/R/C!): Cute little magic spell crafting experience.
  62.
  63. Trials on Tatooine [SF](R/C!): Star Wars demo where you get to deflect lasers with your lightsaber for a short moment.
  64.
  65. Lost [OF](S/F/3/R/G!): Very short animation where you meet a big robot friend in a forest.
  66.
  67. Senza Peso [OSF](S/F/3/R/G!): A short beautiful boat ride through surreal environments.
  68.
  69. Accounting [SF](R/C!): Surreal interactive experience with Rick and Morty style humor.
  70.
  71. The Rose and I [OSF](S/F/3/R/G!C!): Short animation.
  72.
  73. The Cubicle [SF](R/C!): Surreal office worker experience.
  74.
  75. Bullet Train [OF](F/3/R/C!): Basically the tech demo that inspired Robo Recall. Nothing new if you've played Robo Recall but it can be interesting to see what they were doing early on.

  77. --- Other Upcoming Content To Hype And Be Disappointed By ---
  78.
  79. Lone Echo: A singleplayer story adventure game in space that looks like it'll play quite well since the mechanics in Echo Arena beta, a multiplayer spin-off, have received extremely positive reviews. The zero gravity movement system in particular was able to get almost no one motion sick, and the movement mechanics with being able to grip and move on all surfaces give incredible amounts of natural free movement. Looks like it might have AAA value in everything but play time which may be reasonably 6 hours. Coming July 20.
  80.
  81. Doom VFR: A VR spin-off of the main game that looks to be quite a bit shorter at maybe 6 hours reasonably, so something along the lines of a AA game that we've seen a bit of already in the VR industry. Hands-on reviews seem to like it. Coming later this year.
  82.
  83. Arktika.1: Singleplayer FPS with cool looking guns and stuff but gameplay looks like it might be bland and boring. By the Metro devs. Coming Q3.
  84.
  85. Killing Floor: Incursion: Buy my VR spin-off good goy. Might be a good or bland zombie game. Coming later this year.
  86.
  87. Gunheart: Interesting art style with giant insect creatures that you fight against in FPS gameplay. Developers have actually went onto Reddit to talk to everyone and listened to their feedback, so they're not bad. Looks to be of a small AA production scope. Coming this Summer.
  88.
  89. From Other Suns: Procedural starship FPS simulator with co-op. Looks to be like Star Trek: Bridge Crew except with L4D style gameplay in different environments rather than flying a spaceship. Looks like a small AA production scope. Coming Q3.
  90.
  91. Brass Tactics: Might become the go-to RTS based on tabletop gaming. Has a steampunk theme. Coming Q3.
  92.
  93. Seeking Dawn: MMORPG FPS by a Chinese company. Big claims. Some alright looking footage. Probably meh. Coming this summer.
  94.
  95. Half Life 2 VR: HL2 used to support older VR dev kits but they stopped updating for consumer headsets. A group of modders and developers alike have teamed up based on their love for Half Life in order to not only put VR support back into HL2, but remaster it by upgrading textures and implementing good VR gameplay mechanics like physical aiming and reloading. It should mean we'll get another 10+ hours fleshed out story driven campaign that many should love to relive in VR or experience for the first time. Announced to be coming "soon."
  96.
  97. 3 "full" games by Valve: They have announced that they're making 3 "full" VR games that are being design alongside their hardware. Might be some good stuff, and may come out in 2018 and 2019.
  98.
  99. Open world survival RPG by InXile: Their currently released VR title, The Mage's Tale, has been doing good enough that they're planning to make more VR games. It is "based on an existing franchise" so it could possibly be Wasteland. No other details have been revealed, but they have recently gotten $4.5 million from investors. Might be out in 2018 or 2019.
  100.
  101. Marvel Powers United VR: A decently big budget title by Marvel, Sanzaru, and Oculus Studios. Looks like it'll be basically Robo Recall, except with Marvel, optional co-op up to 4 players, and smooth locomotion. There will be 12+ playable characters. Currently confirmed are The Hulk, Deadpool, Rocket Raccoon, Captain Marvel, and Ronan The Accuser. Coming 2018.
  102.
  103. ANUBIS ZONE OF THE ENDERS : M∀RS: Remake of ZOE 2 with optional VR support for the whole game, in the cockpit. PC and SteamVR support is confirmed. Comes out in Spring 2018 on Playstation.
