  1. Seriously? What is scarier than dying? We spend our whole lives learning, growing, and experiencing everything the world has to offer. Then we die, and everything we've done on this planet, everything we've worked for, everyone we've met, all the other lives we've touched... none of that matters any more, because we're rotting in the ground (unless you believe in an afterlife -- I don't). I think the uncertainty is the scariest part. Nobody really knows at all what happens to our consciousness after dying, and people are naturally afraid of what they don't understand. It's not like you just don't wake up one day; your consciousness completely ceases to exist and I don't think humans are very good at conceptualizing what that actually means or feels like.

  3. I mean, sure, it's completely inevitable and the sooner we can accept that, the sooner we can get on with living our lives. But still, it's terrifying for me to think that I'll someday have to leave this magnificent place behind without being able to experience everything that I'd like to. I think this is what OP is getting at by freezing his noggin -- by doing so there is a chance that he won't have to confront his actual death (at least not now) and that he'll be able continue to experience all that life has to offer.
