  1. -First and most important of all, you should always be touch-typing (never looking at the keyboard when you type)
  2.
  3. -If you find you're not using all of your fingers, try to incorporate as many as you can (not all of them will be necessary for success; i.e., I don't use my right thumb for any keys).
  4.
  5. -Work on accuracy if it's not too late (I suffer from bad accuracy because I never practiced it). This can be done through practicing on "instant death mode", a part of typeracer that kicks you out of races if you make a single mistake: https://play.typeracer.com/?universe=accuracy
  6.
  7. -If you find your accuracy is sufficient (always above 98%), and you want to type faster, spend some time practicing burst speed. This can be done through ghosting some of the shorter quotes found on the website, striving for top speeds by typing them as fast as you can. A list of all quotes sorted by length can be found here: http://typeracerdata.com/texts?sort=length
  8.
  9. -Type a consistent amount every day so you don't start to feel out of practice.
  10.
  11. -Don't quit races if you run into challenging quotes. By not avoiding these types of quotes, you'll get used to a wide variety of harder texts and words.
  12.
  13. -Finish every race you start, even if you feel like you're doing poorly. Be cognizant of the mistakes you're making frequently, and slow down whenever you encounter these patterns, until you get them right. Learn from your mistakes, don't run away from them.
  14.
  15. -Type for extended periods of time if you can. This way you'll increase your stamina & endurance, which is key if you want to be able to maintain speeds for longer. This being said, if you EVER start to feel tired or uncomfortable, or notice yourself slowing down due to fatigue, you MUST stop typing. This can create bad typing habits, or could cause injury in some cases, permanently hindering your typing career. It is important that you find a position for your hands that causes no pain whatsoever, to avoid any risk of injury.
  16.
  17. As far as how long these practices will take to show any improvement, it varies from typist to typist. I suppose it depends on how much work you put in to improving. I hope these tips help you on your way to become a faster typist!
