- These are the noms I disagree with or just want to clarify some reasonings.
- "Relicanth as a Choice Band user is nowhere near as splashable as Golem, wallbreakers again are everywhere, and Damp Rock sets aren't useful outside of Rain HO teams which have died down."
- 252+ Atk Choice Band Relicanth Head Smash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gourgeist-Super: 196-232 (52.4 - 62%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
- 252+ Atk Choice Band Golem Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gourgeist-Super: 160-189 (42.7 - 50.5%) -- 1.2% chance to 2HKO
- CB Relicanth breaks better with Rock STAB, but worse with secondary STAB. It may be less splashable but it has other good points that make it viable over Golem. For example, while its typing makes it more susceptible to electric-types, its greater mixed bulk and lack of a water-type weakness allows it to make trades vs things like swanna and silv-water, as well as other wallbreakers like pinsir, cb komala, and kadabra. Agree with Caboche's post.
- "Trevenant has found it hard to differentiate itself from Gourgeist now that all sizes are in ZU. From defensive sets to SubSeed sets to Omni-boosting sets, Trevenant has had a really hard time lately."
- I think dropping to C is more deserved because of its Choice Band set. All the other sets it has suck imo, especially z-forest curse. Band is its best bet to put in work due to how good its STAB combo is and how it can switch into resisted attacks somewhat well.
- "Chinchou is good at checking Zebstrika and Swanna and just about nothing else, while being incredibly passive and reliant on RestTalk and Eviolite for recovery and bulk."
- I think it's a common misconception that Chinchou checks Zeb/Raichu/Swanna and little else. On the surface that's true because that's what its typing+volt absorb gives it. In addition, what should keep it C is its ability to be an SSI to Electivire (like it really forces electivire to be played differently) as well as its ability to bring in wallbreakers off a slow volt switch and check a plethora of Pokemon simultaneously (i.e soft check Combusken, Floatzzel, Crustle and Golem offensively, Mareanie, Simisear, Simipour, Camerupt offensively and as an SSI, etc). It isn't even that passive since it clicks volt switch most of the time, providing momentum. Agree that rest-talk isn't too reliable and makes it more passive.
- "Meowstic-Female is extremely frail hazard removing deterrent even when compared to Pawniard and Purugly. It's coverage moves are also lackluster and it's fairly weak without a Competitive boost."
- 100 SpA Silvally-Water Surf vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Meowstic-M: 123-145 (42.5 - 50.1%) -- 1.2% chance to 2HKO
- 100 SpA Silvally-Water Surf vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Pawniard: 141-166 (61 - 71.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
- 100 SpA Silvally-Water Surf vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Purugly: 159-187 (56.1 - 66%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
- They're all 2HKOed after SR so it's not really fair to say it's extremely frail as defog deterrent when they all lose to silvally formes. May as well say they're all frail and that they offer much more than just being defog deterrent, which is the case.
- It also has all the coverage it would need (Tbolt, HP Ice or Fighting, Energy Ball, Shadow Ball, Signal Beam).
- I don't disagree with a drop but I want to clarify the reasoning. Meowstic-F has better bulk specially but is more susceptible to physical attacks/being revenge killed due to its typing, speed, and average physical bulk. Defog deterrent isn't even that good of a niche imo, and it's relatively inferior to kadabra so I'd never really use it on a serious build.
- "Gothitelle as another entry hazard deterrent Pokemon is bulkier than Meowstic-Female but is also slower, and both should probably be at the same rank."
- I agree that Gothitelle sucks as defog deterrent and honestly that's not even its niche anymore. It's similar to grumpig where Recycle+Berry+Taunt and special bulk is the main niche. Difference with goth is that has decent physical bulk and pivot into things and works vs slower teams, but is much more vulnerable to revenge killers and breakers due to its lower speed. just wanted to clarify the reasoning.
- "Z-Hypnosis Belly Drum Hypno is an extremely shaky sweeper, as it relies on a 60% accurate Z-Move (keep in mind this is your team's Z-Move) to incapacitate a foe. At +1 Hypno is also outspeed by nearly every single Choice Scarf user. Defensive sets are not enough to warrant its current rank either."
- Agree that Z-Hypnosis sets aren't good at all. However, Wish sets are pretty okay for what it's worth in this meta since it can check special attackers such swanna, combusken, and beheeyem. Sets itself apart from licky by being a fighting resist which allows it to fit on certain balance builds, which is enough for UU imo.
