  1.
  2. [10:00] Thrim Underforged says, "Mm."
  3. [10:05] Barry Garrick says, "Whatever's going on in Vdalion... wasn't me."
  4. [10:06] Barry Garrick dusts a bit of ash off his jacket before sitting.
  5. (Barry Garrick)
  6. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  7.
  8. [10:07] Thrim Underforged squints towards his brotha.
  9. (Thrim Underforged)
  10. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  11.
  12. [10:07] Thrim Underforged says, "Wha'."
  13. [10:07] Thrim Underforged says, "Datails. Also! Com', we doin' som' work."
  14. [10:10] Arriving at the forge, the dwarf quickly moved to where the mold rested! With a hammer, he would then remove the mold and take out the ingot inside, which was taken to a polishing wheel.
  15.
  16. Where he started to polish the metal.
  17.
  18. "Whil' we begin this, keep talkin'." He would say, before proceeding with the work.
  19.
  20. His hands moved carefully, turning the ingot as the wheel was moved - sanding and making sure the ingot was smooth, without serrations or the like.
  21.
  22. "Today we will do the runification." He explained before continuing.
  23. (Thrim Underforged)
  24. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  25.
  26. [10:10] * You have been awarded 4 Levels! *
  27. [10:15] "Keep talking? About what?" He took the chakram from his back, it was pretty wide and would get caught on things in the cramped forged. He held it up and let go, where time magic kept it suspended in the air. "Well, as I was leaving Vdalion and earthquake kicked off, no idea of the cause but I wasn't going to go back and look."
  28.
  29. "Here, let me get that." He moved his Brother's hands from the wheel and let him focus on the angles and force to which he was applying it. Instead, Barry took hold of the spindle and set the wheel into a constant smooth motion. Despite his usual tendencies, it was set at a reasonable speed.
  30.
  31. "Though, it seems Paprina might have invited someone else to stay and help with us, but I don't think they accepted. They're another bug lover anyway and I'd rather they didn't, you know, get all the creepy crawlies in the house." He'd been finding new bugs every day since Paprina joined them. It hadn't been pleasant.
  32.
  33. "What are you thinking of inscribing onto it anyway? And what will we even be using it for, after we've shown it off to everyone?"
  34. (Barry Garrick)
  35. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  36.
  37. [10:22] With his brother's help, the work would proceed more quickly. And apparently, the earthwake was what he was talking about - not a separate issue. So the topic was dropped.
  38.
  39. As was due.
  40.
  41. "Oh, I understan'." His voice echoed, a shrewd nod offered before him then...
  42.
  43. Finish polishing! And so with the metal ready, he took his chisel and other tools, taking these to the table - on which the material was placed. And then, through his runic knowledge, of the Stone Folk - he set to work.
  44.
  45. Carving, engraving that ingot.
  46.
  47. "We will make runes of strength, resistance, referring to the matrix stones of our people's homes." The answer was provided before an eyebrow rose, "Oh is tha' so? And why in particula' this bein' and by Ganur's beard, we have to speed up this project - to have space for everyon' soon.
  48.
  49. Maybe we have to explor' and clear the caves - to be able to build ther'." Something for the future, not now.
  50.
  51. Other foci in mind.
  52. (Thrim Underforged)
  53. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  54.
  55. [10:28] "Paprina simply invited them because they were both equal fans of bugs, that's all." With mention of speeding up the project there was a slight shift, Barry's hand coming to lightly rest upon Thrim's back. A moment of concentration later and everything around them seemed to slow down.
  56.
  57. The embers of the forge flickered in long winding strings of sparks. The light by which they worked swayed gently, like tall grass in a summer's breeze. And even the air seemed to thicken somewhat. But they continued to move at normal pace, or at least relatively normal. "If we have no time to waste with the project then let's squeeze as much as we can."
  58.
  59. Letting Thrim do the heavily lifting of the dwarven aspects of things, Barry went to draw some runes atop the workbench next to them with his spare hand. Despite already slowing things down around them he still moved at superhuman speeds, drawing a large winding circle which began to draw inambient mana around them, mana it would transfer into the ingot once Thrim had prepared his runes to jumpstart them.
  60.
  61. "Yeah the volcanic caves are going to be a pain to clear. But hey, we'll probably end up with enough fire crystals to last us a lifetime. Though, I doubt we'll be clearing out the main chamber until others from the clan get here. Some of those beasts in there can hit pretty damn hard."
  62. (Barry Garrick)
  63. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  64.
  65. [10:40] Lines were carved and through Barry's spells, time seemed to slow down and mana was accumulated to use! The clan craftsman started slowly and then, it took an increasing pace until then..
  66.
  67. It was starting to take shape..
  68.
  69. Runes that looked like an anvil, metals, that made paths through the ingot, just like those of veins, yet much more symmetrical and well made! Since it held circles and other shapes.
  70.
  71. Quite the sight.
  72.
  73. And once he was done, those runes were then imbued with mana.. Through Barry's efforts to accumulate and then redirect it through Thrim's hands! And so..
  74.
  75. It was done.
  76.
  77. The runes were ready.
  78.
  79. These were imbued with the tenacity, the toughness, the strength of the bedrock of the depths of dwarven strongholds! To make the resource more than suitable, for an armor or protective object.
  80.
  81. "Alrigh'.. That... will do." He explained, wiping the sweat from his forehead with the table cloth, "Naw, all that's left is to melt tha prismithium and then soak it in the forme' cravices." He would say and then turn his attention to Barry.
  82.
  83. Which should now help.
  84.
  85. "We can do it now, righ' away - or later, dependin' on wha' ya want to do." So he waited to see what would be decided.
  86. (Thrim Underforged)
  87. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  88.
  89. [10:45] The speed of the room seemed to return to normal as Barry withdrew his hand. For once he didn't seem to be winded by the effort either. Being in Meranthe had forced him to improve at least. "Well, we might as well do it now, but prisminthium has a massive melting point, so we're going to need to empower the forge a little."
  90.
  91. He went off to their alchemical collection and grabbed fistfuls of fire crystals, spreading them throughout the coals of the forge evenly, his own hands coated in a shell of Magma to protect them. When it was settled fire magics roared out, igniting it all. More magma magic rolled through, almost liquidating the coals.
  92.
  93. The forge was closed off from normal airflow and he moved to the side to where the bellows sat and began to force air through it, enhancing the heat even further. "It's a good job I installed a chimney in the roof for this thing, huh?" He pumped at a steady rate that was slowly accelerating.
  94.
  95. "Once it's gotten hot enough you'll need to add the metal. I advise protecting yourself with your earth magic... just in case."
  96. (Barry Garrick)
  97. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  98.
  99. [10:48] Without needing to say anything, the dwarf began to wrap itself around the earth! A thick, almost metallic layer taking shape around it! That would protect him from high temperatures.
  100.
  101. Before then bring the material, which was going to be used!
  102.
  103. As the last step of that project.
  104.
  105. First he took the ores from the chests! And then allocating them inside the most resistant metal pots they had - to be able to melt this one and then use it.. Now, he had it in hand.
  106.
  107. And waited the signal.
  108.
  109. "I'm ready when ya are, brotha." He informed his brother before then.. Wait, patiently.
  110. (Thrim Underforged)
  111. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  112.
  113. [10:56] "It might be best, Brother, for you to shield your eyes. But I'll do what I can." With the billows still pumping away a spare hand, coated in magma reached for the hatch above the coals. Pulling it open, raw heat speared outwards, attempting to lance anything in its path with a burst of raw heat.
  114.
  115. It was met with Barry's fire magics, fighting to force it upwards and away from Thrim, allowing him enough time to place the ore within the forge. With them inside the hatch was forced shut. "It is an annoyance that the properties of the metal prevent us from starting with a colder heat, but with its want to absorb the major elements gave us little option..."
  116.
  117. He took a moment to wipe his brow before getting back to the bellow, and making things even hotter, overcoming the innate absorption effects of the metal with sheer physics. It was a good job he was a natural runner, he doubted that Thrim would have had the stamina to maintain this as long ashe was.
  118.
  119. "Keep an eye on the metals brother, we'll only have a short window to cast it into the ingot before it rapidly cools back down once more."
  120. (Barry Garrick)
  121. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  122.
  123. [11:02] Through his Terran manipulation, the material was brought to them - the ingot, being prepared alongside! Before finally, the materials are inserted into the forge.
  124.
  125. The heat was high, dangerous even! But as a dwarf, a master of the forge - he didn't give up or walk away.
  126.
  127. "Aye, but we do wha' we must for the best product to be created!" His voice echoed as they continued to work..
  128.
  129. And when the prismithium reached a usable point, then that was when the dwarf removed it from within! And with precision, he proceeded to pour this over the runic crevices he had created earlier, slowly filling these - before the material began to freeze.. Solidify.
  130.
  131. When he finished everything, he pulled back and took a deep breath!0
  132.
  133. "Tha'.. should be enough, now let it cool and then! We'll have the material." So that brought their project to completion.
  134. (Thrim Underforged)
  135. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  136.
  137. [11:08] Shaky hands were removed from the bellows and Barry went to sit down with a huff. Heavy, heaving breaths from below the rising heat to try and get some of his burned stamina back. There was a smile on his face however as Thrim put on the finishing touches to their first project away from home.
  138.
  139. "I'm glad. That wasn't as bad as I was expecting at least. Though. Now we need another project." He gestured to the Chakram, still frozen in the air and a claw of shadow gripped at it, pulling it back to himself. "I have been thinking of upgrading this thing, it's still very clunky, despite the design."
  140.
  141. "Needs to be faster, y'know? More streamlined. And it needs to channel my mana faster, still way too slow. We have an abundance of blue mercury for it buuuuut." He hesitated for a moment. "I was wondering if I could use some of the eternite... it holds metaphysical magics extremely well and would allow me to filter moretime magic through it."
  142.
  143. "Though, of course, I still need to sketch up a design."
  144. (Barry Garrick)
  145. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  146.
  147. [11:09] Thrim Underforged says, "Aye, but we will do tha' in time.. For naw? Rest."
  148.
