[Verdant] Castes and Opinion

The caste system on the VERDANT operates similarly to ALTERNIA's. However, there are numerous cultural stereotypes and taboos which govern the behavior of castes on the VERDANT.

As it is on ALTERNIA, the hemospectrum is in full effect, and lowbloods make up the majority of VERDANT's population. The hemospectrum, though enforced, seems to be less inherently tense than it is on ALTERNIA or other colony planets, due to the peacefulness of VERDANT.

These caste descriptions are only meant to give more insight into VERDANT's culture and characters do not need to fit these stereotypes, though they may prove helpful when you are creating a character that was hatched on the planet. These are generalizations based on the planet's *societal perceptions* of these castes.

RUSTBLOODS are associated with mysticism, the tarot, death and rebirth, the cycle of rule, artisanal crafts, and time. They are venerated as the caste most connected to the spiritual on VERDANT. Their knowledge, at times, is considered to rival even PURPLEBLOODS'. RUSTBLOODS are also the likeliest caste to have psychic powers, though GOLDBLOODS are the likeliest to have -incredibly strong- psychic powers. RUSTBLOODS are generally laborers and merchants. RUSTBLOODS are the likeliest to serve as house servants due to being considered the 'most attentive' lowblood caste, though plenty of them also work the fields and do hard labor. Spirits and rumored 'shadowdroppers' prove no match for these experts at spiritcraft. Their positive stereotype is 'creative'. Their negative stereotype is 'unhinged'.

BRONZEBLOODS are associated with animal husbandry, the land, earth and the planet, loyalty, and family structures. They are known as the most trustworthy caste and, despite their low status, are considered excellent moirails. BRONZEBLOODS are also likely to have psychic powers. BRONZEBLOODS generally work as laborers and merchants. Most of them are farmhands of some sort, be it tending herds of cattle or growing crops. BRONZEBLOODS are considered to be good secret-keepers, excellent grub-tenders, and steadfast friends. Animals seem innately drawn to them, and nature seems to respond kindly to their touch. Their gardens are large, and their crops bountiful. Their positive stereotype is 'loyal'. Their negative stereotype is 'stupid.'

GOLDBLOODS are associated with the drones, psionic power, programming, intelligence, and destruction. They are referred to as the most intelligent lowblood caste, and are often seen as presumptuous and cocky due to their psychic prowess and intellect. GOLDBLOODS generally have the strongest psionic ability out of the lowblood castes, though are also less likely to receive said abilities. GOLDBLOODS are in charge of programming drones on VERDANT and assist highblood castes in genetic engineering projects/the determination of the future of grub breeding. GOLDBLOODS are often rejected as house servants and are rarely hired as hard labor due to the perception that they are difficult to work with and disobedient--therefore, GOLDBLOODS often make their money through either intellectual pursuits (growing gamegrubs, programming, assisting highbloods) or crafty pursuits (merchants who learn a skilled trade/craftsmen/plumbers or electricians.) Their positive stereotype is 'intelligent'. Their negative stereotype is 'disrespectful'.

OLIVEBLOODS are associated with primal urges, nature, quadrants, guardianship, isolation, and hermits. They are the first of three 'midblood' castes and are considered the protector caste. OLIVEBLOODS do not have psionic abilities as often as lowblood castes do, but make up for it with their sudden spike in physical strength. OLIVEBLOODS are generally employed as bodyguards or house servants due to the perception that they are protective of those they are fond of. They may also work as hunters or butchers. OLIVEBLOODS are generally considered to be the most knowledgeable caste regarding matters of love and hatred (red and black romance). They are often considered ideal matesprits (due to being competent, strong and passionate) and ideal kismeses (their physical strength, their lethality and their blunt nature). Their positive stereotype is 'guardian'. Their negative stereotype is 'outsider'.

JADEBLOODS are associated with mothering, guidance, mystery, the night, the moon, and societal responsibility. They are the second of three 'midblood' castes and are considered the progenitor caste. JADEBLOODS are tasked with the responsibility of overseeing the Brooding Caverns, and ensuring that non-Jade workers tend to grubs properly. JADEBLOODS are considered to be refined and beautiful, though also dishonest. JADEBLOODS are, in general, held in high esteem due both to the rarity of their caste and the importance of their work--therefore, there are few negative perceptions of them on VERDANT. JADEBLOODS are also considered to be excellent moirails and auspistices, as they are excellent at soothing others. JADEBLOODS are typically sociable, but can be perceived as dishonest--JADEBLOODS are often assumed to be saying whatever is most pleasant to their current companion, and can be nearly as two-faced as GOLDBLOODS. Their positive stereotype is 'nurturing'. Their negative stereotype is 'dishonest'.

TEALBLOODS are associated with law, order, decision, logic, governance, organization, and control. They are the third of the three 'midblood' castes and are also considered minor nobility--this means that, unlike jades and olives, TEALBLOODS cannot be kept as slaves. TEALBLOODS are viewed as wily and intelligent, as well as steadfast workers. TEALBLOODS typically pursue jobs related to the law, and at times may take up minor governing positions. TEALBLOODS may also be considered the 'paper pushers' of the land-dwelling nobility and tend to have less glamorous jobs. TEALBLOODS are, much like JADEBLOODS, considered to be excellent auspistices due to their logical and calculating nature--it is assumed that they are excellent at determining the precise flaws within a person's relationships, and will push them to a solution with ruthless efficiency. TEALBLOODS are known to be dogged advocates for their clients, and it is often worth the cost to hire one to represent you in court, to do your taxes, to organize your business, or to take down your opponent through legal means. Their positive stereotype is 'responsible'. Their negative stereotype is 'ruthless'.

CERULEANBLOODS are associated with impulsivity, irrationality, crimes of passion, adventure, cunning, and falsehoods. CERULEANBLOODS are the first rung of major nobility. CERULEANBLOODS are viewed as the most bloodthirsty of the teals-to-blues, due to their desire to solidify their social standing alongside INDIGOS and PURPLES. CERULEANBLOODS often operate as governors, adventurers, colonizers, and, at times, scientists. CERULEANBLOODS are perhaps one of the most negatively-viewed castes, as they are seen as manipulative social-climbers. They are also seen as aspirational and hard-working--one could never call a CERULEANBLOOD lazy. CERULEANBLOODS tend to discount lowbloods and midbloods and have an inflated sense of self-importance. However, they also have a great skill at seeing 'diamonds in the rough', be it treasures or people with great potential. Their positive stereotype is 'determined'. Their negative stereotype is 'impulsive'.

INDIGOBLOODS are associated with science, study, power, chivalry, dignity, dance, and nobility. INDIGOBLOODS are the second rung of major nobility. INDIGOBLOODS are seen as those who attempt to present themselves as the most refined, regardless of their actual leanings. They tend to enjoy social events such as ballroom dances, the opera, and musical theater. INDIGOBLOODS are likely to pursue art as a hobby, but research and governance is seen as their scope of work. INDIGOBLOODS tend to be the caste which work most closely with the DRONES, programming directives given by their blood superiors along with GOLDBLOODS. INDIGOBLOODS may find employment as scientists, researchers, artists, or socialites. INDIGOBLOODS are generally considered violently refined--an INDIGOBLOOD, while not as violent as a PURPLEBLOOD, will likely take great offense at slights committed by lowbloods, and will react in a way befitting nobility. They tend to take on house servants. Their positive stereotype is 'meticulous'. Their negative stereotype is 'cruel'.

PURPLEBLOODS are associated with religion, mysteries, ancient tomes, lies versus truth, freedom, and mirth. Their ways are confusing to many, and their varied religions are often viewed with superstition. PURPLEBLOODS are the third rung of major nobility. PURPLEBLOODS do not present themselves as refined, and are assured of their place in high society. Rather, they choose to embrace their role on-planet as RELIGIOUS LEADERS AND PROPHETS, and often take on RUSTBLOODS as spiritual communers within their CHURCHES. PURPLEBLOODS make their money as church leaders, augurs, leaders, governors, artists, and musicians. PURPLEBLOODS are seen as creative, joyful and uplifting. However, they are capricious, and their moods mercurial. PURPLEBLOODS are those who cull without thought, and have an immense amount of rage within them for those they view as liars or two-faced. PURPLEBLOODS, accordingly, have a rivalry with JADEBLOODS on this planet, who they view as dishonest coddlers. Their positive stereotype is 'honest'. Their negative stereotype is 'bloodthirsty'.

VIOLETBLOODS are associated with absolute rule, ownership, artistic sway, martial law, swordsmanship, sailing, and treasures. VIOLETBLOODS are often allowed to carry on as they please--however, VIOLETBLOODS are even rarer on ALTERNIA-VERDANT than they are on ALTERNIA due to the restricted availability of comfortable brackish water and the general undesirability of ALTERNIA-VERDANT to the caste. A planet that cannot be taken through war or controlled entirely is not one that appeals to the most war-inclined of the castes. VIOLETBLOODS are often governors, admirals, captains, and Fleet leaders in general. VIOLETBLOODS are seen as artistic, tortured, and mimic the stuffiness of the INDIGOBLOODS. Their moods are often mercurial in private, and it is considered difficult to be black for a VIOLET due to their infamous highblood tempers. However, VIOLETBLOODS are considered to be romantic and passionate, capable of showing unending love to the object of their affections. Their positive stereotype is 'competent'. Their negative stereotype is 'vain'.

FUCHSIABLOODS are associated with tyranny, the empire, sunlight, illumination, the depths, and 'apexes'. FUCHSIABLOODS have never been seen on-planet until three months ago. They are viewed with more distrust than VIOLETBLOODS are, which says a lot--they are considered to be violent, impulsive, and incapable of self-control. Many members of the planet fear FUCHSIABLOODS will immediately destroy the Caverns and the land at large in an attempt to defeat other TYRIANS. They are more favorably viewed as mothers to trollkind and the progenitors of the species--an ideal FUCHSIABLOOD, to natives of this planet, would be a feminine, motherly figure who is protective of trollkind and seeks its return to glory. FUCHSIABLOODS in their most idealized form are viewed as the apex of all trolls, the crown of the kingdom, the kindness and cruelty of its populace, vicious to enemies and fiercely protective of her children--Trollkind. Their positive stereotype is 'divine'. Their negative stereotype is 'demonic'.
