  1. [15:52] Trekking up the mountain, Revan would find himself filled with pride with how his recent meditations have gone. Letting loose of his mana as it tapped into the Lifestream that was woven around him. It was an enlightening experience, one that would make him feel much lighter, and at peace.
  2.
  3. As he exited the cave and walked up the cobbled walk way to Theria's square, he would spot the two most influential people in his life to date. "Greetings Father, Mr. Avitus.. How are you doing today?"
  4.
  5. The mana that coursed around him would not nearly be as violent as it was in the past but instead much calmer and wispy.
  6. (Revan Task)
  7. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  8.
  9. [16:00] Dun would turn his attention to the arrival of his young son, the only one in truth that actually followed in his footsteps as a pugilist. The elder of the Fireblooded would tap his chin thoughtfully as he glanced about this lazy day, contemplating to himself how he was to fix his boredom and make the hours of the eve more productive.
  10.
  11. Then it occurred to him with a blink.
  12.
  13. "If you are going to follow in my footsteps my son, you will need to master the gentle, killing fist of Id. One that I mastered and refined to its deadliest peak in synchronicity with my overdrive to punch people to pieces like it was nothing funny."
  14.
  15. The elder would nod lightly, clicking his teeth with a light chuckle.
  16.
  17. "But before you even touch the hardening, you need to get your senses down. Since you're not blind like me, it's not going to come naturally purely from combat, though that will be a good start. Tie on a blindfold, my son, and prepare yourself."
  18.
  19. Dun would then turn to Thalis.
  20.
  21. "Thalis, I need you to do no less than, at your fastest speed and greatest strength, beat the absolute shit out of my son without holding back. I'm talking broken bones, injuries, doesn't matter. He needs to develop his senses, to truly see mana as an energy magi must to interweave it with his fists and flow. You must fight as if he was a soldier on the battlefield you need to subdue by any means possible. Three boxing rounds in Rinn's old arena of brutality."
  22. (Dun Task)
  23. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  24.
  25. [16:05] There's a brief tip of the bowler cap towards the young Task. The days were so dull... Slow, fruitless hunts as he scoured Esshar. It wrought about a drowsy expression on his mug-- One that, thankfully, would brighten up at the notion of at least boxing with another.
  26.
  27. "Ain't need t' tell m' twice. Jus' 'ope th' kid ain't mind feelin' a jittery mana in th' air... Then 'gain, ain't t' sure 'ow m' mana e'en feels t' 'nother. This'll be a nice lil learnin' experience fer m'self as well."
  28.
  29. Flashing a smirk he'd begin to rise on up from his chair.
  30.
  31. "'el, might e'en 'elp m'self by doin' this. There's bound t' be some lesson 'ere tha' I can put int' m' fists...- Though I 'spose tha' might be better learned when I venture off t' th' temple."
  32.
  33. Shrugging he'd eye Revan for a moment or two.
  34.
  35. "Up fer a proper brawl then, kid?"
  36. (Thalis Avitus)
  37. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  38.
  39. [16:17] There would be an immediate nod from the bandaged Task, this is why he was here. He had learned in a calm setting how he could perceive without sight, to feel without touch. He hoped he had made enough progress that his father would begin to further his lessons. Mentioning the fist of Id once again would make his mana surge more excitedly.
  40.
  41. "I am ready, Father."
  42.
  43. Upon being asked to blindfold himself, he would begin rearranging the wrappings around his head, layering them into a blindfold that no light would make it past.
  44.
  45. He was not entirely sure what his father meant by The Hardening, however, he knew what to expect when he said sight. Steadying his breathing, he could truly only sense his immediate surroundings, the cobblestone beneath his feet, the table infront of him.. Then he felt it, the immaculate magical presence of both his Father and Thalis.
  46.
  47. It was when The Clown prince started to instruct his mentor, however, that there would be a hint of hesitation. Fighting.. Mr. Avitus? No bars held, all out.. Broken bones??
  48.
  49. This Task was no stranger to pain, he firmly believed it was the best teacher- however, wasn't this a bit much, all at once? He would swallow his fear, he was the son of Dun Task, after all. Even if his body broke, he could fix it, he would come back stronger- or so he told himself.
  50.
  51. "A Task never turns down a challenge." rising from his stool, he would do his best to keep that unmistakable blessed aura that lingered around Thalis.
  52. (Revan Task)
  53. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  54.
  55. [16:17] Dun Task says, "Very well."
  56. [16:17] Dun Task says, "Follow me."
  57. [16:21] Dun would lead the pair to the depths of the Therian cave system, clicking his teeth together solemnly with a hum as they made their way to the depths of the bloody arena. The one where countless people had lost their lives or body parts in the name of principle or glory. It was a curious thing, of that there was no doubt.
  58.
  59. But that was Theria.
  60.
  61. Reaching the center of the arena where he'd watched his daughter be bisected, the dour Task would only frown as his gaze flicked between Revan and Thalis, bowing his head with a nod as he prepared to oversee the brutal, no doubt injurious session of training that would now begin.
  62.
  63. "Remember Revan. Mana is everywhere, it is life itself. Every action has an intention, it's up to you to truly process the world around you, to be genuinely connected with it so that you might gather its power to augment your own."
  64.
  65. Dun would bow traditionally.
  66.
  67. "Begin. Hold nothing back, no matter how much it hurts him."
  68. (Dun Task)
  69. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  70.
  71. [16:26] The arena had been redone - How about that... Hazel hues scan the new interior with a fair amount of interest. Seeing it this clean was impressive, but perhaps this amount of cleanliness was done right after blood had soaked its floor. Clicking his teeth idly he'd let out a hum of amusement.
  72.
  73. Bowing his head in turn to Dun he'd promptly draw his fists up. One is held outstretched before his face, the other's tucked right into his chest. It wasn't a matter of striking for the man, but instead of how quick he could strike his targets.
  74.
  75. "E'ery Summer comes from a deathly Winter, youn'in'. Keep tha' in mind fer wha's t' come next."
  76.
  77. An idle tidbit from the Asenite. Revan could more than likely piece together what he meant; Hel, even Dun more than likely could figure it out. Yet he'd figured he should at least reassure the youth before the storm came rolling in.
  78.
  79. "When yer ready..."
  80.
  81. Without a moment's notice the first blow is cast first, the air vibrating with that ear-shattering hum.
  82. (Thalis Avitus)
  83. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  84.
  85. [16:36] The son and student would follow behind his two teachers, he couldn't get a good grip on the details of their bodies, simply the outlines of their auras. As they entered the dojo, it would simply feel like empty air to Revan.
  86.
  87. As Thalis admired the redecoration, and his father was forced to remember the bisecting of his daughter, Revan's sister, all his son could think of was how he would try to see in a room that felt like it had no life. A room that saw nothing but countless death and bloodshed. It was where he lost to Valero for the first time after being able to leave their home, where he witnessed a Drakan lose his life.
  88.
  89. Now Revan's blood was likely to stain this floor. Dipping into his stance, he would keep his feet steady on the stone, he was going to make Thalis come to him, no matter how bad of an idea that may have been, he was going to do his best to outspeed the lightning Ookami.
  90.
  91. With a deep breath, his cyan aura would expand, dimming slightly in it's brightness as the young Task tried to expand it as far as he could.
  92.
  93. ".. I suppose I'm as ready as I'll ever be."
  94. (Revan Task)
  95. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  96.
  97. [16:44] Without a moment to spare the Ookami's upon the poor teen. Flurries of blows crash down upon the young Task, bandages more than likely taking the full brunt of his fury as he danced around his target.
  98.
  99. Truth be told it would've been hard to even keep up with him without a blindfold on...
  100.
  101. Riding the invisible currents within the air, charge by charge explodes underneath his feet. This was how he achieved that enhanced velocity of his own - Quite literally repelling himself against the electrical charges within the air, bouncing to and fro as glancing strikes are made upon Revan.
  102.
  103. Well, up until he decided to let it all out.
  104.
  105. From his right hand came the increased humming of electricity. From Nyeshk black to Arcanium blue the golem core reacted to the sudden charge within the gauntlet-- A sharp CRACK! resounding in the air as it lashes out at the fellow pugilist, burning away a portion of the bandages.
  106.
  107. "Faster, kid,FASTER." Thalis barked out, "Y' ain't goin' t' 'it SHIT if y' can't e'en keep up with m' use o' mana. FOCUS." Soon enough the Avitus is right back on the Tasks' heels, a sweeping kick towards their knees cast forth!
  108. (Thalis Avitus)
  109. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  110.
  111. [16:51] Novia asks, "Fuck's going on here?"
  112. [16:52] Nephis asks, "Oh, Also. Hades?"
  113. [16:54] Hades Task asks, "Oh. Hm?"
  114. [16:55] Dun Task says, "Your brother is about to master sensing mana."
  115. [16:55] Dun Task says, "Or likely break a limb."
  116. [16:55] Dun Task says, "Probably both."
  117. [16:55] Everyone goes into a fight with a plan, until the first punch is thrown. That was the truth here, Revan hoped if he expanded his mana field out far enough, he could see The Ookami with enough time to react.
  118.
  119. However, all he felt was that presence, lightning fast, the teen couldn't even perceive the detail of where the punches and kicks would come from. Ducking his head down between his forearms, he would do his best to block against the assault that would throw him to and fro.
  120.
  121. Think. Think. Think.
  122.
  123. He had such a small field to work with, his father said that life was all around him, but was that true in such a stone room? He would have to improvise. One hand rushing down to the bag on his belt, he would grab a handful of seeds, charging them with energy as he would launch them in the direction he felt Thalis.
  124.
  125. None would land, but they weren't supposed to. The residual mana in them would force them to grow, roots creeping through the stone to find soil, sucking more mana from them as they blossomed. Every one of them that grew would further extend his vision, pockets of the room illuminating themselves to the blinded Task.
  126.
  127. He would then be able to track Thalis's movements- which only made Revan's head hurt even more- how could one man be so fast? Steeling his resolve he would retake his stance, going more on the offensive as he would charge at the last location he felt those foot steps.
  128. (Revan Task)
  129. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  130.
  131. [17:07] Thalis was extraordinary in his speed, relentless in his barrage of punches. Even as Revan started building a map of the arena with his mana, he still struggled to keep up.
  132.
  133. Feeling as if he was fighting multiple opponents with the various directions that each strike came from. Though, there was something that would stick out to him from Thalis's words:
  134.
  135. If y' can't e'en keep up with m' use o' mana
  136.
  137. Was Revan approaching this the wrong way? Was he too focused on using his mana solely to guide him? His meditation was a result of him offering his energy to the forest, and being granted with it's sight.. He tried to recreate such a thing in the stone arena, but that was only half of the puzzle.
  138.
  139. Slamming an acorn into the ground, more mana would be channeled into it as a mighty oak sprung forth from the ground, a momentary reprieve from the assault as it surely caught his teacher off guard.
  140.
  141. Taking a deep breath, he would let go of his sense of self. That's when he would feel it, the sparks that carried the ookami, his own circuitry flaring up as he tensed up for another strike. With a step to the side, he would catch the blow on his forearm, charging his own fist with energy as he slammed it into Thalis's gut to send him back a few paces- his first blow.
  142. (Revan Task)
  143. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  144.
  145. [17:07] {Item} Picked up a bag of 1000 dropped by Dun Task.
  146. [17:07] Dun would watch in thoughtful contemplation as Thalis ruthlessly laid into his son with nothing less than a tectonic beatdown the likes of which must be no doubt torturous to Revan's young flesh. Yet, the old man knew this was the kindle of resolve, the harder one was pushed, the further their limits rose to compensate.
  147.
  148. This sort of unbelievably speedy bout would be perfect for his growing mastery of his senses, only once he was capable of grasping the flow of mana would he truly be able to concentrate it, to inhibit its flow in others, to make it his own.
  149.
  150. Then Revan showed he was no completely weakling, entering the next round with nothing less than twice the gusto of the first in preparation for a no holds barred, bare knuckled brawl in the spirit of good, manly fun.
  151.
  152. It was ideal, of that there was no doubt.
  153.
  154. "Excellent. EXCELLENT. You must seize the day, Revan. Gather your SENSES. Your eyes will hold you back, you must see with your HEART BOY! LET YOUR RESOLVE BE GALVANIZED IN GLORIOUS COMBAT. FEAR NOT INJURY, ONLY SHAME."
  155. (Dun Task)
  156. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  157.
  158. [17:15] … Why were there so many people watching this man beat up a kid now? There's a glare shot towards the crowd before he gets back down to business.
  159.
  160. It's a dance of Summer - One that spoke of a storm that would revitalize the crops that had previously fallen. Strike by strike lands upon those bandages, drawing up bruises underneath the gauze surely.
  161.
  162. As the acorn's slammed into the ground, the oak springing up in place, the Avitus hunkers down to the ground. It's a sharp, crackling of electricity that coats his arm as he darts forth towards that leafy reprieve. It didn't matter where his target was, as long as he could find that mark in the next second--
  163.
  164. SLAM!
  165.
  166. His strike is caught by Revan's forearm and soon enough there's a blow to his gut. With the wind knocked out of him he found himself skidding away against the stone tiles! A brief once-over is done to assess the damage to his Nyeshk armor - Note was taken of the dent just upon his stomach.
  167.
  168. Good hit...
  169.
  170. Sniffing he'd lower his stance a bit more, narrowing his gaze upon Revan. It was time to kick it up a notch...
  171. (Thalis Avitus)
  172. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  173.
  174. [17:22] Perhaps it was the shift in stance that had thrown Revan off? Whereas he towered over the youth typically he was now roughly just about their head. From trees to blasts of energy he'd focus upon one sole thing.
  175.
  176. Outrunning Revan's senses.
  177.
  178. Whereas he struck the young Task upon their left side gut he'd soon bounce towards their back-- Feinting just to strike upon the right side. It's a dance that soon continued to graze and whittle Revan down to an eventual end.
  179.
  180. As Revan retreated that same crackling blade appears upon the right gauntlet. Sounds like such cued Revan's typical beam of mana, and as if on cue it shot out! Electricity explodes under his left foot to propel him forth-- A spectacle best seen by the watchers as the Ookami graciously skid upon a line of electricity over the beam.
  181.
  182. Delivering that blow towards the top of Revan's head he'd somersault forth, skidding upon the tiles of the arena to an eventualhalt. Huffing and puffing he found himself drawn deeper into the fight - Deeper into that saying Asena had ingrained into her followers.
  183.
  184. Survival of the fittest.
  185.
  186. Revan's given a mere moment to rest before a crack of lightning sparks beside their foot.
  187. (Thalis Avitus)
  188. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  189.
  190. [17:33] Dun would watch would thoughtful concentration as Revan was thrashed back once more across the arena floor, blood undoubtedly spattering forth with dripping sweat as he received a no holds barred beat down blindbolded and befooled in an effort to be brave.
  191.
  192. Truly troublesome.
  193.
  194. "You're still moving like you're trying to see with your eyes Revan. You must use ALL OF YOUR SENSES. That is the flow of life, the interplay of biology and sorcery in the apex and epitome of practice! You must push yourself further than this, or become ash in the wind."
  195.
  196. The old priest would nod firmly. Only by being pushed to his limits would Revan grow. A loss or two with some broken bones or shattered organs mattered little as long as he learned something.
  197.
  198. "You'll never be able to target your opponent's circuitry if you can't even innately feel and sense your own."
  199. (Dun Task)
  200. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  201.
  202. [17:40] The Ookami would hunker closer to the ground, like a beast ready to take it's prey. Revan refused to be anything of the such. Dipping lower himself, it was moreso to ground himself, hold himself steady.
  203.
  204. Finally he was able to get that clear picture of Thalis' body, the electricity that coursed around him. Every punch he wound up, the Task was able to feel coming. However, his mentor certainly kicked it up a notch.
  205.
  206. Implementing feints into his repertoire, how Revan had to adapt to pick which moves he wished to block now. Bruises certainly were welling beneath his own leather armor, coughing up blood as he was stuck in the back.
  207.
  208. The son of Dun task was actually able to get a few strikes of, nothing like the first, but something he could take regardless. Suddenly- there it was, his opening. Condensing his mana between his hands, he would launch it at what he thought was his unsuspecting Tutor-
  209.
  210. CRACK
  211.
  212. Head and feet sent tumbling against the stone as he was sent toppling across the dojo, laying flat against the floor. Was that it? Not according to how his father spoke to him, further encouraging him.
  213.
  214. Laying in a puddle of his own sweat and blood, the bandaged Task would struggle to pick himself up.. You're still moving like you're trying to see with your eyes. The words would repeat themselves in his rattled head.
  215.
  216. His breathing was ragged, pained, but still, he practiced the same techniques he used to calm himself. The azure aura around him swelling just as his lungs would. There is mana all around me. He'd suddenly realize, he had focused so hard on trying to see it he was missing the picture entirely.
  217.
  218. He tried to dictate what he saw, tried to paint his own picture. However, there was so much more to it. There was a push and pull as Thalis and Revan fought throughout the arena. He had to feel his opponents movements, smell the ozone he burned with his lightning, hear his footsteps, and taste his blood. Revan would let go of trying to see what was going on, and he would let the mana around him control his movements, each attack he would make. Now he would be trying to turn the hunt around on his mentor.
  219. (Revan Task)
  220. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  221.
  222. [17:41] {Lost Dangerous RPB against Thalis Avitus}
  223. [17:41] * You have been awarded 1 Roleplay Points! *
  224. [17:51] A wolf was on the hunt, and from it came those untapped Sudburian tactics that he'd long since forgotten. From constant shifts within his frame to land odd punches to even sudden leg sweeps - Everything was game. It wasn't just a training session anymore, no, the young Task had to learn what it was to be pressed to a wall and truly in danger.
  225.
  226. Otherwise they just might fall like the rest of them - Faira, Dorothea, Thadria, Lloyd.
  227.
  228. Sweat began to collect on his frame as he expunged as much mana as he could to fuel that rushing storm. Whereas it used to be just one blow to gut it soon felt like countless-- The pins of electricity coursing through the breaking bandages digging into Revan's skin. Were it not for the bruises he may very well be losing feeling throughout his body.
  229.
  230. Viciousness was barely a step away as Revan began to adapt to his routine. Dart in, land blows, dance upon his target to force them to the ground... Soon he felt blows landing right back at him. Despite the blindfold they were beginning to learn where he was through the mana he used.
  231.
  232. That would have to be seen another day, though.
  233.
  234. Asena's breeze graces his frame once more as the collective sparks radiate from his circuitry. That buzzing, warm wind guided him upon a path as he appeared behind Revan with a sudden ZAP! of lightning. One Arcanium-toed boot is lifted up before being slammed into the ground, sparks flourishing from the contact as the Task is sent to the ground.
  235.
  236. Bruised, bloodied, numb, haggard in all sense of the word. Thalis stood victorious with those after-battle huffs and puffs, those wide eyes darting towards Dun for but a moment. Revan had lost, but they'd managed to take a round in turn.
  237.
  238. "Think 'e did... A'ight." Thalis spat blood towards the bricks nearby. "Not perfect, but a'ight."
  239. (Thalis Avitus)
  240. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  241.
  242. [18:01] Dun would nod firmly in approval as he watched the glorious conclusion of the bout, predicted as it was in the end by the timeless jester. Thalis was strong, and Revan was still young and unfounded in his pugilism. But the best way to sharpen ones own instincts hand to hand was against a superior opponent.
  243.
  244. This was the way of Theria. Progress from pain.
  245.
  246. "Excellent my boy, you did wonderfully. Your spirit was in motion in the end, all had aligned, that is the first and greatest step to mastering energy magic! Once you are intune with the flow of the world, it becomes yours to manipulate son."
  247.
  248. The elder of the Fireblooded would nod firmly, opening and closing his gauntlet laden palm with a thoughtful chuckle.
  249.
  250. "From your wounds, learn. From this experience, stretch your senses further in battle. When you have sharpened them enough that you can see the flow of mana with your eyes closed, you will return to me for the final lesson on the gentle, killing fist of Id."
  251.
  252. Dun would bow ceremonially.
  253. (Dun Task)
  254. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  255.
  256. [18:09] Revan was quickly adapting as the intensity continued to ramp up. Letting himself succumb to the tugs and pulls of mana around him, he found find himself able to maneuver around his mentor as he darted around him.
  257.
  258. Uncountable punches charged with electricity would be met with just a single knee or elbow from Revan, to those witnessing it almost looked like Revan was putting up a decent show against the more experienced brawler.
  259.
  260. The sweep of a leg would only be felt once before the trick ceased to work- though Revan was adapting, he had done so all to late. His injuries accumulating at a rapid pace as bruises on bruises would form under him, static burns stretching across his skin as he wouldn't soon recover from this bout.
  261.
  262. He would sense as the arcanium boot was raise above his head, though it struck down like a bolt, lightning exploding out from it as it would send him into the ground, his muscles spasming from the left over electricity.
  263.
  264. He couldn't cough, he couldn't wheeze, he simply laid there in defeat as he listened to his father. More to study on his own, more to accomplish before he could progress. Remaining on the ground, he would simply absorb the moment, feeling the mana of all of those around him.
  265.
  266. He could hear it in his father's chuckle, feel the smile of approval that hid beneath the mask, taste the lesson he had learned from the blood in his mouth. There was still much he had to learn, plenty left to grow. He was far from the fittest, though he would still survive this day, to continue honing his body, mind, and spirit.
  267.
  268. "I.. Will.. Father.." He'd eventually hack up. "I.. Will never.. Give up.. Not as long.. As I have.. That fire... That desire.. That burns within.." It was a pain to speak, but it was more important to him that his Father, his Mentor knew, he would only continue to rise up.
  269. (Revan Task)
  270. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  271.
  272. [18:15] Rolling his hands he'd go about checking himself over for wounds. Bruises? Absolutely. Dents in his armor? Yep. He'd be spending time catering to the blows of battle in the hours to come, but...
  273.
  274. Ultimately? He was happy with Revan's progress himself.
  275.
  276. "Y'll get there e'entually kid, jus' keep pressin' yerself. If y' keep goin' like tha' y'll catch up in no fuckin' time. Shit, y' might e'en catch up t' m'...- Well, prolly not."
  277.
  278. Thalis snickered under his breath. He couldn't help but be cocky at times - Why not? That Sudburian pride had been hidden beneath layers of selflessness which, over the years, had begun to melt away. Why would he work without coin these days?..
  279.
  280. Regardless he'd bow his head towards the young Task.
  281.
  282. "Look forward t' wha' y' can do next."
  283. (Thalis Avitus)
