- Taking place 70 years after the events of "Avatar: The Last Airbender," this story follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang - a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenage girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra. With three of the four elements under her belt (Earth, Water, and Fire), Korra seeks to master the final element, Air. Her quest leads her to the epicenter of the modern "Avatar" world, Republic City - a metropolis that is fueled by steampunk technology. It is a virtual melting pot where benders and non-benders from all nations live and thrive. However, Korra discovers that Republic City is plagued by crime as well as a growing anti-bending revolution that threatens to rip it apart. Under the tutelage of Aang's son, Tenzin, Korra begins her airbending training while dealing with the dangers at large.
- Set 70 years after the events of "Airbender", Korra moves to Republic City to master her final element - air. With the guidance of the previous avatar Aang's son Tenzin, she has to fight crime and face a growing anti-bending movement that threatens to rip the metropolis apart.
- Without going at lengths through the accomplishments of the spiritual forefather of this series, let it be noted that A:TLA revolutionized the animated series scene when it came out, a testament to the power of higher-quality animation and good writing. With that in mind, a sequel, with the same people at helm, was a thrilling prospect.

Up until coming face to face with the creation, that is. LoK borrows many elements from A:TLA, and could have conceivably done a fairly good job of preserving the central aspects of the A:TLA universe while tweaking it for a new audience. Instead, the fans of the original were pelted with, metaphorical, dung pies all the way from the title character mastering three of the four elements by age four to the awful, contrived ending where the casual viewer was berated for wearing hetero lenses when the romance took an unexpected turn.

The show as a whole undermines the notion of an Avatar, reduces what have been beloved characters to mere jokes and has the audacity to pat itself on the back for destroying the legacy left behind by Aang and co. What is the point of the Avatar training and going around the world when Korra Sue can bend three elements by age four? What is so great about Iroh entering the spirit world when there is an accessible portal through which most anyone can pass? Why is the Avatar in any way special when the Turtles might have bestowed their powers upon any other mortal who would then go on to fuse with Raava? The answers can only be the following: none, nothing and he/she isn't.

I suppose they tried re-framing the origins and demystifying the concept of Avatar, but Bryke seem to have overlooked that half the fun is in the mystery.

From a technical standpoint, the animation is of good quality and the music likewise contributes to the atmosphere. But these factors can only do so much. One needs a good story to work with. Which story is not to be found here.

If one watches the series without a single iota of an expectation, then it will surely please. For those of us expecting more than a pretty picture , however, it will likely leave a sour aftertaste, be advised when choosing to watch this.

3/10 is the score I give it, and those three points go to animation and music, and nothing else besides.
- The story of Avatar Korra gave an interesting turn on the prequel "Avatar: The Last Airbender". The new time, places and technical changes give this series an extra touch.

Season 1 has an great concept with the non-bending movement with Amon. Very Original, unexpected, shocking, ... just great. 8,5 / 10

Season 2 was in my eyes the least of the three so far. "Spirits" just couldn't keep me attracted and I kept watching just te be able to follow the rest of the following books. But I have to add that story about avatar Whan shed a new light on the history of the Avatar. Bravo for that. 6/10

Season 3 was to me the best season so far. Most of the characters become really powerful in this point, we meet some very great new characters and is more shocking than ever before. The producers really took it to the edge here, and then there is the awesome finale... 9,3/10
- The main story of The Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after the last episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender, although the prologue in the first episode where Korra is still a child takes place 13 years before that. Yes. An adult Aang appears in a flashback in episode nine, as do an adult Toph and Sokka. Aang's spirit first appears to Korra in the Book 1 finale, appearing the same age as the flashbacks in episode nine. For stories that take place after Avatar: The Last Airbender you can read the graphic novels from Dark Horse Comics. The three volume series called "The Promise" is a story that details how the world took its first steps toward unifying all three Bending Nations into the Republic it has become in Korra's time. A second series called "The Search" is currently in the midst of publication. These stories take place immediately after the last episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender and show the original characters at the same age as they were on television.
