  1. Voodoo—that one word is enough to conjure up exotic, bewitching images: zombies shuffling through a graveyard at night; pins stuck in crudely fashioned dolls as an enemy many miles away experiences agonizing pains; priests cutting the throats of chickens and drinking the blood; assembled worshippers dressed in white dancing around a roaring bonfire. For many of us, our perceptions of Voodoo are shaped by movies we have seen and popular books we have read. But what happens when these perceptions are deemed true? In 1480, a witch by the name of Hadiza Kanumba fled from Africa to escape the slave trade as she refused to be treated as someone’s personal property. She glamoured herself, passing herself off as a woman with fair skin to get to Italy where she knew she’d be protected. While there, she began to work as a maid for the Morosini family. She loved that family with her entire being, even trusting them with her secret, but soon things would take a turn for the worst.

  3. Hadiza met a servant from a rival family that she would fall madly in love with. Because the Morosini family treated her just like family and we’re her friends, she tried to keep it a secret, but once she became pregnant…she could no longer hide it. Once the truth came to light about who the father of the child was, The Morosini’s felt betrayed. Taking things into their own hands, they killed the rival family's servant and dumped the bits and pieces of his body in the Brenta River, and turned their anger towards Hadiza. Gathering members for a witch hunt, they decided to hang her from a Judas tree and burn her alive - but it was going to take more than death to keep her down.

  5. Before Hadiza would take her last breath, she changed a spell that would allow her to possess another body, and this time she swore that she'd get her revenge on this family and make them suffer in the worst ways.

  8. For nearly three centuries Hadiza caused pain to the family sporadically. Whether it was causing miscarriages to the women in the family through generations or just causing macabre deaths to happen through time. It was like a curse and the family eventually began to believe in it, passing down stories of Hadiza's death. Her work would never end, but offering them death for made things feel too easy for her. She wanted them to suffer and never forget.

  11. In 1850, Descendants of the Morosini family had taken over the estate and Hadiza had possessed the body of one of their relatives. She wanted to be close to the family to pull off the plan that she had in store for them. When one of the great great great (x5) grandchildren bore two children, she waited for them to grow of age before she perfected her revenge. Summoning life from the sun and the moon and immortal life from a redwood tree and Satan, Habiza created vampirism. She watched on as the two brothers fell in love and waited for the right moment to strike. She slipped the immortal blood into poisoned drinks and watched them drink, but not before she killed whom they fell in love with in front of them. She promised them that the soul of their lover would return every century to taunt them for what their ancestors had done to her, and each time they would return - the brothers would have to watch as their lover remembered nothing about them. Star-Crossed lovers, some would say...but this curse would continue for as far as they'd allow it.

  19. Born to Monika and Georgi Minkova in Bulgaria (1850). She and her twin sister Angelina are the youngest of five siblings. The Minkova family were a poverty-strickenly that were just trying to make it by on their own. Having so many mouths to feed created a chaotic atmosphere for them and they needed to do whatever they needed to survive, but it wouldn't be an easy task as Bulgaria would soon be at war. Monika was four months pregnant with the twins when the Bulgarian began. At the beginning of 1850, Bulgarian peasants began to plan and prepare for the rebellion, this included Georgi as he was the only adult male in the household. Peasant representatives gathered in the Rakovista monastery and set the date of June 1, 1850, as the first day of fighting. Military leaders were appointed. The program of demands put forth to the Turkish authorities sought consent to the sale of individual villages and abolition of Bulgarian peasants' tributes to the Muslim feudal lords. Georgi had to get his family out of harm's way and therefore turned to a close friend for assistance. Feeling sorrow towards the Minkova situation, Georgi's friend vowed to get his pregnant wife and children out of Bulgaria and somewhere safe. He kept his promise and made sure that none of them were harmed. The initial fights of the Bulgarian uprising took place between May 27 and June 8, 1850. It involved a total of ten thousand Bulgarian peasants, about seven hundred (including Georgi) being killed in combat.

  21. The remaining members of the Minkova family were taken to Italy where they would find shelter with a wealthy seamstress (Angela Gallo) and her family. The woman grew to enjoy Monika's presence and was even there to help her give birth to the twins. She promised them a lifetime of happiness and a home - but under one condition. Monika must marry her son, Vincenzo. Granted she didn't love him as much as she loved Georgi, he treated her well for the first few years of their marriage. After that, the lies and the cheating began. He abused her and damn near sent her to an early grave one night after one of their spats. If it wasn't for his mother stepping in, Monika would have been as good as dead. Deciding to work on their marriage, Monika thought that it was time to open up to her husband. She figured that if she told him the truth about her that everything would be better between them and grant them trust. So...she told them about her witch ancestry. He laughed in her face, calling her crazy before proceeding to beat her once again. He would never be seen married to a crazy person and this was set in stone within his mind. He beat her so harshly that her face was swollen and she fell, hitting her head on the edge of the coffee table. That final blow killed her and her twin daughters witnessed it - but he didn't know.
  22.
  23. Hiding the body, he told his mother and everyone in town that Monika had vanished and left the kids alone. He even went as far as to start a search party for the wife that he had killed. The Minkova children were heartbroken and sent to live with Alexander's mother and father where they were raised dutifully.

  25. Growing up, Anastasia and Angelina were like two peas in a pod. They enjoyed different things in life, but they made sure to do them together regardless. It wasn't until 1869 that the girls met Lorenzo and Dante Morosini. Lorenzo and Dante's parents were close friends with The Gallo's and often paid Angela to create expensive event gowns for their parties. They were one of the best clients from her knowledge. Anastasia and Angelina got along fairly well with the Morosini's sons. Some would say that the boys were infatuated with the twins and they would offer their assistance to help Angela around her home just to be near the girls. Vincenzo caught wind of this and didn't take kindly to them coming on to 'his' children and often threatened the boys to stay away. However, this wouldn't stop them from conjuring up ideas to see Anastasia and Angelina again.
  26.
  27. When Vincenzo would leave his mother's place to return home, The Morosini brothers would often sneak out to toss pebbles at the twins' windows to gain their attention and take them out for dates at night. While the boys were too busy falling in love, a witch named Hadiza was out plotting their downfall as well as Anastasia and Angelina's. Hadiza created an immortality serum that would keep the boys alive forever, but not before she forced one brother to rip into Angelina and Anastasia's jugular, killing them, leaving them to live in despair for their entire existence. Not only that, but every century - she'd bring the girls back to taunt them with what their family had taken away from her.

  32. For centuries, the girls have been resurrected with their memory wiped of any recollection of who they were. Dante and Lorenzo stalk the earth in hopes that somehow they can prevent this never-ending cycle from repeating itself. But what happens when someone from the past is resurrected, causing the girls to regain their recollection - unleashing a storm of bad juju that could destroy everything that they once knew?
