1. Featured In: In chronological order: Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance (as of the secret ending)
2.
3. Name: Kairi
4.
5. Age: 16 (as of Dream Drop Distance)
6.
7. Gender: Female
8.
9. Alignment: Good, of course
10.
11. Personality:
12. "This time...I'll fight. You know Sora's completely hopeless without us! C'mon, Riku!"
13.
14. Kairi is caring, kindhearted and not afraid to speak her mind. However, she is courageous and determined when someone she cares about is in danger, often risking her own safety to help that person. She was once slightly withdrawn because of Sora's absence, having obtained wisdom usually beyond someone of her age; upon his return, she's returned to being more open, though not so much about her feelings for him.
15.
16. She's not as brash and bold as she was when she was fourteen, but she's still pretty sociable. The Princess of Heart is very easy going and charismatic, quick to befriend others. She's usually very cheerful and upbeat; though she can be down at certain times, she always looks to the positives in life. Though Kairi can get irritated sometimes, letting it show with her own brand of sarcasm. She is loyal and headstrong, and she can be rather stubborn. Her bond of friendship between Sora and Riku is strong, moreso with Sora due to her feelings for him going beyond friends. Though they have confessed, as mentioned, she's not open about their boyfriend-girlfriend status, thanks to the blackmail picture of the two.
17.
18. Her Nobody, Naminé, was once a stark contrast to her. Naminé was born without memories and without the knowledge that she had emotions, due to the unusual nature of her birth. Because of this, she had no basis of any acting upon her birth. She simply followed the orders of whoever was close to her because it was the only obvious guidance she had, effectively making her very quiet, fragile, peaceful, forgiving and generous in personality. This led to her discovery of her ability to feel, as often times she found that blindly following her captors hurt others, something that made Naminé feel responsible and guilty.
19.
20. As Naminé began to rebel and constantly switch sides, her determination and drive began to grow significantly. Her more driven personality was put to good use, often going about to help the heroes in her own way. Like Roxas, Naminé seems to possess true emotions, being a special and unusual Nobody. While most Nobodies pretend to have emotions by acting on the memories of their past lives in order to react to a specific situation, Roxas and Naminé had no such memories, and thus had no basis for any acting.
21.
22. Over the time traveling with Sora and their off-world friends Gregory and Kynthia, Naminé developed a different side to her personality. Rather than becoming more irritating to her Other, she instead became the more level-headed of the other two sarcastic counterparts, often trying to keep the peace and only dropping a comment on their level of stupidity (in her view).
23.
24. Powers Kairi and Naminé have their own separate ability sets.
25.
26. - Kairi
27.
28. -- Kairi has access to all of the Sleights of the Cards of Oblivion. However, more complex Sleight require more focus. Also, therefore her abilities tend to depend, quite literally, on the luck of the draw, and she has taken to using the ability to use Deck Commands more often after her time in the Sleeping Worlds. The cards were given to her with Naminé's power.
29.
30. -- The Deck Commands are different, relying on charge meters rather than luck, and without the use of any MP meter except to shorten the recharge time. Her set of Battle Commands is as follows.
31.
32. --- Bind: Holds enemies in place, although they may still attack from their position if Kairi is in range.
33.
34. --- Deep Freeze: Freezes surrounding enemies in a block of ice. Extra damage is dealt when she strikes
35.
36. --- Faith: Kairi summons a pillar of light bursting from the ground, causing damage to any enemies in range.
37.
38. --- Sleep: Just as it says, this puts surrounding enemies to sleep.
39.
40. --- Time Bomb: Turns enemies into walking ticking bombs, causing them to self-destruct after five seconds and damaging other enemies nearby.
41.
42. --- Circle Raid: Kairi throws her Keyblade so that it flies in a circle around her, hitting many targets on the way and causing a Bind effect.
43.
44. --- Circle Spark Raid: A combination of Circle Raid and Spark Raid, this works as Kairi throwing her Keyblade so that it flies in a circle around her, hitting many targets before coming back to her. For any it hits, rays of light will fly out from the point of contact to hit others. This is only performable in Purity Form.
45.
46. --- Vanish: Becomes invisible for a short period of time.
47.
48. --- Fire Windmill: Kairi spins her Keyblade like a windmill, rushing the enemy and potentially igniting them.
49.
50. --- Pearl: A customized Command, this is borrowed from King Mickey's set, and acts akin to a light-based version of Riku's Dark Aura, firing up to three blasts of light from her hand.
51.
52. -- For Movement and Defense Commands, she has the following, in a specialized set.
53.
54. --- Teleport: An enhanced jump, this allows her to teleport to an area either above or horizontal to her while in mid-air, much like Sora's Glide or Riku's Doubleflight.
55.
56. --- Bright Haze: Using platforms of light on her sides and above or below her, Kairi jumps around an attack, acting as a dodge with minor gravity manipulation.
57.
58. --- Light Roll: An upgraded form of White Haze, this allows her to meld her body into the fragment of Kingdom Hearts' light within her, turning into an amorphous form of pure light in a dash forward before re-forming into a full body.
59.
60. --- Light Shield/Light Barrier: A barrier of pure light that either surrounds her completely if she can get enough focus (Barrier) or only works directly where she is focusing, if she does not have the time (Shield).
61.
62. --- Counter Pearl: A reactive counter if a hit knocks her back, this allows her to launch a "Pearl" to all nearby enemies if she can grab at the instinct, if only to give her enough time to land on her feet.
63.
64. -- Due to wielding a Keyblade for an extended period of time, Kairi has some experience with Reaction Command level reflexes.
65.
66. -- When her health is dangerously low, Kairi can call upon the power of one of two Limit Breaks. Either the King's "Holy" or Roxas' "Event Horizon." In her Purity Form, this changes to dual-wielding Roxas' "Magic Hour."
67.
68. -- As a Princess of Heart, Kairi has some ability in holding back the forces of darkness through latent magical ability alone, but this ability is not very strong, and is only truly effective when used in tandem with other Princesses. Also due to her status as a Princess of Heart, she has the ability to sense darkness, and sometimes looks sick when in the presence of a large enough amount of said darkness. She could also travel through Dark Corridors without any negative effects because of this.
69.
70. -- Purity Form: In this form, Kairi can use both her original Destiny's Embrace and Naminé's Memorial. This form will break out only in a great deal of anger, or if her will is temporarily broken. It is a last resort, should any of the two ever happen.
71.
72. - Naminé
73.
74. -- Naminé has the born ability to control and manipulate memories. This power comes from the fact that she is formed from Sora's soul and body, rather than Kairi's. Because of this connection, Naminé can move around the "links" of his memories that are located within his heart to her liking, as well as the ones of those who are connected to Sora. She can even sever them completely, turning the victim into little more than an empty shell.
75.
76. -- Memory Magic: Her own magic set, this has been with her since her creation, but has only truly formed into a set such as this since training herself alongside Roxas in combat. Aside from normal spells, she can enhance her speed by making people forget where she was for a moment, allowing her to dodge in that way. It's appearance is that of a white mist around her hands or Keyblade.
77.
78. --- Blank: A low level spell that affect a single opponent, making them forget one of their abilities at random.
79.
80. --- Muscle Memory: A buff spell that can affect allies or herself, making their attacks more automatic and, therefore, faster.
81.
82. --- Willpower: Something of a healing spell; this causes a target to forget any fatigue or minor injuries they have, letting them fight longer. This can be dangerous if over-used, as all the fatigue and pain snaps back to the target when the spell fades.
83.
84. --- Forget Me Not: A spell that takes memories from one target and puts them into another, temporarily granting them skills from the other.
85.
86. --- Brain Freeze: A leveled up version of Blank; this spell wipes clean about half of the target’s skills for a short time.
87.
88. --- Synthetic Mastery: A leveled up version of Muscle Memory; this creates memories of mastering a weapon and turns the target into a proficient expert for a short time.
89.
90. --- False Memories: This spell implants fabricated memories into a target; this causes them to be confused and, in in the case of some lower leveled enemies, even switch sides.
91.
92. -- Memorial Forms: Aside from her Memory Magic, Memorial operates on a wheel of active spells, with only one usable at a time. Below are the forms that this takes, taking from her closest friends or those closest to her in terms of basic existence. These are listed in terms of element and color of the marking on her Keyblade's handle.
93.
94. --- Earth (Brown; Terra): High power, localized impact. Includes explosions of earth from beneath the victim, earthquake faults, and thrown boulders. Increases attack power at decreased speed.
95.
96. --- Air (Green; Ventus): Based primarily around speed, area of effect, stunning, and knockback damage. Includes wind-based dash attack, increased agility, and localized tornados. Increases movement speed at decreased attack power.
97.
98. --- Water (Blue; Aqua): Globs of water and bubbles blasted from the Keyblade, causing water damage, along with hard rain. Can also spray melted ice at the victim for ice damage, akin to Aqua Splash.
99.
100. --- Light (White; Sora/Roxas): Ragnarok beams and similar pillars and beams of light. Only offensively based uses of light.
101.
102. --- Darkness (Black; herself): Weaponized Corridors of Darkness by cutting things apart with them opening or forcing dangerous things through them, or for attack redirection. Also able to use Dark Shield (the early version of Riku's new Dark Barrier) to protect from close range attacks. Overall, a mostly defensive use of Darkness, or rather offensive through the use of defense.
103.
104. -- Keeper Form: Naminé splits her Keyblade into five separate ones, one for each of her elements on it (colored completely in the color of the spell each), fanning to a kind a halo behind her body. In this form, her sandals become white boots reaching to her knees, she forms white gloves on her arms that go up to her elbows, and a belt with a Nobody symbol as a buckle appears on her waist. In this form, she can use all of her spells, sometimes even simultaneously, and utilizes her Keyblades through telekinesis akin to Final Form without the floating except as a Glide, and can send them out for long attacks such as repeated stabs to force someone down, blocking multiple attacks, or through portals at multiple angles to attack from multiple sides at once.
105.
106. Abilities:
107.
108. Even without the use of her Keyblade, Kairi has a great degree of athleticism, showcased by how she was able to jump from a high balcony without the need of magic garments. This is due to her physical activities at the gym of her school, heightened further in her now long-term use with her Keyblade.
109.
110. Flowmotion: Originally from the Realm of Sleep, Flowmotion is a set of parkour skills that Kairi relearned outside of the dream realm. Though not as advanced as in the Realm of Sleep, Flowmotion gives her the ability to preform feats of extreme agility, such as limited wall kicks through alleys or up walls, grinding rails, swinging on poles, and other similar skills. Unlike in the Realm of Sleep, she does not glow when using these skills.
111.
112. As for Naminé, as per her powers, she has an excellent memory beyond most people. She's also a great artist; though not so much with people, she can replicate backgrounds of worlds perfectly. It could be assumed that her artistic talent is tied in to her ability to manipulate memories, as they seem to mostly be of events that have happened with Sora and anyone else close to him
113.
114. Appearance: Kairi and Naminé
115.
116. As of the events of Dream Drop Distance, when traveling in the Realm of Sleep, Kairi appears as she did when she was fourteen, hair shorter and a daintier build. Though retaining her black choker, her outfit is much different, resembling Aqua's appearance: a white halter top with a pink Dream Eater symbol on the chest, white and pink-lined detached sleeves, white fingerless gloves, pink shorts with white linings, pink ribbons around her waist, thigh-high white stockings, and knee-high mid-heel white boots tied with pink strings. (see here (credit goes to Doc for the drawing))
117.
118. Weapons: Destiny's Embrace, which she inherited from Aqua unintentionally, and Memorial, as a facet of wielding Oathkeeper for a bit. Though she has received other Keychains for her Keyblade, she uses one of either the two more often.
119.
120. Equipment:
121.
122. Keychains: Aside from Desiny's Embrace and Memorial, Kairi has other sets of Keychains such as the one for Oathkeeper, and has received a few more from the Realm of Sleep:
123.
124. - Guardian Bell: A Keyblade Kairi gained from the world of La Cité des Cloches that specializes in magic strength, as well as making up for a lack of physical strength with longer reach. The guard is made up of two gargoyles facing outwards, with a golden handle. The hilt connects to an ornament design, appearing like a stained-glass window with a cross shape in the center. From this, three thing pillars make up the blade, topped by a golden circular decoration, atop of which perches another gargoyle, hanging the bell that makes up the teeth of Keyblade from its mouth. The keychain takes the shape of a bell.
125. - Knockout Punch: A Keyblade that, though decreasing the rate of critical hits, compensates with a boost to physical attacks and increases the number of Limit Breaks that can be used at a time by one. The Knockout Punch's appearance is based primarily on the Hockomonkey Dream Eater. Its hilt is made up of the Dream Eater's arms, colored black and turquoise, with the base made of its neon green fists. Hockomonkey's head connects the hilt, blade, and handle. The blade is the Dream Eater's arm, which curves several times before ending on its boxer-gloved fist, the teeth made of a comical 'impact' effect with blue and yellow colors. They keychain token is the Nightmare Dream Eater emblem.
126. - Counterpoint: A magical counterpart to Knockout Punch, Counterpoint that has a lower strength, but which compensates with a longer reach, higher magical power, and the increase of available Limit Breaks by one. The guard takes on the appearance of a violin, with the blade being stylized, sparkling sheet music, colored in shades of blue with golden notes. The blade is topped with a large red treble clef, with a spiral design in the center. The teeth are shaped like Yen Sid's pointy wizard hat.
127.
128. Naminé has her own set of Keychains. Though hers are those obtained in Chain of Memories, she also has the Starlight, a very old Keyblade that had been used in the time of the Keyblade War, as an offshoot of her time in the Vanitas Remnant's body.
129.
130. Wayfinder: Kairi's good luck charm. Though used as a keychain for Oathkeeper, she only uses it when she really needs to, holding onto it for luck as intended. Hers is made with thalassa shells and it represents the powerful bond she has with Sora, shown by his face drawn on one of the shells (not that she'll let anyone know this). After the events of Dream Drop Distance, Mickey has infused some magic into her Wayfinder to allow it to sense out Sora and Riku, working similarly to the Wayfinders that Ventus, Terra, and Aqua used for their Dimension Links.
131.
132. Blood Dragon Armor: A space suit taking the image of a medieval set of armor, the Blood Dragon Armor grants bonuses to power damage and shield strength, as well as being vacuum sealed and having magnetic boots for walking on walls in space. The armor is silver with the image of a red dragon printed over the left shoulder, slightly form-fitted with the high part of the chestplate pushed out a bit. This was obtained on the Normandy SR-2.
133.
134. Awareness: Yes, thanks to Alexander Karsath's first Interference.
135.
136. History:
137.
138. Kairi, the Princess of Heart of Radiant Garden, was born in said world, and had a close relationship with her grandmother at the age of four, who told her a story of the creation of all of the many worlds from a single one, and darkness from the greed and selfishness of those with light. In an attack by strange dark creatures while she had been picking flowers, a young woman with short, blue hair and a shorter, black-furred, large-eared mouse protected her, Kairi touching the former's strange, key-like weapon instinctively at the beginning of the battle for protection. After those creatures had been destroyed, the mouse disappeared, and Kairi gave her flowers to the woman, who named herself as "Aqua," in thanks for saving her. This "Aqua" cast a spell on young Kairi's necklace on seeing her heart, full of light, saying that her light would be led to the light of another who can keep her safe when she is in trouble, a spell that manifests itself in the form of a dim glow on the necklace. This brief event would effect her for the rest of her life, though she continued to live with her grandmother for another year.
139.
140. When she was five years old, Radiant Garden was destroyed by the Heartless. Due to the woman's spell one year prior, she was magically whisked away to the world of Destiny Islands, where she was adopted by the mayor of the town on the mainland of the world, and became great friends with the inhabitants, Selphie Tilmitt, Wakka, Tidus, Sora, and Riku, the last two foremost amongst them. Over the years, she supported competitions between Sora and Riku on such things as stick combat and races, not knowing, as they themselves may not have, that they were truly contests for her affection rather than just simple playful rivalry. By the age of fourteen, she had lost all memory of her fateful encounter a decade prior, and had no memory of her past before the island at all, sparking the trio to try to leave the world to see what others were like for themselves. Trying to leave using a simple raft, they had no idea what was truly in store for them all.
141.
142. One day in the trio's Secret Place, during the period of the raft's construction, Kairi's heart entered Sora's body as her own comatose body was whisked away to another world. Unknown to all of them, this was again due to the spell placed upon her by Aqua, just before the Heartless invasion of Destiny Islands destroyed the world and forced the remaining duo of the three friends away from it. During this time in his heart, her memories partially seeped into his, including one of one of the times her grandmother told the story of the advent of multiple worlds from one. Throughout the adventure, her heart was experiencing his travels and friendships, albeit in a dormant, silent state for the most part. Through Riku's separate travels, he found her comatose body, bringing her to Neverland and Monstro to keep her from Sora. Eventually, the two boys' travels led them with Kairi to the world of Hollow Bastion, what had become of Radiant Garden after its destruction by the Heartless. At the Final Keyhole with the six other Princesses, Riku, possessed by the Heartless known as "Ansem, Seeker of Darkness," dueled with Sora using a Keyblade formed of the hearts of the other six Princesses. Though Sora won, he realized that Kairi's heart rested within him, the reason for his visions of her throughout his journey. Using Riku-Ansem's discarded Keyblade of People's Hearts, he impaled himself, releasing eight hearts at once and inadvertently creating his own Nobody, Roxas, and hers, Naminé. The six in the Keyblade went to their owners, while Kairi's went back to her own form, enough to open the Final Keyhole at last to the Heartless. As Kairi awakened, she was distraught to see her first sight be the death of Sora in a sense, his turn to a Heartless due to the removal of his impure heart. Ordered to leave with Sora's friends Donald and Goofy by a temporarily-in-control Riku, she complied, the awakened Princesses Aurora, Belle, Jasmine, Cinderella, Snow White, and Alice keeping the darkness of the Keyhole at bay with their latent abilities.
143.
144. On the way out, she saw a lone Shadow Heartless, recognizing it by its more humanoid behavior as that of Sora. Through some unknown mechanism involving her belief in him and physical contact, she restored him to a human form (albeit still technically a Heartless), and left the world that she had realized was her own. Taking refuge in Traverse Town with Squall "Leon" Leonheart and the rest of the group later known as the Hollow Bastion/Radiant Garden Restoration Committee. Though reluctantly remaining on the world rather than help to save Riku, Kairi gave Sora her Wayfinder lucky charm, which doubles as the Oathkeeper Keychain, obligating that he give it back to her when they met again in person after the restoration of Destiny Islands. After the destruction of Ansem, Seeker of Darkness to the light of Kingdom Hearts, she returned to Destiny Islands, one of the many worlds to be restored with the routing, though not destruction, of the Heartless as a whole, Riku saved and Sora, going to help return him home, promising to come back to her. Though upset that both of the boys were gone, she waited in Destiny Islands, waiting for the day that she could share a Paopu fruit with Sora and the three of them could be together again.
145.
146. ...Or she would have, if not for events that took place in Castle Oblivion over the course of approximately a month. Due to those events involving her Nobody and Sora, among several members of the enigmatic Organization XIII, she completely forgot Sora but for a vague sense that some "other boy" aside from Riku used to play with them, though she knew why Riku himself was gone. For a year she went on with her life as if she had not left at all, albeit more mature, studious, and withdrawn and less brash than previously, going to school with Selphie and sometimes playing on the Island, gradually regaining memories of her lost friend and occasionally wondering if she should go after the two of them on her own somehow. Eventually, she sent a letter in a bottle to him. She eventually heard the voice of a mysterious boy within her mind, not knowing it was Roxas trying to contact Naminé. He said he recognized her from Sora's memories, but only teased her about the name itself, leaving her to figure it out on her own almost directly after.
147.
148. Not long after, the Nobody known as Axel came to the Island from a Corridor of Darkness when she was visiting, offering to take her to Sora, albeit threatening to use force through the use of lesser Nobodies when she refused to go with him. Just in time, Pluto, the dog of King Mickey Mouse, the mouse who had helped to save her life eleven years prior, arrived from another Corridor formed by Riku in the form of Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, one that led her to Twilight Town. There, she met with some of the residents, Hayner, Pence, and Olette, and told them about her, her world-hopping adventures and all. At the conclusion of her tale, Axel arrived in the Usual Spot where she had taken refuge to take her away, and would have done so, if not for the intervention of another, Alexander Karsath, the Original Interference and Lockshield Master. As he fended off the Flurry of the Dancing Flames, Hayner's gang ran to Station Plaza, where she finally met Sora once more. After a joyful, heartfelt reunion (or, as Alex would have called it at the time, the "mushy stuff"), Roxas, residing within Sora's mind after a two-versus-two counterpart battle, gave his Oathkeeper to Alex for Kairi to use in combat to come, albeit without any experience or abilities she could control to use in said battles. Though not originally intended, this event would too come to be important later in her life.
149.
150. Together, the quintet of Kairi, Alex, Sora, Donald, and Goofy took part in the first visit to Space Paranoids and the defense of Radiant Garden, but she was kidnapped by the Organization by the time Alex and Sora had finished the battle against one thousand Armored Knights and Surveillance Robots, and brought to the Soundless Prison within the Castle That Never Was. There she remained until she was freed by Naminé, an event that took place concurrently with the time Alex and co. had reached the Brink of Despair near the edge of the castle, and helped them to then enter it. While trying to escape the castle together, the two girls were confronted with many Nobodies. Thankfully, Riku arrived to save them, giving Kairi a Keyblade, her own Destiny's Embrace that she had inherited from Aqua so many years before. Saving Sora from an onslaught of Shadow Heartless called upon by Saïx, Kairi reunites the Keyblader with Riku, leaving both overjoyed. Together, the group continues onward and upward, along with Axel, who had survived his would-be death due to the Interference, defeating Luxord, the Gambler of Fate, along the way. They came to Alex, who had left to follow the King to Ansem the Wise, and witnessed the scientist's sacrifice, which returned Riku to normal from his "Ansem" form and gave Axel his heart back, turning him back to Lea, though he kept his Nobody name for the time being.
151.
152. Kairi did not take part in the final battle against Xemnas due to building-crash related incidents. However, after Sora, Alex, and Riku defeat Xemnas in the first stage of his fight, a spectral form of Naminé appeared and created a portal, where Donald, Goofy and Mickey went through, leaving the others behind. Kairi walked towards her, Alex and Sora following her, and thanked her as Naminé tries to make Sora or even Roxas remember her. After a physical reunion amongst spectral counterparts (excluding Ansem, Seeker of Darkness for reasons of consciousness as much as safety), Joumae, Roxas, and Naminé returned physically to the bodies of their others once more. Kairi entered the portal, but it began to close as she did, leaving her separate from the boys. She had returned to Destiny Islands with her friends, and saw the three heroes when they returned after the defeat of Xemnas, the Superior of the In-Between. Sora returned her Wayfinder after she welcomed them back home, and Alex sealed the last Corridor of Darkness in that universe for a time.
153.
154. Three days later, after his return home, Alex returned on his birthday. He asked for Kairi and the other two Keybladers to help him to find and protect his sister Erica in Amestris, the world of Fullmetal Alchemist. Though they did help, the events of that journey are best left undiscussed, and have remained as such by the Kingdom Hearts natives for the most part. Due to the trauma, Alex immediately left for his next journey in the world of Chrono Trigger with the Elric brothers, returning (to Amestris' clocks) seconds later. He returned them to Destiny Islands, telling his tale before going home to finally celebrate his birthday with his family.
155.
156. Time passed, and she noticed that both Sora and Riku had left the world once more on their own. One day, a man came, an Interference named Ronald Rivers, and attempted to kidnap her. With Naminé's help, Kairi escaped, whisked away to Radiant Garden and receiving a new keychain, the Memorial, which gradually became more based around Naminé with continued usage. As well, with her Nobody's power, she was granted the Cards of Oblivion, a deck of Castle Oblivion to give her skills, and she trained herself with them in the Olympus Coliseum before she went off in search of her friends. On the way, she met with Alex once again and saw others. Eventually, her travels led her to Port Royal. There, she met with Louis Delgado, but also saw Sora and Riku, as well as the Aselian Cruxis angel Gregory Zivaku and Nippon demigoddess of the moon Kynthia Usagi, Sora's traveling companions. After shouting at them quite a bit for leaving her behind, she went through the world with them as she usually would, and decided to travel with Sora and his new friends.
157.
158. Bringing a reluctant Kyn aboard her ship, the Destiny, she went with Greg and Sora's Redemption for a very long time. Over time, the quartet became very close, with Kairi considering Kyn an extremely close friend, Sora and Greg being the same (though not to the extent of Sora and Riku), and, in time, Greg and Kyn becoming romantically involved, occasionally being so very publicly, ignoring the unstated "get a room" rule that the other two wished they would follow. With Greg obtaining a counterpart named Lukgar Revak, Roxas became progressively more sarcastic and annoying to his Somebody, while Naminé became the more level-headed one, though they still gave good advice where needed, and knew that some serious topics were not to be ridiculed as the newcomer did (i.e., murder and death). Also in the same world as Revak was created, Kairi met the fairy Watapon she called Wata, who came to like her very much and be treated as something of a pet.
159.
160. Also over time, Kairi and Sora's feelings for each other grew. Though Riku, Greg, and Kyn did call them out as "sweethearts" often enough, to their embarrassment, before, Kairi at one point finally took the protagonist aside while the other couple were together and confessed her feelings by kissing him. Though he reciprocated, Greg and Kyn took a picture of the action. As a result of the blackmail, the two, though knowing how they feel, only held hands from then on, and even then making sure that it was not in public.
161.
162. During all of this, time travel came into the mix. Due to various events including a split of the party by the scheming of Greg's then-evil brother Isaac, the future selves of Greg and Kyn joined, the latter beating the former to a pulp for leaving her for five years. In short, many future selves came into the picture, and took sides in many cases. This eventually led to a war that they called the War of Heaven and Hell, named for the presumed leaders of both sides; the angelic (in nature only, not personality) Captain Greg "Kaith" and the demonic Isaac Koniro "Reaper". In the start of the war, after Radiant Garden fell yet again to an overwhelming force, Kairi and Sora went off to defend Destiny Islands, her last remaining home, saving the lives of Tidus, Selphie, and Wakka and forcing Reaper off of the world through the use of his weakness to light magic. She opted to stay on the world for the next six weeks, explaining her use of a Keyblade and what she had to to her native friends while Sora went off to help the others.
163.
164. At the end of said six weeks, the women of the good side, the two Kynthias, Audrey Joneses, and Olette, came with terrible news. Sora had been brutally murdered by Reaper, and she was asked to come say her respects. Though hysterical for hours despite the efforts of said women to console her, and unable to bring together the courage to say anything at the hero's casket, she agreed to finish their fights once and for all against these evil futures in the "Omega" army. In the end, she played a pivotal role in one part of the fighting after all. Through the efforts of herself and Riku, she managed to defeat the Templars in the army, led by the polite Seneschal Richard Brier, who had augmented himself with many BioShock Plasmids to the point of addiction. In this battle, her reception of Oathkeeper from Roxas via Alex came into play. Due to undergoing the Keyblade Inheritance Ceremony two times in her life, Kairi was capable of using the same Synch Blade dual-wielding technique as Sora and Roxas could, the former only in Drive forms. Her anger with Brier, who felt that Sora was a martyr for the Omega cause, an unfortunately necessary death, allowed for this technique to unlock, her new form allowing for the simultaneous wielding of Memorial and Destiny's Embrace. She also found herself capable of using Limit Breaks and Final Limits, as well as, with Naminé's help, the more advanced sleights of the Cards of Oblivion. Though she could not bring herself to actually kill Brier in cold blood after rendering him defenseless, Riku was able to do the deed. She lived to the end of the battle, praying to aid the Kynthias in their own fights. After Reaper's demise, the events of the war ceased to have existed. Sora and several more who died in the final battles, among them Greg, were revived by the unmaking of the war, and she very nearly kissed him once more in her joy to see him again, but, due to the distraction of others, they were stopped. Though their feelings are now more well-known, they do not admit openly to anything, and always still try to make excuses or change the subject as soon as possible.
165.
166. When Greg and Kyn, overwhelmingly elated to be together again, decided to leave Sora and Kairi to go on a date together alone, she told Sora something she had been thinking of. She did not think she could Interfere any longer, his temporary demise leaving her too grief-stricken to even think of it happening again, let alone fight any longer. Sora, though upset to see her go, agreed to bring her home again to Destiny Islands, where she brought the Destiny, Wata, and her equipment, as well as a copy of a picture of her two closest off-world friends.
167.
168. After some time, Sora returned, alone. He said that something had come between Kyn and Greg, and they were no longer together. Not asking further (though understandably upset), she accepted Sora back home, since Greg had brought him back to avoid any unnecessary association with whatever it was he did.
169.
170. A long while after opting out, Kairi had managed to gather back the courage to face the worlds once more, with the support of Wata and Sora. They needed a fighting Princess of Heart, and she was the only one that she knew of.
171.
172. There was just one problem: Sora had left without telling her. Again.
173.
174. With that, Kairi prepared to set off once more, not just to start Interfering once again, but to once again search for the Keyblader. Before she left, she'd run into an Interference named Damien Reid. Though initially finding him odd, she'd found that he had many notes on the Kingdom Hearts universe that he had lost. Although the Princess of Heart offered to help, she accepted when he denied, only promising to send any notes his way if she found any. And with that, she had set back out in the worlds, though had left just before Damien could share some important information regarding her.
175.
176. She arrived in Radiant Garden at the start of her search, gathering supplies and hopefully receiving some information from the RGRC regarding Sora. Upon arriving, however, she'd found that the Hollow Bastion castle was infested with Heartless, most of the committee members having not come back for a while. Joined by Aerith, she'd went to clear the castle of the infestation, meeting up with Leon along the way, and Yuffie later. In the end, they found Merlin trapped by a Darkside, which seemed to be the source of the infestation. With their combined efforts, including the wizard once he freed himself, they were able to defeat it, clearing the Heartless from the castle. As they returned to the house after that side trip, she found that the RGRC had no idea that Sora had left again. Receiving a few upgrades to the Destiny by Cid and thanks by the committee for her help, Kairi moved on in her continuing search.
177.
178. The Princess of Heart would then find herself on Nippon, thinking back on her memories of her time with Sora, Greg, and Kyn. To her surprise, she had reunited with the demigoddess not long after her arrival, also meeting with a revived Isaac Zivaku, the Baten Kaitos hero Kalas, the Solar Samurai Sorin Mireu, and a Corporal Azumi Ian who seemed to have known Greg and Kyn. However, though she had a tearful reunion with Kynthia, her once best friend's attitude towards everyone else had the Princess beginning to lose respect for her. This was enforced when, after offering to have her travel with her like the old times, she had completely bypassed her in favor of going with Isaac instead (an act that even the demon detested). Though saddened by this, to her surprise, she had received reassurance from Kalas, the one-winged boy having clearly changed from the rude hero she and her friends met before. Furthermore, upon mentioning her search for Sora, Kalas explained that he had encountered the Keyblader not too long ago, though didn't know where he was now. Thanking him for the help and saying goodbye to the others, Kairi left the world and continued her search, her sadness in her friend's up and leaving forgotten for now.
179.
180. While bypassing the time in present day Guardia, Kairi had finally found the Keyblader she had been searching for. She caught up to him before he had a chance to run, letting him know how she felt about him running by beating him up with her Keyblade. However, she was stopped when Sora and Roxas mentioned a Xion, which had shocked Naminé. Although she explained a little to who she was and what was done to her, clearly feeling guilty about it all, the subject matter of Sora's disappearance was still at hand. To both the Princess' and the Nobody's shock, Sora explained that Greg was dead, several more deaths following, and that he couldn't just sit by and allow this to happen. With this information, Kairi was about to forgive him, even give him a comforting hug for the sadness he had displayed. However, after meeting Naito Zivaku, the apparent future son of Greg and Kyn, and the Sneaselmorph Jasmine that Naito liked, their moment was interrupted by a Ghost; a complete Somebody that had been corrupted by darkness following the heart shower of the synthetic Kingdom Hearts; called a "Preta," a corruption of the Dancer Nobody. Though they had fought it off, it was not without trauma, the Preta forcing a kiss on everyone and stealing a piece of each of their soul, and the ensuing fight had brought Sora to change into a corrupt form called Anti Form, killing the Ghost with extreme prejudice and frightening Kairi. In order to try and forget the events, both the encounter and being blown off by Kynthia, the Princess of Heart went on her own once more, developing on her skills whilst trying to clear her mind.
181.
182. Not long after this, Kairi arrived in Traverse Town to continue her training. There, not only did Kairi reunite with Riku and Alexander and meet up with Isaac, but she also saw Greg alive and well, though her happy reunion was instead replaced with distress when she found Sora in a bad state, having been knocked out in a fight against a monochrome boy called the 'Vanitas Remnant.' Thankfully, he was healed, but their reunion was still on hold as they discussed the situation. With Alex's help, as well as a book called "Xehanort's Report" that the Original Interference had given Riku, they found out more about Ventus and Vanitas, why this 'remnant' was seeking him out for revenge. However, their discussion was disrupted as right then, the Vanitas Remnant had struck once more. The group was barely able to hold him off, and in the end, the Remnant escaped, taking Kairi with him for some "leftover work" to do. Though Kairi fought back, she was too late to escape, whisked away along with her captor.
183.
184. She was taken to Radiant Garden, forced to fight the Vanitas Remnant on her own. It was there that she discovered why she was taken: with her pure heart of Light and his of Darkness, he had aimed to remake the X-blade once more with her involuntary help. It was also there that she had discovered his true face, looking like a pale, black-haired and gold-eyed Sora. The realization was truly a shock for the Princess of Heart, and for a moment, she was unable to fight back. The Remnant took the advantage to take her into his being; however, he only managed to assimilate Naminé into his being, the Memory Witch expelling her Somebody before she could be taken. As his form instead took on a distorted version of her own, gaining a proto-X-blade in the process, Sora and the rest of the group had arrived to stop the Remnant, joined by the RGRC as well as Lea, the restored Axel. While they battled, Naminé had her own fight with the Vanitas Remnant from within, battling for control. In the end, the heroes managed to defeat him, Naminé returning to Kairi's mind and the Remnant destroyed. However, they had still heard his last, laughing words before he fell apart the destruction of the X-blade prototype opening the "Cavern of Remembrance" in the side of Hollow Bastion: "It never hurts to have a backup." With this done, Alex returned the Keyblade he had borrowed, the Stormfall, having seemed familiar to the monochrome boy and caused false memories to pop up in his head, Riku had taken the Keychain for the Remnant's Keyblade, the Void Gear, and Naminé receiving her own Keychain for an ancient Keyblade called the Starlight, acting as the opposite of the Remnant's own.
185.
186. Kairi went off on her own once more, trying to forget the events of the Vanitas Remnant and wanting to prove herself that she could handle herself on her own. Her travels took her to the Mass Effect universe, where she had met up with Isaac once more, along with Pyro Mireu and a woman named Cheryl "Heather" Mason, the Princess having met the latter during a visit to the Jade Empire. There, she aided them and the primary protagonists in securing Tali'Zorah's status as a non-exiled quarian and her loyalty at the same time through, after a fight through a large ship, essentially talking down the quarian government into letting go of the charges against her. During her trip, she had obtained a new armor set that she found useful not only for space travel, but also for better protection. When that was done, Kairi said her goodbyes and left, more adventure to be had elsewhere.
187.
188. Soon, Kairi was called by Yen Sid to take the Mark of Mastery exam alongside Sora and Riku, in order for them to become full fledged Keyblade Masters. Joining them along this endeavor was Audrey Jones, a girl that Sora and Kairi met at the end of their venture in the Jade Empire as well as one of those who was involved in the War (not that any of them wanted to think on that), one who wielded Dream-based magic that she aimed to master. They were tasked with entering the Realm of Sleep, and unlocking the seven Sleeping Keyholes to free the never before seen worlds within, and bring them back into the Realm of Light where they belonged. However, they were separated after unlocking Destiny Island's Sleeping Keyhole, Sora with Audrey (who had Dropped directly to Traverse Town, as she was unable to travel back in time with the trio) and Kairi with Riku.
189.
190.
191.
192. Eventually, the endeavors brought them to Drop into The World That Never Was. However, she was separated from Riku, forced to fight her way alone. She encountered the mysterious woman once more, who revealed herself to be Lidia, the "Dark Princess." She revealed that she formed a temporary alliance with the "younger Xehanort," but for her own use instead of for the Organization, targeting Sora and Riku to bring more chaos in the worlds through their hearts, with the bonus of killing Vanitas' killer, or one of them. Angered, Kairi battled her before she could get her way, defeating her in spite of the dark woman using her currently full strength, her fighting style similar to the Vanitas Remnant. Lidia retreated, swearing revenge on the Princess of Heart before she left.
193.
194. Once she prevailed, she ran into Naminé, who explained part of the situation. As it turned out, the reason why Kairi had been separated was because she and Riku had been on a Drop within Sora and Audrey's hearts, Riku in the former's while Kairi had traveled through the latter's. Therefore, they had been "Spirits" within their dreams, countered by "Nightmares" (the Anti Black Coat for Riku and Lidia for Kairi). She also revealed that Sora and Audrey were lost in dreams, about to fall into darkness as per the new Organization's plan. Worried for them, Kairi had been about to make haste, but not before Naminé had incorporated her being into the Princess of Heart in the dream. She had seen the memories of her Nobody's life, of her being manipulated by Organization XIII for their own purposes, manipulating Sora's memories under their orders, her freeing herself from these orders and restoring Sora's memories with the help of Ansem the Wise and Riku, and feeling her loneliness and fears throughout. Though disoriented for a moment, this motivated her further into rescuing Sora from the darkness.
195.
196. After making her way through several more battles with the aid of Audrey's Dream Eaters, Kairi found her way into Sora's heart, making it over a gap due to her concern by accident in the darkness that overtook Audrey. Reuniting with Riku, they came to Where Nothing Gathers in Sora's heart, finding the True Organization XIII, or at least most of it. With the help of King Mickey, as well as Roxas and Naminé, they had battled the silver-haired man, who had been revealed to be a younger incarnation of Xehanort, to a standstill, finding him to be far more powerful than anyone else they had faced. After the fight, they met with the most ancient and elderly of the Xehanorts, Master Xehanort. After revealing his true plans with the X-blade, coupled with the arrival of Donald and Goofy as well, Lea, of all people, showed up and saved Sora's heart from total corruption, helping them to escape the world, but without unlocking it from sleep at all due to Sora's comatose form.
197.
198. All but Sora and Audrey had awakened. On Yen Sid's advice about how to enter a heart to free from sleep with the Keyblade, as learned through the journey and available in the waking world from then on, Kairi and Riku both entered the hearts that they had spent the most time in the journey within, Audrey and Sora respectively. While Kairi Dropped into Audrey's heart, she caught glimpses of her memories, as well as her sadness, anger, and traumas, but also the important things in her life like her friends and loved ones. Though Audrey was protected by her counterpart, Akyra, much like with Sora, the shell that was used to protect the Dream Mage had been turned into a Nightmare by the overtaking darkness. In her case, she was now a horrifying monster, taking a harpy-like appearance of her own like her counterpart, inheriting her most powerful wind abilities. However, Kairi managed to defeat her, freeing Audrey from her prison. She then caught a glimpse of the Dream Mage's personal dream world, which had incorporated her most uplifting memories into the made-up paradise. Though speaking with Akyra briefly, the Princess of Heart also met with three figures that made up the girl's heart (her pride, the "Crow;" her wisdom, the "Owl;" and her love, the "Dove"). After conversing with them, she then awakened Audrey, unlocking the Dream Mage's true potential in controlling her dreams.
199.
200. However, Kairi did not awaken herself just yet. Instead, once more with her concern for Sora taking precedence, she was jettisoned into Sora's mind once more, appearing on Destiny Islands and coming across Riku. Along with him, she had learned that Xion, Ventus, and Roxas were all still within Sora's heart, along with a data copy of Ansem the Wise, though unreachable, alongside the scientist's research data that he had hidden there. With Riku awakening Sora and getting the data, he and Kairi awakened after Sora and Audrey, having a party in joy to be alive and awake. After this did Kairi and Riku discover more of Master Xehanort's revelations.
201.
202. As Audrey and Sora learned, Master Xehanort needed thirteen Seekers of Darkness and seven Guardians of Light to clash in order to make the X-blade, but the original light of the X-blade had been severed into seven pieces, one in each Princess of Heart, causing their purity of heart. Sora was to be the last darkness, but Lea had stopped that, in doing so revealing Isa or Saïx to be another Xehanort, explaining his cruelty. The Seekers would attack the Princesses to plunge the worlds into darkness, so the "Lights" had to fight the "Darknesses" in any case, making the Keyblade War that Xehanort had sought for so long seemingly inevitable, and Audrey in place as a fourteenth member in waiting for them to reach out to for the real world, with Alexander Karsath or his sister's Nobody as a fallback plan if not. However, it seemed as though, due to Kairi not being followed by anyone else aside from Lidia, Xehanort did not expect her at all. Therefore, Yen Sid opted to train her as a true Keyblade Master soon, though she had learned much in this journey so far.
203.
204. Although Sora had failed his test, she, like the Keyblader, was still happy for Riku when he was declared a true Keyblade Master. She, like everyone else, was also surprised when Lea revealed himself to be a Keyblade Wielder, though not knowing how to use one reliably yet. Nonetheless, as everyone went their separate ways afterwards, the Princess of Heart had gone off on her own once more to practice her newly obtained skills, in preparation for the next part in her coming training.
205.
206. Not long after this, however, did Kairi, along with Sora and the others related, find distressing news. Kynthia Usagi, her once best friend, Greg's girlfriend and Naito's mother, had been irrevocably killed in her world. Although Kairi had a falling out with the demigoddess over time, her hypocritical and self-centered attitude completely turning her away, this bit of news still saddened her. Though she still remained friends with Greg, helping him through his grief whenever she can, the Princess of Heart eventually found friendship with Audrey Jones after the previous events, the Dream Mage's honest kindness, along with the support of Sora and the rest of their friends, helping her through her grief and allowing her to keep going on.
207.
208. Kairi returned to Destiny Islands not long after receiving the news, calming herself, though not thinking about giving up this time. She had met up with Kalas there, who was equally reflecting on some past events. The two conversed, Kairi explaining what she had gone through as well as Kynthia's death, and Kalas, after giving his condolences on the latter (despite not liking the demigoddess), explaining his own situation with his inner darkness. However, their re-acquainting was disrupted by an attack by another of the Ghosts, one called a "Specter," corrupted forms of the Sniper Nobodies. Shocked that the Ghosts had found their way into her second homeworld, Kairi fought back along with Kalas. However, with the Specter's ability to transfer their pain to their opponents, they were barely holding on, Kairi close to reaching Purity Form while Kalas was terribly injured. Just before it could end, in a last desperate move, time suddenly stood still. Before Kairi could wonder what was going on, she had been taken over by the spirit that lay within the inactive Oblivion Keyblade that Kalas held, now freed from its prison. The spirit, a woman who had been a part of the Keyblade War so long ago, had taken over the Princess of Heart to perform one last objective before she would pass: to perform the Keyblade Inheritance Ceremony on Kalas, having seen the potential in him to become a Keyblade Wielder, using Kairi as a proxy not just for a physical form, but also due to her skills with her Keyblade. Performing the ceremony, Kalas now acquisited with a Keyblade of his own, the spirit had left Kairi's being and passed on, giving her final thanks for her time with the one-winged boy. With that, the two went back to the fight, their combined efforts managing to defeat the Ghost. With a final thanks from Kalas, Kairi left her second home once more to continue her adventures.
209.
210. The Princess of Heart continues to wander the worlds, training herself further before the next part in her Mastery training is ready. She is not going to sit back and wait for Sora and Riku; this time, she is going to join them in the coming battle. When she said that she was going to fight, she meant it.
211.
212. Sample Post:
213. (The following takes place during the final level of Dream Drop Distance, on Kairi's side.)
214.
215. Where was everyone?
216.
217. Kairi thought this as she made her way through the dark city of The World That Never Was. She had been separated from Riku when she had Dropped, and she could feel no sign of Sora and Audrey anywhere. She had just fought against that woman, that Lidia, though she did not explain anything beyond her own intentions. The fight had left the Princess weakened even though she had won, though it was nothing she couldn't handle. Her concern for her friends were more important than her own safety.
218.
219. As she neared the castle that once based Organization XIII, fighting away more Nightmares, she thought she'd seen a figure not too far away, out of the corner of her eye. On instinct, Kairi ran towards them, shouting the first name that'd come to mind, "Sora?!"
220.
221. Of course, when the person was in clear view, her assumption was far off, though it was also closer than expected. Standing before her was a girl that looked around her age, facing away from her for now. Blonde hair that was draped over her right shoulder, pale skin like her own, dressed in a simple plain white lace dress and light blue sandals. Even without seeing her face, Kairi knew right away who this was.
222.
223. "Naminé..."
224.
225. Her Nobody turned to face her, showing the blue eyes and facial structure that she shared with her other. In spite of the smile that she had given her in greeting, there was a sadness to it, like some sort of regret.
226.
227. Despite that, Kairi had to ask, "Naminé, what are you doing here? Why are you here now when you weren't in the other Sleeping Worlds?"
228.
229. No response. Naminé was silent, only looking away once more. Frowning, Kairi placed a hand on her shoulder, trying to console her from whatever was wrong in order for her to talk.
230.
231. "What is it? Where are Sora, Riku, and Audrey? You know, don't you?"
232.
233. Finally, she spoke, her tone revealing the sadness she had tried to hide, "You really are the light in his heart."
234.
235. A blink. "What?"
236.
237. Naminé faced her again, still with that smile on her face. Rather than go into what she said, she instead began to explain, "You and Riku have gone in a Drop into Sora and Audrey's hearts instead. You've been walking through Audrey's dreams all this time, while he's wandering through Sora's."
238.
239. Kairi's eyes slightly widened to that. So...all this time, they had been wandering through their friends' dreams instead. That's why she and Riku have been separated. "But why?"
240.
241. "You were concerned for them," Naminé replied simply. "You and Riku became the 'Spirits' to counter the 'Nightmares.' That's why the symbol is on your clothes. You've just faced a Nightmare already: that girl, Lidia."
242.
243. Yes...she remembered the Dream Eater symbol on the girl as well, countering with her own. Kairi shook the thought off not a second too soon, however. There was still the one matter at hand.
244.
245. "If that's the case...where are Sora and Audrey? What's happened to them?"
246.
247. For a moment, there was silence once again, the Nobody's smile wiped off. Before Kairi could push for an answer, Naminé did so not another moment later, "They're...they're lost in their own dreams. They're falling into darkness, just as Xehanort planned."
248.
249. Kairi didn't ask any further than that, concern for her friends overtaking her confusion. They were in trouble; that was all she needed to know. "Then we have to save them, before it's too late!" She turned, ready to head for The Castle That Never Was.
250.
251. "Kairi, wait!" The Princess stopped and turned to the Memory Witch, who walked closer to her. "There's one more thing I need to do. For both of us."
252.
253. Kairi frowned, but said nothing else. Naminé took her Other's hands into hers and said last, "I was born without memories...but the ones that I have now, I'll give to you."
254.
255. "What...?"
256.
257. It all happened so suddenly. A flash of light...and it all came to her mind at once. She couldn't move or look away, her eyes widening to it all. There was a final smile from Naminé before she seemed to vanish within that light.
258.
259. They came in the form of bubbles, with pictures and scenes within them. She saw it all, from her birth and captivity within Castle Oblivion, to the year-long process of restoring Sora's memories and her growing friendship with Roxas in the last seven days. She had felt the pain and fear of Organization XIII manipulating her and harming her, the loneliness that motivated her to replace herself in Sora's memories, only to go against the plan even if it hurt her. She'd felt the sadness that Sora would forget her, but also determination to save him, the drive to rebel against her captors. She had seen familiar faces; Riku, Axel, and Ansem the Wise, known then as "Darkness in Zero" at that time; and those unfamiliar; two people in the Organization who had planned to overthrow their leader, the ones who hurt her the most. There was also one girl met at one point, one who looked like her but with dark hair instead. Was that...Xion?
260.
261. Then, the final one, after her speaking with Roxas in the Simulated Twilight Town. Being taken away by DiZ into a Dark Corridor, having no further use before she would be saved by Riku. Her promise to Sora's Nobody.
262.
263. "Roxas! We will meet again. And then we can talk about everything. I may not know it's you, and you may not know it's me. But we will meet again. Someday soon. I promise!"
264.
265. And just like that, it ended. Kairi almost fell to her knees as the visions ended, overwhelmed by the influx of memories. Naminé was no longer there; what had she done? Had she incorporated herself into her, making her truly complete? She hadn't even said a word if that were the case.
266.
267. The Princess almost wanted to cry. What the Organization did to her...what they did to everyone...it was unforgivable. And now, from what little she had gathered, it was all going to start again. Xehanort, one of his incarnations, was manipulating Sora for whatever purpose he had, manipulating Riku as well for a time. She had been left alone, having not been expected.
268.
269. That didn't mean she was going to just sit by and let this happen.
270.
271. Kairi took a deep breath, steadying herself. No matter how disoriented she was from that stunt, she had to save her friends before it was too late. With that, she made her way to The Castle That Never Was, calling out, hoping that Sora would hear her somehow:
