@here so i got a bit of an odd question.... again. which would work better in the long run for supplimenting income in the early 2000's: cornering the weed market, or some other drug? yes it's for a fic.

@I Own Your Souls well here's the thing: it's for a fic based around the early 2000's, so selling it legally would be pretty much out, unless alena (main character) were to strong arm the medical facilities to start using her product..... actually, that seems like a very interesting avenue to go down

@I Own Your Souls at risk of spoiling: alena spends a bunch of her time trying to figure out how to spring twilight from wherever she's being kept, and comes to one conclusion - she almost needs her own personal army to be able to pull it off. without much to go on, she corners the weed market and makes enough that she can start either funding or founding a private security company for the soul purpose of springing and protecting twilight.

the only problem: i wanted this to take place in the great north, but private militias/security forces can be penalized under Section 70 of the Criminal Code, found here: http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/C-46/page-10.html?txthl=70#s-70

but if this were to be taking place after 2001, there'd most definitely be a whole slew of other charges as well....

@NovaTheBro I think the possible criminal stuff she could be facing would be part of what would make the story interesting. And part of her 'challenges' that she needs to overcome.

you technically can start a private security company, but the problem is that it wouldn't be to the extent that one could in the us
down there, security company and private militia are almost blurred together most of the time. up here, it's just plain old security guards, unless endorsed and/or involved with the government in some way

canadians dont have the right to bear arms, and you bet your ass that we dont even have rights for open carry, let alone concealed
hell, weapons in general are a fuckload more restricted up here than in the states

alena would have to almost be the most powerful person in north america to be able to walk around and not get her ass handed to her while in canada
