- ~~ DK64 PRACTICE ROM ~~
- ~~ FILE STATE GUIDE ~~
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- - Perform a run on emulator:
- - Acceptable emulators:
- - BizHawk (1.12.x or 1.13.x)
- - Project64 (3.0)
- - Please use a DK64 Vanilla US ROM rather than any ROM Hack or other region. This will only increase the likelihood of having errors in the RAM Dumps.
- - If you are on BizHawk, don't use ScriptHawk either (if you don't know what this is, don't worry about this note)
- - Before entering each level (after clearing the B. Locker (if your run does this), but before entering the portal), a RAM Dump will need to be made.
- - Steps:
- - BizHawk
- - Open Hex Editor (Tools > Hex Editor)
- - Save your file (File > Save as Binary...)
- - Set your file name as something easy to identify (eg. Japes 1 NLE.bin)
- - Project64
- - Open the settings menu (Options > Settings)
- - Uncheck "Hide Advanced Settings"
- - Go to "Advanced", and check "Enable Debugger"
- - Open the dump window (Debugger>Memory>Dump...)
- - Check your settings match the following:
- - Start VAddress: 0x80000000
- - End VAddress: 0x80800000
- - Use Alternate PC: Unchecked
- - Format: RAW - Big Endian (N64)
- - Set your file name as something easy to identify (eg. Aztec 2 NLE 40BPs.bin)
- - Click "Dump"
- - This process can also be done at any point in the run which you deem significant (eg. before tough tricks such as "Takeoff Skip" in NLE)
- - Send all your file states to me:
- - Methods:
- - Via DM: @Ballaam#6738
- - In the DK64 Speedrunning Discord: #practice-rom
- - In the DK64 Romhacking Discord: #practice-rom-dev
- - Since the files will be larger than 8MB, discord (without Nitro) will complain at plain uploads. As such, either zip the files to compress them or upload them to a file sharing website (such as google drive), and send me a link
- - If you mess something up (eg. You forget to collect a BP in the lobby before making the state, if your run normally does collect it prior to level entry), let me know. This can be edited out afterwards.
