Though enclosed by tall white walls and gleaming windows, the ceilings of the buildings that make up the Overlook Spaceport don't seem to exist, a privilege of life beneath the climate-controlled forcefields of Song City. Today there are few travelers passing to and fro on their way to their destination through the obvious Decheeran influence is still visible in the lack of typical gate systems, with several waiting areas seeming to exist as grassy lawns currently occupied by hundreds of Peacekeepers in uniform. Despite the idyllic nature of the spaceport, security is thick, with so many surveillance nanos present they are visible as a translucent, silvery fog in the air. A podium made from living wood sprouts from the ground framed by two poles with three flags each, the top flag of each is the flag of the Song Dominion and below are the flags for the racial homeworlds. Several children in school uniforms are seated together off to the side, clearly here for a group trip.
Victoria T'rvati, Dominion Archivist stands here. Occasionally tracing the myriad scars on her face, Rhindara lingers nearby. Starmourner Vega T'rvati, Lord Commander stands here. Sunny is here, holding a megaphone and some datashards. Flipilaria stands far off to the side of the gathering. Tasp lounges nearby, features grim. Blending into the background as it hovers and darts about is an unmanned aerial vehicle.
Built against one wall is a tall, double-doored cabinet. A circular information desk takes up a great deal of space here. A large crate formed of thick paristeel stands on the ground. A square table is here, flipped on its side.

Vega smiles faintly and nods while saying, "Good, I'm glad to hear it. The first step in unity is showing up.".

Mairon's attention wanders as he watches a cloud of security nanos pass by, then nods his agreement as Vega's words reach his ears.

Gradually, as she waits, Tasp shifts her weight from resting mostly on one foot to resting mostly on the other. Her shoulders mirror the change.

Vega moves off to the side to speak with a Peacekeeper who is standing near the podium.

Mairon remarks to Flipilaria, "It can't be that much of a shock to find that you have alcohol, can it?".

Flipilaria says to Mairon, "Runnin' low."

Light glitters off the glass skyways and hovering layers of shops that make up the flying market.

An official Crazy Jerry delivery bot zooms up to Flipilaria, deposits a hard-sided parcel into her hands, and speeds off again.
Flipilaria does not offer a response.

Vega carefully walks up the podium, her long elaborate ponytail fluttering as her new elevation lightly batters her with a breeze. "Salutations and greetings to all of you in attendance. All of you represent the Dominion, the past, present, and..." her gaze drops to the direction of the school children, "... the future.".

Flipilaria's gaze lingers over the schoolchildren as Vega addresses them.

Vega says, "I am pleased that we are all together to welcome in a new year, and with this new Year there will be many changes both in tone and focus."

Pulling up a datapad to view a list, Vega says, "Secretary of Internal Affairs Mereas will now be known as Commissioner Mereas."

Vega says, "Previously known as Secretary of Public Information Victoria will be now known as Lead Dominion Archivist, Victoria."

Vega says, "Admiral Yayeh will be working in a more official manner under Grand Admiral Rhindara in the Military Support Staff unit."

Kamin enters from the northwest.

Vega says, "Elasyra will now be know as Warrant Officer Elasyra to show she is working in the Logistics Support Staff under Commissioner Mereas."

Kamin nods.

[Mindsim]: It is now the 4th of Nano.

Vega says, "Secretary of Commerce Vex has stepped down and will now be working in Support Staff and will now be titled as Warrant Officer."

Vega says, "Mairon T'rvati, please step forward."

Vega looks up and motions to Mairon where she would like him to stand.

Mairon hops off a heavy paristeel crate to approach Vega and take the indicated position.

Mairon stands up.

Vega says to Mairon, "You have been selected among your peers to serve in a new area of the Faction's needs. Congratulations on your new position, Peacekeeper Mairon T'rvati."

Mairon says to Vega, "Thank you, Lord Commander. I'll look forward to serving the Dominion."

Vega politely applauds Mairon.

Sunny Sol'lun congratulates Mairon with some wild clapping.

Vega says, "Thank you for your service."

Mairon dips his head in a short bow while responding, "It is my pleasure.".

Vega says, "Our final appointment is one of important note."

Mairon departs once dismissed, returning to his position on a heavy paristeel crate with a small smile.

Vega motions to the position she wants Tasp to take on the podium next to her.

Tasp shifts upright, or closer to it, at the words. With a short inward breath and a loose shake to one arm, she moves forward and past whatever other onlookers are nearby to occupy the position indicated by Vega.

The never-sleeping city glitters in a panoply of spires and lights beneath the darkened sky.

Vega motions to someone off of the podium and a drone flies in carrying a circular object covered in a tarp. The object is carefully lowered onto the stage before Vega continues, "Your efforts and valor in working to keep the faction safe have been noticed, and your tireless pursuit of the perpetrators have been nothing short of diligent. Today I would like to award you with a historically accurate replica of the Great Shield of Jodris."

Vega says, "For those of you who do not know, Jodris was an ocean beast of which we have never seen again, the original Great Shield was created with a part of its shell during the Eshvu battles of extinction on the Dominion Homeworld of the Amaians, Delphi."

Kamin ponders the situation.

Vega pulls off the tarp to show the audience the item: This shield is a scale replica of the Great Shield of Jodris. The great ocean beast's shell shone with the colors of the Anemoi desert and even without technological enhancements had a hardness comparable to transteel. Through advanced Amaian engineering the shell fragments were painstakingly shaped and used to construct a floating semisphere made of segmented, opalescent discs that hovers around its wearer to deflect incoming attacks.

Tasp keeps mostly still while listening to Vega, save for the slight, repetitive twitch of one elbow that sets the connected fin moving a bit more noticeably. The mention of the Shield earns a surprised blink, and her eyes lift to study the drone far more carefully. When the tarp is pulled away she leans forward a fraction to examine the replica intently.

Mouth opening slightly, then closing, before she speaks, Tasp says to Vega, "Thank you, Lord Commander."

Vega smiles at she looks at Tasp, "I hope this shield will serve is a reminder of your promise to the Dominion people, and your new appointment to Pax Justicar, Leader of the Dominion Peacekeepers!" She claps as she says, "Thank you for your current and future service, Pax Justicar."

The ground beneath your feet quakes suddenly, followed by the lightness that accompanies the subtle adjustments of Song City's massive hovertech engines. A sonic boom tears through the air moments later, rattling through the city's streets with powerful gusts. Beneath the enormous floating metropolis, cannons the size of houses fire in unison. Heavy ordinance reports on all sides a moment later in a the deafening peal.

A harsh buzzing sound smothers the air moments later as countless wasp drones darken the sky around you. In perfect time they weave around each other and assume the shape of enormous letters to spell the word: "SONG" Their bodies, silhouetted darkly against the sky, shine briefly brilliant white as rooftop turrets all over the city find their targets. The breeze carries away what little remains.

The sky shimmers in a sudden pattern of translucent hexagons as a bit of airborn debris is tossed up against the city's forcefield.

The cannons elicit a flinch that Tasp nearly perfectly absorbs into the motion of straightening to attention, once it's clear the noises aren't attached to any sort of cataclysm. Holding the replica in one hand, she draws the other up to match Vega's salute before replying, "I will not forget my promise. Thank you, Lord Commander." Her hand drops after the comment, but she awaits dismissal.

Vega smiles widely and says not only to Tasp but everyone present, "Thank you for your service. Dismissed!"
