  1. [08:45] <theMarg0r> Jen enters the reading room. Much like everywhere else in the temple, everything seems to be made of stone, sometimes covered in cloth. Heavy curtains block out most sunlight, except for two beams of sunlight that hit and illuminate the small round table in the middle of the room perfectly. You can only assume this has led to some readings being cancelled due to bad weather in the past. The...
  2. [08:45] <theMarg0r> ...prophetess sits there, covered from head to toe in heavy robes and a veil, only her bare hands are uncovered.
  3. [08:46] * Jenifer_Teague waves and smiles "Hello there~"
  4. [08:48] <theMarg0r> "Welcome." she points at the (stone, though it has a pillow on it) chair in front of you. "Is there something you would ask of fate, or will fate itself decide what it will reveal to you?"
  5. [08:49] <Jenifer_Teague> Her smile slips a bit. "I don't suppose Fate does detective work?"
  6. [08:52] *** Kat has joined #DDPFIC
  7. [08:52] <theMarg0r> "If there is something you have lost and wish found, perhaps fate could point you in the right direction. Let us see..." she deals you nine cards in a three by three spread.
  8. [08:54] * Jenifer_Teague nods, sitting down. "...my little Sister. She vanished long ago...I hope she's..." She takes a breath. "Still alive."
  9. [08:56] <theMarg0r> The turns over the left-most column. The cards show, from top to bottom, a unicorn lying in grass with a pear impaled on its horn, a cricket in a flashy white suit, who just happens to also be shuffling cards (I'd make a cardception joke, except oh wait, I already did), and a group of crow-faced bandits, dividing up their loot.
  10. [09:01] * Jenifer_Teague raises an eyebrow
  11. [09:04] <theMarg0r> "So the cards show." she nods and points at the crows card. She also has silver nail-polish. How novel, most people would expect black, probably. "The Crows card signifies a loss you have suffered in the past, that has hit you hard." to change things up, she skips over the middle card and points at the top one. "Yet the Unicorn shows that you still come from a place of great prosperity,...
  12. [09:04] <theMarg0r> ...never suffering from a great need." now she points at the middle card "Yet still, you've never been satisfied, and your family's resources, as well as the drive to find what you've lost, has set you on a speedy path towards your goal - the Cricket. This card also shows that there is indeed a treasure at the end of this path you've set upon. Will it be literal gold at the end of the...
  13. [09:04] <theMarg0r> ...rainbow? Or perhaps your lost family member, a treasure you still hold in your heart."
  14. [09:06] * Jenifer_Teague nods
  15. [09:06] <theMarg0r> She turns over the middle cards, representing the present. Again, top to bottom, they show a shady-looking fellow with a hood, pulling a severed hand from under his cloak with its fingertips replaced by keys, in the middle, what can definitely and unambiguously only be a Trumpet Archon, and finally, a white serpent with wings of rainbow feathers.
  16. [09:12] <theMarg0r> "It seems like there is no better time to act than the present." she starts with the top card "The locksmith is giving you the tools you need to achieve your goal. Fate is showing you the door, but you must walk through it yourself." on to the middle card "Right now, you are as the Trumpet - a forceful, driving agent, coming in power and glory, driving others in your presence to new heights....
  17. [09:12] <theMarg0r> ...But in his ambiguous position in the middle, the trumpeter should beware - the higher you fly, the longer and more painful the fall."
  18. [09:13] * Jenifer_Teague grins "IF I fall."
  19. [09:14] <theMarg0r> "Finally." on to the winged snake at the bottom "The opportunity given to you by the Locksmith may not repeat itself. The Winged Serpent, misaligned, shows a clear and very present danger of not seizing the moment, or doing so ill-advisedly." the final trio of cards gets flipped. "Let us see what the future holds for you - and possibly your sister as well."
  20. [09:17] <theMarg0r> The last three cards show, again, from top to bottom, a couple of ragged slaves, breaking their shackles under a clear sky, two very similar figures, one dark-haired, with a red shirt and green pants, the other one white-haired, with an inverted color scheme, holding a dagger behind his back. And hey what do you know, a man chained up, hanging upside down above a vat of boiling wax. It must...
  21. [09:17] <theMarg0r> ...be fate!
  22. [09:19] *** Samanhe has joined #DDPFIC
  23. [09:20] <theMarg0r> "In a place of great punishment and imprisonment - the Waxworks, your souls will be at odds, as the Twins once were, but should all go well, there is a promise of great liberation and freedom for many people, as the Big Sky shows." wow, she really blazed through THOSE cards.
  24. [09:22] * Jenifer_Teague nods "The first part makes sense. I'm staying in the same inn as Kat." She chuckles. "Thanks. A lot."
  25. [09:25] <theMarg0r> She nods. "Her reading was also most interesting. You should probably talk to her about it. I wish I could, but there is a strict code against revealing details of one person's reading to another. That's all I can say about it. May the deck of fate forever be stacked in your favor."
  26. [09:26] <Jenifer_Teague> "So like every time I play poker?" She nods. "It's been a pleasure."
  27. [09:31] * Jenifer_Teague heads outside, looking for is Sammy is still about, or if anyone else is.
  28. [09:33] * Samanhe is nearby, leaning against a wall and otherwise lazing about while waiting for the privateer. "Ya get yer future all spooked out?" she drawls.
  29. [09:34] <Jenifer_Teague> "Yep. I'm destined for greatness."
  30. [09:35] * Samanhe rolls her eyes. "So ain't nothin' different than what ya already knew, then. I toldja this was all a buncha hooey."
  31. [09:36] <Jenifer_Teague> "Too bad, still want see what you get~"
  32. [09:38] <Samanhe> She huffs a sigh and rolls her eyes. "Fine, fine, if it'll getcha ta lay off about the stupid cards I'll go. Just so ya know, I put no stock in what hucksters like these folk say." She levers herself off the wall and ambles past Jen, into the room.
  33. [09:41] <theMarg0r> The priestess sits there, reshuffling the cards, waiting for you. Somehow. Everything else is as Jen left it, except the beam of light illuminating the table is now slightly off-center. Hopefully that's not a problem.
  34. [09:41] <theMarg0r> "Welcome. Do you wish to ask fate a specific question, or will you let fate itself decide what to show you?"
  35. [09:42] *** Ana has joined #DDPFIC
  36. [09:42] <Samanhe> "I got nothin' ta ask, I s'pose, so whatever for the latter there. Anything ya want me ta do, or just have a sit?"
  37. [09:43] <theMarg0r> She silently points for you to sit down and deals you that three-by-three spread.
  38. [09:44] * Samanhe takes a seat and watches, affecting an almost bored air.
  39. [09:47] <theMarg0r> "Let us see where you come from." she says as soon as you sit down and flips over the left-most column of cards. From top to bottom, they show an exotic dancer, twirling amidst what look like the planets of a solar system, an owl, holding a thread and needle in its beak, and a crocodile-headed humanoid in a fancy suit, drinking tea while sitting on the back of a naked body. Okay then.
  40. [09:48] <Samanhe> Her eyebrows draw together in confusion, though she remains respectfully silent.
