A humble businessman with a buried past seeks justice when his daughter is killed in an act of terrorism. A cat-and-mouse conflict ensues with a government official, whose past may hold clues to the killers' identities.
The story of humble London businessman Quan (Chan), whose long-buried past erupts in a revenge-fueled vendetta when the only person left for him to love - his teenage daughter - is taken from him in a senseless act of politically-motivated terrorism. In his relentless search for the identity of the terrorists, Quan is forced into a cat- and-mouse conflict with a Irish government official (Brosnan), whose own past may hold clues to the identities of the elusive killers.
A very satisfying movie but I felt that Jackie Chan could&#39;ve used more time on the screen. I love a revenge flick as much as the next guy and I totally loved to see Jackie kicking ass and killing the murderers of his daughter. Any father who loves his children would want justice at any cost. This movie reminded me of Taken where an ageing father takes justice into his own hands when the system fails them or is too slow.<br/><br/>I&#39;m accustomed to seeing Jackie in a light-hearted comedic role of a police detective, but he&#39;s proved that he is much more than his martial arts skill and is able to take on serious roles. Pierce Brosnan has always been one of my favourite actors and he has taken on many challenging roles throughout his long career and staring beside Jackie you can see the chemistry between them works so well.<br/><br/>The beginning and the end for me were good, while the plot is a bit too complicated. I feel, however, that Jackie should&#39;ve had a larger role in the movie.
The Foreigner is based on the novel &#39;The Chinaman&#39;, by Stephen Leather. Quan Ngoc Minh(Jackie Chan) loves his daughter Fan(Katie Leung), a lot. Fan is killed in a bomb blast. Quan will go to any means necessary, to find the people behind the bomb blast &amp; bring them to justice. <br/><br/>The Foreigner is a great movie. Director Martin Campbell has maintained the suspense throughout the film. The action set pieces are superb. The performances are the highlight of the movie. Jackie Chan is spectacular as Quan Ngoc Minh. Chan flawlessly portrays the gamut of emotions that his character feels, during the course of the film. Pierce Brosnan is brilliant as Liam Hennessy. The supporting cast is fantastic. The Foreigner is a must watch for Jackie Chan fans &amp; fans of action thrillers. Go &amp; witness an intense Jackie Chan movie.
[Martin Campbell's] a master at rejuvenating tired warhorses, and he pulls it off again with this one.
