  1. Setting up MS on expired domain
  2. Hello, I've been trying to set up money sites on strong expired domains. Somehow those expired domains act as if they were fresh new (even though they have lots of strong contextual backlinks). Is there any way/trick to make them work and use the backlinks' power they should have?

  14. What you were exactly expecting?
  15. Were those expired sites of the same theme of your MS?
  16. I was hoping to at least have better initial positions.
  17. It turns out they do not rank any better than a fresh new domain.
  18. They were not WP sites beforehand (I work on WP) so it is a different theme.
  19. I know people successfully do this even though they completely change the topic and theme of the site so not sure if that is an issue..

  24. They are relevant to your niche? I mean have link from finance sites and you setup a finance niche on that site? Did you ping the old links of your expired domains? When you setup those sites?
  25. maybe your domain is bad?

  30. And you did that with $50 domain I presume. Try $5000 and you will see a difference.
  31. No I did not buy 50$ domains but I got 1000$ domains which was my kinda biggest life investment and their positions suck.
  32. Well, that's pretty unfortunate. Using domains as money sites is oftentimes just throwing shit against the wall and hoping something will stick. Feel free to send them over if you want, I can take a look, but can't promise I will be able to tell you the reason why they are not working as they should.
  33.
  34. So what does that look like exactly?
  35.
  36. Instead of starting and focusing at the rankings stage – like many SEO professionals are used to – you’ve got to zoom out.
  37.
  38. Crawling to Conversions Framework
  39.
  40. SEO professionals who work on large websites need to look at the full funnel.
  41.
  42. Enterprise sites simply can’t start with keywords and rankings or they’ll miss an enormous opportunity.
  43.
  44. How a Crawling-to-Conversions Process Works
  45.
  46. With search, the starting point is your website, then how Google crawls it, then how it’s added to the index, then how searchers find it and interact with it.
  47.
  48. You can use that same logical sequence that search has and mirror it in how you evaluate your website for SEO.
  49.
  50. 1. Understand What Pages Exist on Your Website
  51.
  52. Start by understanding what pages exist on your website.
  53.
  54. This step is usually really eye-opening for people, especially those who work on ecommerce websites that have multiple different ways to access a single page due to sorting and filtering options that can create tons of different versions of a single page with the same content.
  55.
  56. You might not have an accurate idea of how many pages or what pages are actually in your site structure until you crawl it.
  57.
  58. 2. Look at Which of Those Pages Google Is Actually Visiting
  59.
  60. Next, look at which of those pages Google is actually visiting by analyzing your log files.
  61.
  62. The goal of a crawl is to go through your site the way Google would if it could devote unlimited time to exploring your website, but since Google doesn’t have unlimited time, this step is really important as it allows you to see which pages Google is visiting vs. ignoring.
  63.
  64. 3. Know How Your Indexed Pages Are Performing in SERPs
  65.
  66. In those first two steps, you’ll likely find pages that Google is visiting that you don’t want them to visit, as well as important pages that they’re missing.
  67.
  68. To ensure that Google is adding your key pages to its index, you can:
  69.
  70. Adjust your robots.txt file to direct Google away from certain pages.
  71. Update your sitemaps to include your key pages.
  72. Remove bad URLs like those that have 404-redirected.
  73.
  74. As it turns out, we’re averaging about 25 downloads per month. Thankfully, the client has been realistic about this number, recognizing the not-exactly-parallel comparisons they were making at the start.
  75.
  76. In fact, PPC has become their best performing marketing channel, in terms of cost per conversion and quality of leads. So everyone’s happy.
  77.
  78. 5. They’ll Ask You to Share
  79.
  80. Sometimes, companies like to hold information close to the vest.
  81.
  82. This is most often true of smaller businesses. Larger businesses are more accustomed to sharing sensitive information with other departments, partners and outside vendors. But some smaller businesses are reluctant to share sales numbers or information about their business strategy.
  83.
  84. But the more information you share with your PPC agency, the better.
  85.
  86. The more the agency knows about your business, the better it can serve you.
  87.
  88. For example, we have a client that was very open about sharing their business plans, strategies, and results.
  89.
  90. Having a broader context for the business was very helpful to us. It helped us make sure that our activities aligned with their goals.
