  4. fortunate water-carrier clutched hold of a heavy box
  5. in a vain attempt to prevent himself being carried
  6. off, and dragged it with him until he was forced to
  7. let go by its being stopped by the side of the tent.
  8. He then caught hold of a tent rope, and clung
  9. tightly to it until it broke. As soon as the lion
  10. managed to get him clear of the tent, he sprang at
  11. his throat and after a few vicious shakes the poor
  12. bhistis agonising cries were silenced for ever.
