Q: What are you trying to do?
A: Beat Pokemon Red without glitches using the speedrun route from 2014.

Q: Why are you running this?
A: Today is the last day where speedrunning will be the main activity in my life. I'm starting a real job tomorrow, and I'll have other responsibilities as well. I'd like to end this chapter of my life on a positive note (in contrast to the past year, where speedruns have been mostly frustrating for me). And this run is undoubtedly my favorite in the past 5 years of being a speedrunner.

Q: Why use an old route?
A: It's a forgotten gem, and it has nostalgic value. Most speedrun routes from 2014 look pretty bad in comparison to today's route. The route for Red glitchless, however, has mostly stood the test of time. It's not used anymore because the community has allowed instant text and RNG manipulation, which opened up many huge time saves. But it's a really fun route that, in my opinion, represented the peak of Pokemon speedrunning.

Q: What makes it so fun?
A: It's full of decision making and has relatively low risk. You can run almost any Nidoran, but the route varies based on your stats, which random encounters you get, and other luck throughout the game. Compare that to the current Red glitchless route, which has basically no decision making and has the highest risk of any speedrun in Pokemon history.

Q: Why are the splits "Tricky" and "Lys"?
A: ExtraTricky made the initial Nidoran route for Red, along with Mountebank. He held the WR in 2013, and his analytical approach to the game inspired me to start running it myself. LysDesTenebres is a former Red runner whose splits I always ran against because my own splits had a ridiculously lucky early game. And when people asked if I was on WR pace (which I usually wasn't), I could still say yes because Lys was the female WR holder! (It was a silly meme.)

Q: Why not play Red Classic?
A: That category requires you to go through Rocket Hideout, which is lame.

Q: Will you still be streaming after today?
A: Yes, but probably only 1-3 times per week.
