  1. Fallen King: Desert Action (18)

  4. .
  5. Hardwire firmly held the vertical grills of the gate connected to both the guard house and the cable link as well. His armored hands glowed orange and the gate began melting to liquid, creating a gap huge enough for them to fit through.
  6. .
  7. "Be on your wits, brothers!" Hardwire said. "We're resorting to push-forward combat. We're abandoning stealth because there's no point." He motioned at the open compound around the warehouse.
  8. .
  9. "Where are the vehicles and the crates?" Sensor rhetorically asked.
  10. .
  11. "Must be shipped elsewhere." Beatstrike replied as they began to jog towards the huge warehouse.
  12. .
  13. Their armored soles beat against the pavement of the ground, sending dust to rise in a geyser. The only sound they could hear currently was the gentle breeze that blows in the air and the silent hum of their armors. However, something alien joined the quiet cacophony of noises.
  14. .
  15. The rising volume of a thousand boots marching.
  16. .
  17. "Targets to the left!" Shocker yelled as he spotted a squad of five men in green fatigues and black balaclavas. He raised his Blast Rifle and opened fire at the Black Poison Insurgents.
  18. .
  19. The plasma shots went in an arc and landed squarely onto the chest of one of the Insurgents. He landed on the ground, chest bubbling as high temperature cooked his flesh. The fabric of his uniform mixed with his meat as well.
  20. .
  21. "Man, sometimes this weapons are weird!" Shocker said as he aimed at his second target and fired steadily, controlling the recoil with a grip.
  22. .
  23. The second Insurgent twitched before hitting the ground. The other Insurgents opened fire at them but widely missed. The others were currently pre-occupied, taking down their own targets.
  24. .
  25. Shocker's aim jumped to the next one. He put him down with precise headshots. The remaining two tried to run and escape, but he terminated them with body shots that turned their flesh into sizzling muscles.
  26. .
  27. "Forward, forward!" Hardwire ordered amidst the rising chaos.
  28. .
  29. They moved with an increased haste as men began to move into position to intercept them. Shocker spotted another group, this time, comprised of three men in the same outfit with weapons raised. He took down the man in the center. In retaliation, the other two fired back and Shocker's ears, despite the protection of his helmet, was filled with the sound of bullets ricocheting.
  30. .
  31. He fired at the left Insurgent before he took down to the right. Another bullet bounced against his backplate. Shocker turned to see a duo of armed men in crimson vest and olive cargo pants. Their faces were covered in silver hockey masks. Shocker's vision was suddenly obscured by a rectangular message
  32. .
  33. "Steelfox Insurgents," Shocker muttered before winking the message away. He fired at the couple, peppering them with plasma shots. The bastards let out a cry before Hardwire let out another order.
  34. .
  35. "To the entrance, brothers!" He said as he rushed towards a Black Poison Insurgent and stabbed him with his extended armblade.
  36. .
  37. Shocker noticed that his brothers were already on the move. He kicked the ground beneath him to boost his speed and keep up his pace with them. To his right, a trio of men in black drabs and grey kevlar suits were targeting him with spring-action buckshots. Shocker returned fire at the Spikehead Paramilitary forces, taking down one of them. He almost laugh at their pitiful accuracy and the fact that they took a boomstick in a firefight made him question their logic, if they have anything remaining.
  38. .
  39. He listened to the cries of their brethren. He aimed at the second one and terminated him with a head shot. The other one suffered the same lethal infliction to silence the bastards in an instant.
  40. .
  41. He moved again and he noticed that his brothers were engaged in a melee with the Black Poison Insurgents. Shocker raised his foot and kicked a nearby green and black Insurgent down to ground before stomping onto his face with his armored boot.
  42. .
  43. He aimed to the left and terminated another Insurgent. A Steelfox Insurgent attacked him again from behind. Shocker drew his Ray Pistol and fired at his assailant, terminating him with a gunshot to the neck. He shut the gurgling noise from his hearing and focused at the overpowered congregation of Humans ahead of him.
  44. .
  45. Indeed, Humans were no match against the might of the Protectorates. If Evil could not withstand them, what could a mortal do?
  46. .
  47. "Jeep at 2 o'clock!" Hardwire yelled as he saw a technical mounted with a .50 calibre, occupied by men in yellow trench coats and purple flak drabs beneath. They were firing their weapons at them.
  48. .
  49. Shocker sucked in filtrated air through his nostrils and set his rifle at high. He fired, the recoil kicked in with a punch but his aim stayed through the machine gunner flew backwards with a crunch.
  50. .
  51. He sensed more presence behind. Shocker turned to see men in black tactical gear. They looked like alien robots: helmets, goggled face masks, kevlar vests, tactical jackets, shin guards, knee guards and plated boots. All of them were armed with a prototype M-16.
  52. .
  53. "So, Wild Coyotes Mechanized Outfits and Hudson Security Forces were on our asses now!" Linepower complained. "Where's our frigging backup?!"
  54. .
  55. "Have faith and patience, brother!" Hardwire ordered as they stood their ground against black armored soldiers and speeding jeeps.
  56. .
  57. Shocker opened fire, taking down the first armored security officer. His comrades fired back, placing well-aimed shots at his chest. This forced him to take a step backwards as he readjusted his aim.
  58. .
  59. He aimed at their faceplates, the weakest points of their armors. He fired relentlessly, melting their faces off. He did the same with the other, hearing them grunt in an agonizing tone.
  60. .
  61. "Bayonet!" He yelled, and the rifle's chain bayonet extended. He approached the nearest wailing security officer who was clawing at his melting face and severed his throat with a diagonal slash. The voice was muffled by the invasion of liquid through the windpipe and the man immediately fell.
  62. .
  63. He aimed at his target and fired again. He managed to take him down but more shots went to his armor.
  64. .
  65. "Godda--I would appreciate the backup any time sooner!" Linepower complained as he received a round to his left pauldron.
  66. .
  67. "Are you sure about that?!" Hardwire asked as he fired upon a Wild Coyote on a jeep.
  68. .
  69. "Yeah, I'm friggin' sure!" Linepower replied.
  70. .
  71. "Okay then," Hardwire's voice was soon drowned by the noises of the battlefield.
  72. .
  73. Soon enough, their surroundings were engulfed by a bright light. They all stopped to regard the event.
  74. .
  75. The light dissipates, revealing a cyclopean armored mechanical Angel. It glowed again, transforming back to its human form.
  76. .
  77. As soon as it did, it was already firing upon the nearest Insurgents.
  78. .
  79. "Tier-3 Blade-Bearer Protectorate Blackshot, reporting for duty as ordered." The Protectorate clad in black and gold said as he terminated a crawling enemy with a kick.
  80. .
  81. "That's it?! A single Blade-Bearer?!" Linepower asked.
  82. .
  83. "Blackshot, you know what to do." Hardwire said with a nod and the Protectorate began to charge at the black-clad security forces.
