  1. >You heave a sigh, running a hand over your face.
  2. >Luna really is best princess
  3. >Cracking open an eye, you look beside you and spot Gloom Wing fidgeting next to her suitcases, her hooves clicking against the solid wood platform.
  4. >Reaching over you place your hand on top of her head and idly scratch at her ears.
  5. >With a quiet sigh she seems to relax some, her fidgeting stopping for the moment.
  6. >It makes you feel a bit better, too.
  7. >”Anon, I’m nervous.”
  8. “About the train ride, your parents, the job, or the Griffon Kingdoms?”
  9. >Gloom Wing groans, her ears tilting back and flicking against you hand.
  10. >”Oh... All of it, really. I’ve never been on a train, then where we’re going and with my parents meeting us? Not to mention I’m supposed to be guarding my parents now!”
  11. >With a whine she lets out a huff and flops into your side, he head bumping into your chest as she looks indignantly at the empty train tracks ahead of you both, a pout adorning her face.
  12. >”I don’t think they’ll be mad, but... I’m still nervous. This is all that stupid captain’s fault!”
  13. >You can feel her wings ruffling against your side as they fidget, her agitation spiking.
  14. >Not that it was the first time.
  15.
  16. >”Aarraraagagghh!”
  17. >A small eruption of clothes flies through the room as Gloom Wing tosses them about.
  18. >”What is this?! I’m a grown mare! I can’t be ordered to go live with my parents!”
  19. >Biting your lip, you hold back a laugh as you nod, more to your benefit then hers.
  20. >”This is that empty headed captain’s fault! If he just let it be we’d all be fine!”
  21. >Gloom Wing sighs heavily and begins gathering up seemingly random pieces of clothes, stuffing them haphazardly into a suitcase.
  22. >Taking a look through the room, you can tell this is not the first time she’s... Thought about this.
  23. >Hearing a huff, you dart your eyes back towards her, noticing her looking right at you.
  24. >”You agree, right Anon? If Sunshine had just... Just!...”
  25. >Gloom Wing groans and flops onto her side, idly pawing at the clothes strewn about the floor, a tight pout on her face.
  26. >Shaking your head, you walk over and sit down beside her, scratching at her ear.
  27. >A small smile comes to her face as she lets out a quiet hum of approval.
  28. >You had already packed everything you could have needed, and a few mementos, too.
  29. “It won’t be so bad, Gloomie. Your parents are nice and I’m sure they will help us until we get our bearings.”
  30. >Gloom Wing begins using her legs to scoot along the floor, dragging herself until she can rest her head on your lap, looking up at you.
  31. >”Aren't you even a little bit mad, Anon?”
  32. >idly rubbing at the base of her ear, you shake your head before lightly tapping the tip of her nose, causing her to scrunch up her face.
  33. “Angry isn’t it, I’m more excited then anything. I haven’t really seen much beyond Canterlot so I’m just as nervous as you are, but I’m just too excited to get out there and see something new.”
  34. >Gloom Wing tilts her head and gives you a quizzical look, raising an eyebrow.
  35. >”Just like an explorer?”
  36. >Nodding you feel a small smile tug at the corners of your lips.
  37. “Yea, kinda. Back on Earth we knew everything about it, so coming to Equestria. where everything is new and magic is real? Of course it’s going to at least be a little exciting to travel.”
  38. >Gloom Wing gives a small nod, before rolling onto her side again, and closing her eyes, resting against you.
  39. >”I’m just happy spending time with you, so I guess you’re right. It can’t be all bad, though I’d like not to be forced to move so quickly...”
  40. >Letting out a laugh, you reach down and tousle her hair.
  41. “You’re an emotional one, huh?”
  42. >Gloom Wing huffs and wiggles out of your lap before standing and clearing her throat.
  43. >”No, I’m just a bit nervous is all. Still, thanks for listening Anonymous. It helps me feel better.”
  44. >With a smile, you survey the room, noticing once again that it looks like a small hurricane has blown through before standing back up, stretching as you do.
  45. “Well, how about I help you pack then?”
  46. >Gloom Wing stiffens up and begins darting her eyes around the room, seemingly for the first time noticing how messy it is.
  47. >”Ehehehe, I’m fine Anon! Thanks, I appreciate it but, I can do it myself!”
  48. >Gloom Wing quickly trots up to you, bringing her hooves up and pushing you towards the exit, her wings flapping nervously and giving her more leverage.
  49. >”A lady has to has her secrets, you know! Besides, you don’t want to watch me pack boring filly things, right?”
  50. >Barking out a laugh, you quickly find yourself in the hall as Gloom Wing slams the door behind you, the noise echoing down the hall.
  51. >Still chuckling, you turn and head back to double check your packing.
  52.
  53. >The blast of a whistle stirs you from your contemplations.
  54. >Looking up, you spot the train rumbling down the tracks towards the station, a billow of smoke tracing along the night sky, covering the stars.
  55. >Unable to stop yourself, you feel a bubble of excitement brew inside of you as a grin splits your face.
  56. >Giving Gloom Wing a quick pat and hug, you stand, unable to stay sitting on your case as you approach the platform and watch the train roll in.
  57. >With the train rumbling down the tracks and your excitement bursting like smoke from the train, you have to stop yourself from pacing.
  58. >Finally! A chance to have a real adventure!
  59. >Feeling light as a feather, you quickly return to Gloom Wing, grin still painting your features as you grab her, pulling her up against your chest.
  60. “Looks like our ride is here, huh Gloomie?”
  61. >Gloom Wing squeaks as you grab her turning her head to face you with a disheveled smile.
  62. >”You really are excited, huh?”
  63. “Can you really blame me? You have to admit this is at least a little exciting.”
  64. >Soon enough, the train screeches to a halt, a wave of steam and noise rolling over you both, chasing away the chilly night air and shattering the silence.
  65. >With the train stopped, the doors slide open and what few ponies riding the train this late quickly exit, eager to return to friends and family, leaving just you and Gloom Wing left at the station with a few others, dotted along the platform.
  66. >Emerging after the last few have left comes a burly earth stallion dressed in a bright red vest and hat with showy gold trim.
  67. >With one smooth motion he grabs a bell from his vest and begins ringing it gently, sending the sound out across the station.
  68. >”All aboard! Next stop Fillydelphia!”
  69. >Hoisting up your belongings you spare a quick glance and Gloom Wing before making your way over to door and slipping inside.
  70. >Stepping into the train, your eyes adjust to the dimly lit cabin as beams of moonlight stream in and highlight the empty seats with a silvery glow.
  71. >Hoisting your suitcase up, you make towards a window seat, giving you a view of the landscape rolling down the mountainside.
  72. >Mesmerized with the few, you soak in the view of the landscape, burning it into your memory until the sound of hooves stirs you from your reverie.
  73. >Turning your head, you see Gloom Wing trotting over with her luggage, her eyes shining in the dim light.
  74. >As she approaches you grab her luggage, storing it up above with your own since it’s easily within arms reach for you.
  75. >With a quick hop Gloom Wing gets on the cushioned seats next to you, rustling her wings once before leaning back into the seat.
  76. >”Well, atleast we got some nice seats. Honestly with how we were sent off I thought we’d be with the rest of the luggage... Or shovelling the coal.”
  77. “Well... That’s probably Luna’s doing. I think she liked us keeping things lively at night.”
  78. >Gloom Wing blushes and turns her head away, her wings fluttering lightly.
  79. >”I really hope Luna doesn’t see me as a jester instead of a guard.”
  80. >You place a hand on her shoulder, giving it a light pat and squeeze.
  81. “Of course not, we may have got into trouble, but where we are going really is important, even if it is your parents.”
  82. >Gloom Wing stiffens when you mention her parents and lets out another huff, her irritation from earlier coming back.
  83. >”Yea, of course not. After all they’ve had guards this whole time.”
  84. >Turning her head, Gloom Wing gives you a flat stare, her brow creased and lips pursed.
  85. >”They just wanted to get rid of us. We didn’t do anything wrong.”
  86. “It’s not all bad, though. We still have our jobs, we still get to be together, and I get to travel.”
  87. >Gloom Wing huffs and lets her head fall onto your arm, closing her eyes, the tension in her body and posture slowly melting away.
  88. >You hold Gloom Wing as time ticks by, the only sound the distant sound of hooves and luggage moving about other parts of train until a whistle pierces the night once more.
  89. >Gloom Wing’s ears flick at the sound as she shifts, disturbing her and causing her to finally stir.
  90. >She lets out another sigh before looking up at you, her eyes meeting yours and holding your gaze before she flicks them towards the floor and away from you.
  91. >”I’m sorry, Anon.”
  92. >Gloom Wing fidgets, turning her head farther from you as her wings twitch and resettle on her sides.
  93. >”It’s my fault you are being forced to leave, even if you did want to travel I’m sure it wasn’t with somepony who causes so much trouble.”
  94. >Ah, she’s feeling guilty about this whole thing, too.
  95. >Well, your life was perfectly average before she came into it, as average as it could be in a new world, anyway.
  96. >However, looking back... You were also perfectly bored.
  97. >Perfectly bored in a world of magic and adventure! Ludacris!
  98. >You can’t fight the facts, though. All you did was wake-up, go to your job, pay your bills, eat and sleep.
  99. >Ever since you arrived in this world you’ve been more or less just going through the motions of living after having one life torn from you.
  100. >’Why bother? afterall, if I can be forced from one life to another, why make another just to have it ripped away again’
  101. >You may have gotten used to this world from the time you’ve lived here, but despite your wonder, you’ve held a grudge against it for taking you from what you did have.
  102. >Still, you’ve made friends here, and memories too.
  103. >Most prized among them being the softly sniffling mare beside you. After all, she waltzed right into your little pity party and crashed it.
  104. >Every day since you’ve met her has been memorable and fun, even if life got a bit more complicated.
  105. >No, Gloom Wing has nothing to be sorry for, you decide.
  106. >moving your hand up you bring it to her chin, gently turning her head around towards yours.
  107. >”Anon, what ar...-eep!”
  108. >You cut her off by pressing her lips to yours.
  109. >The mistiness of her eyes is cleared by a flash of surprise before they slowly close, relishing the moment and pressing her lips firmly to yours.
  110. >Gently you oblige and hold the kiss with her, letting yourself fall entirely into the tender moment with Gloom Wing.
  111. >No, with the mare you’ve come to love.
  112. >When the moment ends, the landscape is rolling past you, the moonlit touched forest swaying with the chill air of the night as the train steadily rolls by.
  113. >The rest of the world seems just like that window at the moment. Separated from what matters at this moment.
  114. >Without a word, you bring Gloom Wing to you, holding her against your chest and lean on her as she presses back into you.
  115. >Gently rocked by the train, and her worries forgotten, Gloom Wing seems to drift off, her quiet breathing slowly lulling you to sleep as well.
  116. >You Idly wonder when the train started moving during all of this.
  117. >Not that it matters.
