background : joorin is the youngest daughter in her family, with an older brother and enough cousins where she’s always been a little bit tough and tomboyish. so her mother put her in ballet to try and get her to be more elegant, which worked to a certain extent, she loved ballet- but she also loved hip hop. due to the tumultuous political climate in hong kong, joorin and a couple friends started the street dance team as a way to express themselves. they don’t compete, but their performances often go viral online. she was interested in auditioning to u-topia because of all the international trainees, but was surprised to be expected because she doesn’t necessarily fit the aegyo centric female idol stereotype. her friends convinced her to join the show because even if she didn’t make it to the final, it was still an opportunity to share what she loves with a bigger audience.
