  1. Speedrunning is pretty neat. Last night I was feeling pretty down about stuff, and I found myself looking back and watching a bunch of my old vods. There were a lot of freaking hilarious and awesome moments that happened because of this hobby. I met a lot of cool people and did a lot of cool things. idk if there's any other niche hobby that would let me showcase something in front of hundreds of thousands of people and raise money for charity. idk if there's any other niche hobby that lets you be so friendly and collaborative while still being a competitive thing. idk if there's any other niche hobby that makes you time to see which spouse is the fastest to marry so you can optimally skip a cutscene. It's pretty freakin great.

  3. It's a hobby that I've put a lot of time into and care deeply about. So, obviously, there's going to be bad parts. That's ok, that happens with everything. Getting mad is understandable, and shouldn't be belittled with messages like "lol its just a game idiot" and the like. I've put 600 hours into this, I'm pretty fucking aware it's just a game thanks.

  5. But I've been getting mad too often. When you're in the thick of PB grinding it can be hard to remember all the good that's happened if all you see is red splits. It was nice to go back and remind myself about all the cool shit that's happened from this. I need to stop taking every little bad thing and mean word so personally and just have fun playing video games again.

  7. So, with that in mind, I have some short term goals to help myself
  8. - Learn a new game this week. I've watched the run and taken notes but haven't played through it yet. Will stream it once I'm familiar with it.
  9. - Let's play Mirror's Edge to see if I'd want to run it at all.
  10. - Start up Saltbox again. This was a really good out for any frustrations I had. For anyone unfamiliar, this was a small series of podcasts I did with different people a year ago to talk about stuff in speedrunning and gaming in general. I'll be posting all the old episodes on my youtube after this.
  11. - Improve my AC and AMQ times. AC WR is still free but I need to focus on practice rather than just grinding out runs forever.
  12. - Actually contribute to Run Invalid. I've only done small contributions in the past but I'm feeling better about this one.
