  1. The demon instantly knew he had made a mistake
  2. in writing off the guns as useless tools made by human
  3. hands. Just before the bullets tore through it, he knew his
  4. black armor would prove useless. The impacts shattered
  5. the suit, creating a network of spidery cracks across its
  6. surface.
  7. “Impossible!” Gilver howled.
  8. The cracks began to glow.
  9. “Jackpot!” spat Dante.
  10. “But you've lost! I've wo–ugh... Argh!”
  11. Gilver's armor exploded. The bullets chewed
  12. away at his exposed body, gouging black holes in his
  13. flesh. And then Gilver saw it clearly. Something within
  14. the bullets themselves.
  15. He saw a flash of Goldstein's leathery face – of
  16. Grue's angry expression. An unnatural fear iced over his
  17. mind. Something inside him blew apart, smashing his
  18. body into the ceiling. He fell violently back to the
  19. ground.
  20. The bullets continued on beyond him, punching
  21. through the demonic world's wall.
  22. Gilver's head lolled uselessly. Black fluid gushed
  23. from his wounds. The coruscating remains of his armor
  24. glittered in pieces on the floor around him.
