Background: When Ran was barely one years old, her father left her and her mother for reasons unknown, other than maybe that they constantly fought over money. After he left, her mother didn't have any reason to stay in Japan so she moved back to her home, South Korea, with Ran. They lived a financially stable life but Ran was always extremely curious of her father. Her mother refused to ever talk about him, but she did let Ran keep one part of him: his last name. Ran always had a curiosity about Japanese culture as well, since she never was exposed to it. In school, she didn't have many friends because everyone thought she was crazy when she became extremely emotional and reckless at some times and was a robot at other times. Ran constantly got into trouble from talking back and not paying attention in class when she was in her own world.
