Stremio Companion is a browser extension that helps users quickly open movies and TV shows in Stremio from Google Search results and any website. This privacy policy explains how we handle user data.

## Data Collection

**We do not collect any personal data.**

Stremio Companion does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any of the following:

- Personal information (name, email, address, etc.)
- Browsing history
- Search queries
- Usage analytics
- Location data
- Financial information
- Any other personally identifiable information

## Data Storage

The extension stores only the following data **locally on your device** using Chrome's built-in storage API:

- **Mode Preference:** Whether you prefer to open Stremio in the desktop app or web browser.
- **Extension Enabled State:** Whether the extension is currently enabled or disabled.

This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server.

## Third-Party Services

The extension communicates with **Cinemeta API** (`v3-cinemeta.strem.io`), a public metadata service provided by Stremio, to resolve movie and TV show titles to their corresponding IMDb identifiers.

- This request contains only the title of the content being searched.
- No personal information or user identifiers are sent.
- We do not control the Cinemeta API; please refer to Stremio's privacy policy for their data practices.

## Permissions

The extension requests the following permissions solely for functionality:

| `scripting` | Inject the Watch button into Google Search pages |
