  1. •Teller|GM> The van is quiet and dark. Plower sits in the driver's seat, Wicht and Cowl sit in the second row, Trigger Finger and Candela in the back. The passenger seat is currently vacant, though it was occupied about fifteen minutes ago by their leader, Cassette.
  2. 10:56 AM <•Teller|GM> While she does recon at the docks, they're parked two blocks away, waiting. Wicht smacks his bat into his palm repeatedly as he waits, adjusting his grip each time. A lightweight staff lays across Candela's lap. It feels unfamiliar in her hands.
  3. 10:56 AM <•Teller|GM> "How's everyone doing?" Plower asks, glancing into the rearview mirror. There's an excitement at the edge of his voice, like an athlete before game time, but he does his best to sound casual. "Cowl? Wicht? You guys ready to roll?" ||
  4. 10:57 AM <•Teller|GM> ((Anyone can start, but we'll continue in that order once it's set. We'll use ... to say when we're typing.))
  5. 10:57 AM <Teruzi|Caul> ...
  6. 10:59 AM <Teruzi|Caul> Alex begins to talk, but stops. Not Alex, not Alex. Caul, he was Caul now. Except not really? He was Cowl now. Right. He belatedly realizes that he moved as if he was going to answer, but didn't say anything. Alex cringes inwardly as he gives Plower a thumbs-up. "Yeah." He mutters, trying to make his voice a bit higher.||
  7. 11:02 AM <Dol|Candela> Candela remains quiet, not wanting to interrupt Wicht's turn to talk. She was more than a little bit nervous, and wanted to take every opportunity she could get to not talk about it. So she sits, quietly looking at her staff and hoping that the medical reference isn't too obtuse.
  8. 11:02 AM <Dol|Candela> ||
  9. 11:03 AM <•Teller|GM> ...
  10. 11:12 AM <•Teller|GM> "Yeah," Wicht says. He experimentally mimes swinging his bat, but there's little room for him to actually work with in the vehicle.
  11. 11:12 AM <•Teller|GM> "Incoming." Cassette's voice comes over their earpieces. A second later the passenger side door is opened and she slips inside quietly. Her bright costume stands out against the black night outside.
  12. 11:12 AM <•Teller|GM> "How'd it look?" Trigger Finger asks.
  13. 11:12 AM <•Teller|GM> "He's there," Cassette says, her voice a little breathless. "Main office building, third floor. No sign of Allele or other capes. Seven or more armed guards - some stationary, others patrolling." ||
  14. 11:15 AM <Teruzi|Caul> ...
  15. 11:17 AM <Teruzi|Caul> Armed guards? Holy shit. Caul feels his pulse quickening. Something in his head giving way to thoughts of what to do. Fleeting fantasies of using his power on the guards, making them pay for-
  16. 11:18 AM <Teruzi|Caul> Making them pay for what? Being armed? Yeah, that seemed fair.
  17. 11:19 AM <Teruzi|Caul> Caul tilts his head slightly at Cassette before speaking slowly. "I c-can puh-probably climb from t-the outside." He comments, his voice now a bit more deep than usual. "T-thought I d-don't think that's useful."||
  18. 11:20 AM <Dol|Candela> Helen stays quiet and tries not to let her nerves get the best of her. Seachange only brought unpowered people, and he was about to go up against six capes? This can't end well. What was he doing?
  19. 11:20 AM <Dol|Candela> ||
  20. 11:21 AM <•Teller|GM> ...
  21. 11:32 AM <•Teller|GM> "You'll be more useful with me," Cassette says. She holds out her hand and a small hologram of a building appears. With her other, she begins pointing. "Cowl, Wicht, and I will come in on the ground from the left. We'll deal with the majority of the guards."
  22. 11:32 AM <•Teller|GM> "Candela will fly Plower in from the right and help him enter the third floor through one of the windows. Trigger Finger will be sealing off various exits, then meet up with Candela and cover the air near the building."
  23. 11:32 AM <•Teller|GM> She looks at Trigger Finger and Candela. Her expression and tone are uncharacteristically serious. "We're going to try to pen him in, but if Seachange manages to escape the building before Plower captures him we need you two to stay on him. Don't let him stop, and don't let him out of your sight." ||
  24. 11:35 AM <Teruzi|Caul> ...
  25. 11:35 AM <Teruzi|Caul> Right. He could goop some guards nothing serious. Caul nods along as Cassette speaks. Maybe he could get one of the guards to shoot another. That would be sick.||
  26. 11:37 AM <Dol|Candela> ...
  27. 11:38 AM <Dol|Candela> ((Oh, whoops. Last post had Helen instead of Candela.))
  28. 11:39 AM <Dol|Candela> Candela nods in acknowledgment, but remains just as worried. The plan sounded solid, and she'd practiced throwing Plower at things. It would probably be too suspicious to throw him through the wrong thing. She couldn't let him go later, either, since Trigger Finger would be in the skies.
  29. 11:40 AM <Dol|Candela> What a mess. Hopefully she wouldn't end up dry heaving under Seachange's power this time.
  30. 11:40 AM <Dol|Candela> ||
  31. 11:40 AM <•Teller|GM> ...
  32. 11:41 AM <Dol|Candela> ((Seachange instead of him*))
  33. 11:47 AM <•Teller|GM> "Use your comms," Plower says. "Don't get so caught up in the fight that you forget to keep everyone updated on what's going on. Give people a heads up if something's coming their way."
  34. 11:47 AM <•Teller|GM> "Me, Cassette, and Trigger Finger have been here before. Listen up if we say something."
  35. 11:47 AM <•Teller|GM> He gives them all a smile. "Let's get this guy."
  36. 11:47 AM <•Teller|GM> "Candela and Trigger Finger, hang back here with Plower for a few minutes," Cassette instructs. "We don't want your respective glows to give us away. We'll give you a signal when you can catch up."
  37. 11:47 AM <•Teller|GM> She steps back outside, gesturing for Wicht and Cowl to follow. ||
  38. 11:55 AM <Teruzi|Caul> Caul steps out lightly, somewhat scared and very excited. He can almost feel his power getting ready. He closes his fists, before letting them open once more. He does this a couple of times. Then he gives Plower and the others a quick nod before turning towards Casette. And incidentally,Witch.||
  39. 11:56 AM Faust|Gravitas → Faustus
  40. 11:56 AM <Dol|Candela> Candela does as was asked of her, hanging back with Plower and Trigger Finger. The anticipation of this mess was really starting to get to her. Good grief, this is worse than her first surgery. She starts focusing on her breathing, trying to ensure she can remain calm during this.
  41. 11:56 AM <Dol|Candela> ||
  42. 12:00 PM <•Teller|GM> ((Okay, Dol|Candela will be in #WDSicolBend2 now. Give me a few minutes for the next posts, please.))
  43. 12:01 PM <Dol|Candela> ((Want me to leave here?))
  44. 12:02 PM <•Teller|GM> ((Sure.))
  45. 12:02 PM → iridium248 joined ← Dol|Candela left
  46. 12:15 PM <•Teller|GM> "Stay close to me," Cassette instructs. The night air is cool. They had chosen an out of the way street to park on, so nobody sees as they head towards the docks. "You won't be able to trust your eyes once the fighting starts, so pay close attention to what I say on your earpieces."
  47. 12:15 PM <•Teller|GM> "It's okay if I get shot," Wicht says to Cowl. He sets the bat across his shoulders. "My ghost mode can handle it."
  48. 12:15 PM <•Teller|GM> "It's not /okay/," Cassette says, then adds, "It's preferable to anyone else getting shot, but try to avoid it." ||
  49. 12:17 PM <•Teller|GM> ((*preferable to either of us))
  50. 12:17 PM <Teruzi|Caul> "W-well, I'm guh-glad you're vuh-volunteering." Caul says to Wicht. Wait no, dangit. He was not supposed to be Caul right now.
  51. 12:17 PM Teruzi|Caul → Teruzi|Cowl
  52. 12:18 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> He was part of the team now. Cowl nods at Cassette, as he keeps up with her. He felt a little bit better knowing Wicht could take a bullet.||

  54. 12:22 PM <•Teller|GM> ...
  55. 12:24 PM <•Teller|GM> "Remember, we're heroes. Containment and restraint only to start," Cassette reminds them. "If people start shooting at you, hit them only as hard as you need to to make them stop. Nobody dies."
  56. 12:24 PM <•Teller|GM> When they reach the end of the block, Cassette holds out one hand to each of them. "Grab on. Stealth time." ||
  57. 12:27 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> Cowl wants to say a lot of thing right now. He wants to babble. He's half sad, half happy that his stutter keeps him from talking. No one would want to hear him babble. Cowl wants to let Cassette know that he could make the guards shoot each other, make them sit on their knees. Could he use his power for containment only? Could he make the guards tackle each other?
  58. 12:27 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> A thousand more sentences swirl in his head. But Cowl just nods, taking the hand that is given to him. Containment only, make them do stupid poses. Unless they start shooting.||

  61. 12:33 PM <•Teller|GM> Wicht takes the other hand. Suddenly they're both in darkness, black and absolute.
  62. 12:33 PM <•Teller|GM> "Follow me," Cassette says quietly. She tugs on Cowl's hand to lead him forward. It feels like there's something around his calves that resists slightly as he steps, like a thin sheet of water. "I'll let you know when we're there, okay?" ||
  63. 12:38 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> Cowl opts not to say anything, instead squeezing Cassette's hand, hoping she understands. It would look really dumb if a shadow stuttered. Like some sort of discount ghost. No, Cowl would rather be quiet, thank you very much.||
  64. 12:40 PM <•Teller|GM> ...
  65. 12:43 PM <•Teller|GM> They continue moving. It's like being in his own personal citywide blackout, except there's not even the stars. He can feel the street under his feet, hear the steps of Cassette and Wicht as they walk next to him.
  66. 12:43 PM <•Teller|GM> "Hey, Cowl. I bet I'll take out more guards than you," Wicht says.
  67. 12:43 PM <•Teller|GM> "Shh. No talking." There's a pause. "No betting, either." ||
  68. 12:47 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> "I b-bet I d-don't break any nuh-knees." Cowl says, against his better judgement. He liked this darkness. It was like a very detached way of existing. He had never really paid attention to how the ground feels under his feet, how the wind blows past him. He was absolutely going to down more guards than Wicht now too. He had to.||
  69. 12:55 PM <•Teller|GM> "Funny. Shush," Cassette whispers. She comes to a stop and places Cowl's hand against something metal. "Stay here."
  70. 12:55 PM <•Teller|GM> "We're here. We'll wait for you to catch up before we go," she says quietly. She must be talking into her earpiece. Then, to Cowl and Wicht, she says, "Be ready to go on my signal."
  71. 12:55 PM <•Teller|GM> Through his earpiece, Cowl hears a barely audible whisper. "Bet I don't get arrested by the PRT." ||
  72. 12:57 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> Well, that was just uncalled for.
  73. 12:59 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> Fine. Try double hard in winning the little contest. Maybe goop someone and make them jump Wicht, make him break some knees. That would show him!
  74. 12:59 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> It would also probably very painful for the guard. Maybe that idea wasn't great.
  75. 1:00 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> Cowl pushes one of his hands against the metal, getting ready to do- Well, whatever he can. He slowly lets goop fill his free hand.||

  78. 1:05 PM <•Teller|GM> Goo leaps into his hand with a speed that surprises him. Cowl feels excitement from the thing at the edge of his thoughts. This is what he's been waiting for, right? He can make up for the last fight - that's what it feels like his power is telling him, anyway. ||
  79. 1:07 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> Yeah last time his power seemed pretty sure that it was going to go great and a poor innocent car got peed on. Cowl feels a knot in his stomach, his frustration lurking behind his cheery thoughts. Assholes hurting Ms. Hamasaki. Cowl grits his teeth as he gets ready. He honestly felt like hurting someone today.||

  86. 1:47 PM <•Teller|GM> Suddenly, voices sound out. Angry voices. Cowl feels Cassette's hand on his arm. "Wait for it..."
  87. 1:47 PM <•Teller|GM> "Wait..."
  88. 1:47 PM <•Teller|GM> "Now!"
  89. 1:47 PM <•Teller|GM> The darkness vanishes. It's replaced suddenly by the familiar scene of the docks - his hand is leaning up against a shipping container, and in front of him is a stretch of open asphalt. A bright red streak zips across the sky in front of him, twin beams of red light stabbing out and leaving a trail of glowing walls in their wake.
  90. 1:47 PM <•Teller|GM> Trigger Finger's heat areas, right. Not safe to touch. The walls form a sort of hourglass, an open ended funnel with the wide end leading to the front of the building and the small end facing towards them.
  91. 1:47 PM <•Teller|GM> "Bottleneck!" Cassette calls, pointing.

  98. 1:55 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> Cowl follows Cassette's lead, wondering briefly if he should goop the floor. He decides against it, since he can't actually know where Wicht is at.||
  99. 2:02 PM <•Teller|GM> ...
  100. 2:10 PM <•Teller|GM> Cowl finds himself suddenly moving through a crowd of people. Young and old, smiling and milling past each other. All dressed for colder weather. It's a jarring contrast to the scene around him. They feel like water or slightly thicker air as he passes through them.
  101. 2:10 PM <•Teller|GM> "Use them for cover," Cassette says through his earpiece. She ducks low and disappears into the crowd. A man in a suit steps through the narrow passage formed between Trigger Finger's walls, handgun out but looking unsure of who to shoot at. ||
  102. 2:15 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> Ooh, that's a goop. Cowl throws his goop directly at the mans face, hoping to keep him from making a sound while Wicht ... breaks the man's arms or something. As soon as he throws his goop he hides behind another illusion, letting his other hand fill with goop.||

  117. 2:26 PM <•Teller|GM> The goop hits the man in the face. He takes a step in the wrong direction and gives a muffled scream as he intersects the glowing red wall and his arm catches on fire. He begins slapping it angrily with his other hand, beating it out.
  118. 2:26 PM <•Teller|GM> A gunshot rings out. A second man has stepped forward to shoot at Cowl, but he's back within the crowd by now. Cassette seems to materialize out of nowhere to kick the man backward, where his head collides with the barely visible outline of a baseball bat. Both Cassette and the bat vanish again, the former ducking into the crowd and the latter disappearing

  134. 2:38 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> Cowl just decides to listen to Cassette. Head down, using the illusions for cover seems like a futile thing to do with the bullets whizzing all over the place, but Cowl does it anyways. At least they're not shooting at him. 192. 3:20 PM <•Teller|GM> "Yeah, yeah, no knees." More gunshots sound. There's a bright flash of light as one hits home. Wicht swings his bat into one of them, sending them flying backwards. It looks like the guard is glowing now, too, and he's struggling to get up off of the ground. ||
  193. 3:24 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> Cowl briefly wonders what would happen if he just ordered the gooped guard to walk straight through the wall. The morbid idea rattles in his brain while he finishes gooping the other guard. Cowl wanted to get all these bozos under control and in the ground. But right now he needs some cover.

  196. 3:33 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> The kneeling guard will have to do, Cowl supposes. He leaves a very big orb of his goop behind the unconscious guard, heading to cover behind the kneeling guard. 377. 5:33 PM <Dol|Candela> Candela does her best to ignore Seachange, instead trying to get to Plower and see how wounded he was. Seachange still had to get out of this, and Candela had no idea how she was going to do that.
  378. 5:33 PM <Dol|Candela> ||
  379. 5:33 PM <•Teller|GM> ((*Somehow, she knew she'd end up back in Seachange's water. Bad memories of the last time threaten to surface, but she pushes them away. It helps that her field seems to be keeping out his water this time.))
  380. 5:34 PM <•Teller|GM> ...
  381. 5:37 PM <•Teller|GM> Trigger Finger grips Seachange's arm. "Try to escape and I'll use my power."
  382. 5:37 PM <•Teller|GM> Plower appears to have several long cuts down his body. Some are knife wounds, while others look like they were caused by some manner of animal. None of them look pretty.
  383. 5:37 PM <•Teller|GM> "I'll be fine, Candela. Just get him in custody," Plower says. ||

  385. 5:40 PM <•Teller|GM> "Oh, I'll come quietly," Seachange says, with a nobility in his voice that rings false. "Take care of your teammate, Candela. I wouldn't want this...ill-advised venture to have an casualties." ||
  386. 5:40 PM <•Teller|GM> ((*any))
  387. 5:41 PM <Dol|Candela> Candela frowns at that, but does her best to mimick Trigger Finger. She really didn't want to talk to Seachange again. This whole mess could've been avoided if he hadn't so thoroughly freaked her out the last time.
  388. 5:42 PM <Dol|Candela> That in mind, she doesn't say anything.
  389. 5:42 PM <Dol|Candela> ||
  390. 5:43 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> "I c-can goop his mouth." Cowl says, still riding a high from feeling all those alien sensations in his mind. "And his hands." He adds quickly, to come off less creepy. It doesn't really work.||

  393. 5:47 PM <•Teller|GM> Plower releases Seachange, and the four parahumans drift towards the ground. Plower does so with much less vigor than the other three. When they touch the ground Seachange deactivates his power, and Plower staggers from the sudden weight. Cassette begins walking towards him. Wicht cautiously follows, bat at the ready.
  394. 5:47 PM <•Teller|GM> "Do it, Cowl," Cassette says. "Cover him. Careful of Trigger Finger and Candela."
  395. 5:47 PM <•Teller|GM> "Is there another option?" Seachange asks, distaste in his voice. "If you recall, I already said that I'd come quietly." ||
  396. 5:47 PM <Dol|Candela> ...
  397. 5:48 PM <Dol|Candela> Candela remains quiet, thinking furiously about how to get out of this. Plower was far faster than she had really expected him to be.
  398. 5:48 PM <Dol|Candela> ||
  399. 5:50 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> "Yuh-you'll be extra q-quiet nuh-now." Cowl says, letting a mid-sized orb of goop grow before lobbing pressing it against Seachange.||

  401. 5:52 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> ((*Seachange's mouth.))
  402. 5:53 PM <•Teller|GM> Wicht laughs at the quip. The goo spreads, covering Seachange's face. As predicted, the man falls silent. Candela feels him stiffen beneath her grip.
  403. 5:53 PM <•Teller|GM> Cassette steps forward, taking hold of Seachange's arm. "Candela, can you look at Plower?" ||
  404. 5:54 PM Thalia → Thaliaway
  405. 5:56 PM <Dol|Candela> "Yeah," Candela replies, somewhat absently. She starts to turn around, then adds, "I'm worried. This doesn't feel right, and maybe we're doing something stupid. Too many things about this don't make sense."
  406. 5:56 PM <Dol|Candela> Then she turns and starts assessing Plower's wounds and how best to treat them.

  408. 5:59 PM <•Teller|GM> ...
  409. 6:05 PM <•Teller|GM> He needs the bleeding to be stopped very soon, that's obvious at a quick glance. That's the short term. In the long term, he'll need some disinfecting, bandaging, stitches for some of the larger cuts, and rest.
  410. 6:05 PM <•Teller|GM> "We got him. That's what's important." Trigger Finger says. "I don't think that jailing a villain can be but so stupid."
  411. 6:05 PM <•Teller|GM> "Our fumble with the window-" Plower says, looking at Candela. "No, she's right. I took too long to get upstairs. He should have left earlier."
  412. 6:05 PM <•Teller|GM> "I don't want to say he let me capture him, because he sure as heck didn't make it easy....but either he made a stupid timing mistake, or he didn't try as hard as he could have to get away." ||
  413. 6:07 PM <Dol|Candela> "Maybe we should let him talk?" Candela asks, even though she hated saying it. None of what was happening made sense, and that was never a good thing. From her experience, you needed to know what was actually wrong before you started cutting into things to try and fix them.
  414. 6:08 PM <Dol|Candela> That in mind, she gets to work on patching up Plower. She'd done this often enough, she could talk and work.
  415. 6:08 PM <Dol|Candela> ||
  416. 6:09 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> Cowl focuses on the task at hand, layering a rather generous amount of goop on Seachange's hands. "Don't luh-let that t-touch you." Cowl says to no one in particular as he watches the goop spread slowly. He adds enough of the goop to ensure that he could control Seachange with one more hit.

  418. 6:10 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> "W-wasting time just muh-means puh-people will g-get here to s-stop us." Cowl says with a voice higher than normal, thinking of the statuesque ladies that arrested him.
  419. 6:11 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> "S-some of them n-need help t-too." Cowl says, making the more weak of his thralls to raise a hand before returning it to the back of their necks.
  420. 6:12 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> "My g-goop fuh-fades away after hours." Cowl says with a pitch a bit higher, as his words flow more naturally. "He can talk in c-cell just as w-well."||

  428. 6:19 PM <•Teller|GM> "There's a bear inside," Plower adds. "Allele's thing."
  429. 6:19 PM <•Teller|GM> "...seems like a thing to mention," Wicht says.
  430. 6:19 PM <•Teller|GM> "No Allele, though, and it's chained up," Plower finishes, managing to convey the fact that he's giving Wicht a look even through his visor. Candela works quickly and skillfully to patch up his wounds. He'll need some more attention once they're back at the Zenith HQ, but he'll definitely make it.
  431. 6:19 PM <•Teller|GM> He work is good enough that it's now more of a question of whether /she'll/ make it back to the HQ, rather than him. ||

  433. 6:23 PM <Dol|Candela> While typically Candela would perk up at the news of the bear, as it meant that Logan, for whom she was still concerned, was nearby, right now she just didn't have it in her. Everything had gone wrong. Seachange apparently let himself get captured, almost as if just to spite her.
  434. 6:23 PM <Dol|Candela> "I'm just worried that this is a trap, somehow," she quietly says, going right back to worrying.

  440. 6:29 PM <•Teller|GM> Cassette quickly lets go of Seachange as the goop settles over his form. Cowl can feel his heartbeat, and he realizes that the man is more relaxed than anyone he's ever gooped before. It's a little offputting.
  441. 6:29 PM <•Teller|GM> Cassette moves over to Candela and touches her arm lightly, making sure not to disturb her medical work. "Whatever he's planning, we'll deal with it, Candela," she says soothingly. Louder, she adds, "Everyone did a great job tonight." ||
  442. 6:30 PM <Dol|Candela> ...
  443. 6:35 PM <Dol|Candela> "I don't think this is going to be ending well," Candela replies, trying to keep her voice quiet. "It's too convenient, too weird, none of it makes sense. If Seachange was trying to get captured, maybe it's the wrong thing to do?"
  444. 6:35 PM <Dol|Candela> She looks up at Cassette, hoping that the other woman would pick up on how very thoroughly she wanted to avoid bringing Seachange in today. Even without the favor, this whole situation was too strange, too suspicious. She'd thrown a man into a wall, twice, and Seachange still somehow failed to open a window until Plower was right on top of him.
  445. 6:35 PM <Dol|Candela> Idly she notices that Cassette was being touchy again, and that Candela was practically used to it at this point. She wasn't really sure when that had happened.

  453. 6:46 PM <•Teller|GM> That gets a small reaction from Seachange, at least. Nobody can remain calm when their limbs are moving against their will.
  454. 6:46 PM <•Teller|GM> "We talked about how you're going to use your power, Cowl. Contain him, don't puppet him," Cassette admonishes. She looks at Candela, and softens her voice. Cassette can surely see how stressful this is for her, but she'd never be able to guess /why/. "The other option is to let him go, and we're not going to do that. He's a villain, which means that we're
  455. 6:46 PM <•Teller|GM> going to bring him in. What he wants or doesn't want isn't a factor. If he planned this, we'll figure out why and make him regret it."
  456. 6:46 PM <•Teller|GM> "But the first step in taking control of the situation is bringing him in. We have to get moving."

"If y-you guh-give me t-time in t-the van m-maybe I can m-make sense of it."
  461. 6:51 PM <Teruzi|Cowl> Subtly, he makes Seachange tense his legs. Not hard enough for anyone to notice, but hard enough that Seachange can get the message. Seachange might have all the plans in the world, but right now?
