- The bottle shattered as the grenadier batted it away. He reeled backwards, one arm of his greatcoat alight. Two comrades fell upon him and efficiently swiped out the flames. Another two rushed the water tank, firing, and Ven Bruin heard a squeal of terror, followed by a strangulated moan.
- The grenadier who had deflected the promethium bomb was unhurt, protected by his armour and faceplate.
