  2. baseline: prof bonus more like No. use stats instead
  3. GENERAL VARIANT THING: i'm going to be *selectively* looking through the variant spell lists. some of them will get added, some of them won't - 5.5b just includes full spell lists for each class, so, y'know.
  4. --- Artificer ---
  5. Armorer: Keeping the new armor stuff (light and medium armor work with it), can pick leatherworker's instead of smith's. Rest is unchanged from base 5.5b.
  6. VARIANTS: Firearm prof will be added as a variant rule since like, sure.
  7. --- Barbarian ---
  8. Beast: Bite gives temp hp instead of heals (value of temp hp is like, con mod prolly). Claws specifically use offhand rules from 5.5B, which actually doesn't change very much here, except you can't use a shield + claws, nor can you do the weird quadruple attacks thing that claws are able to do. Change Infectious Fury like, entirely, because i just fucking hate it - maybe keep the reaction attack part, but definitely not the psychic, though tbh i just hate it so much.
  9. Wild Magic: bolstering magic uses a d4 BECAUSE WHAT THE FUCK, remove the spell slot option *entirely*
  10. VARIANTS: not a big fan of primal knowledge; instinctive pounce i *might* keep?
  11. --- Bard ---
  12. Creation: Animating Performance always costs a slot, Creative Crescendo doesn't lose the gp restriction. Maybe *increase* how much it goes up to, but removing it entirely just sounds like it's asking for a DM to die lol
  13. VARIANTS: Magical Inspiration is something i don't think base bard should have - it reminds me a bit of how Valor gets combat inspiration as a thing to add bonus to weapon attacks, but, you know, as a subclass thing? And Magical Inspiration is just that but kinda better lol. I don't think I'll add Bardic Versatility.
  14. --- Cleric ---
  15. Peace: Balm of Peace has something to prevent it from being so much short rest healing. replace it entirely??? make it temp hp??? i dunno. 6th level should ignore your resistance/immunity, like redemption does, then the 17th level is like "you can resist that shit from this feature but sitll no immunity chief"
  16. Twilight: FUCK YOU DIE I'M GONNA WRITE MY OWN DARKNESS DOMAIN AHDOIASHJDFKADJKAHJK
  17. VARIANTS: Harness Divine Power will probably not exist. Like, it might be a decent thing to give a subclass? But not as a base thing. Cantrip Versatility i'm not a huge fan of since i think that's moreso something that a DM and a player should just discuss.
  18. --- Druid ---
  19. Stars: No bonus guiding bolt uses, why does it have these. gbolt freely prepped is fine but not the bonus uses for no reason. Cosmic Omen i'm not really sure how i'll do it, but it'll mostly depend on how i end up doing bard i suppose. Full of Stars i don't really like because this is a very caster-y druid and then this is just like not caster-y at all, but i don't HATE it
  20. Wildfire: replace plant growth with fireball because i will burn god to the ground. that's it, wildfire is solid
  21. VARIANTS: Wild Companion is good, i'll keep that. No cantrip vers.
  22. --- Fighter ---
  23. Psi Warrior: no
  24. Rune Knight: no more giantess fetish shit just make it focus more on runes. look at xan's lost notes + runescribe, make it kind of like a 1/3 artificer - not literally with arti spells, but like, give it rune-based infusions, since that sounds cool.
  25. VARIANTS: new styles are all pretty good - might not include Interception though, i think i'll like, buff protection and make it so that it's like "oh even if the fucker hits the damage is REDUCED". no to martial versatility for same as cantrip.
  26. --- Monk ---
  27. Astral Self: some fucking how, nothing
  28. Mercy: you can only use the healing feature monk level times per long rest - it still costs ki, this is mostly just to reduce out of combat spamming of it. i'm not entirely sure what i'll do about healing flurry, but i was thinking maybe i'd do something like "if you use healing AND hurting on your flurry.... you get a cOOL EFFECT, IT'S LIKE YIN AND YANG BROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO". also the 6th's auto poison should have a save; it makes sense to not have a save with default monk, since stunning strike works how it does there, but in 5.5b stunning strike's nerf means that this feature doesn't need to try and "compete". 17th level has no dies to the "murder" theme, just the "Heal" theme, so, give something there for murdering
  29. VARIANTS: dedicated weapon more like DEADicated weapon because i'm not including it. Ki-Fueled Attack i will keep because i think that's good, makes it so that something like Four Elements can punch a nerd; just needs some wording changed to work with the TWF changes in 5.5b. Quickened Healing can die. Focused Aim can die.
  30. --- Paladin ---
  31. Watchers: remove the capstone's whole "spend a slot to use it again", make the aura use chamod as a bonus to ini. this is a surprisingly solid sub
  32. VARIANTS: i don't like blessed warrior being a fighting style. i don't actually have much issue with ranger and paladin getting cantrps at base but i think as a style it's like, a trap option. harness divine power can die, martial vers can die.
  33. --- Ranger ---
  34. Fey Wanderer: dreadful strike is giga boring so maybe make it do something more interesting lol. change the 11th *entirely*; it doesn't fit the whole "basically an extra attack but situational" niche that makes 11th level ranger sub features so fun, and also i'm removing summon fey from existence, get into the void vore hole
  35. Swarmkeeper: 15th level will probably be at will, maybe with a nerfed distance? it's like kinda just uncanny dodge with a lil teleport thrown on, it's pretty weird that it has long rest restrictions at *15th*
  36. VARIANTS: favored foe sucks lol, i'm changing ranger a lot more so no. deft explorer i kind of like but since 5.5b is changing ranger a lot more i don't want this here. styles can come with but not druidic warrior. Spellcasting Focus is fine, sure. primal awareness doesn't need to exist in 5.5b ranger, martial vers can die. nature's veil.... ehhh, i think 5.5b ranger doesn't need it.
  37. --- Rogue ---
  38. Phantom: possibly change up lore and mechanics a LITTLE bit to tie more into a "you cheated death" thing, since it's like not a rogue rn lol. wails is fine at-will if it uses your bonus action tbh. remove the "break a trinket to get another use" thing - that is not a fucking restriction, you can kill a rat to get a trinket lol. 13th level is 1/longrest, 17th level doesn't need the bonus trinket thing (because again the whole "you can get all of them back easily")
  39. Soulknife: No
  40. VARIANTS: i don't like steady aim because i think it just really encourages rogues to play lame, sit back, never interact with the environment and just stand still. i would be ok with it on like a sharpshooter rogue sub but not base.
  41. --- Sorcerer ---
  42. Both: removing that bullshit bonus spells known, what the fuck
  43. Aberrant Mind: no. no! No! fuck you! i'm not fucking revising you, you shitty subclass. I AM GOING TO GIVE SUPPORT TO *SUNKEN HERALD* FROM ABYSS AND PRETEND YOU *DO NOT EXIST*
  44. Clockwork Soul: likely swap the places of the 14th and 18th, make Clockwork Cavalcade just 1/long (no spending sorcs), then make Trance of Order 5 sorcs (no free 1/long use)
  45. VARIANTS: seeking spell i'll use sure, transmuted spell i'm sticking with 5.5b's version. sorcerous vers is bad. not a fan of magical guidance as a base feature - maybe on a sub.
  46. --- Warlock ---
  47. Fathomless: i mean obviously 5.5block does subs differently so, it'll just have the cool tentacle and some invocation shit
  48. Genie: i don't know but i kind of just hate it lol. i might just write some elemental patron to replace it? 5.5block warlocks are simple enough that it's actually not too hard to straight-up write an elemental patron for each type (air, earth, fire, water) and have them be relatively unique so like, i dunno, maybe i could do something like that lol. or maybe a dragon patron? i dunno, i hate genie
  49. VARIANTS: lol talisman is baseline 5.5b. eldritch vers is bad and does not work very well with 5.5b (and the mystic arcanum change is already in 5.5b but better lol)
  50. --- Wizard ---
  51. Bladesinging: You will remain the way that you were before, curs'd subclass of vileness. or maybe give ek's war magic shit, that would also be fine. kyle had some cool bladesinger revision so maybe that though? just, not tasha's.
  52. Scribes: i hate this subclass so much. wizard has 12 subclasses (8 schools + war + bladesong + dunamancy) so maybe i'll just not fucking bother lol
  53. VARIANTS: not a fan of cantrip formulas.
  54. --- Feats ---
  55. arti initiate: not a fan of how it's just Magic Ini But Better - in 5.5b i will likely just add arti to magic initiate
  56. chef: uhhhh it's like fine, i'll have to compare it to 5.b's
  57. crusher: i'll have to see how bludge/pierce/slash weapon stuff works in 5.5b before i decide if these are worth it
  58. eldritch adept: sure. make it work with arcane mystery somehow.
  59. fey touched: magic initiate but also it's a half-feat and also you get misty step too - likely not going to allow it in 5.5b lol. maybe if i remove the half-feat portion?
  60. fighting initiate: i'm fine with this actually. maybe it could be a half-feat? maybe??
  61. gunner: sure
  62. metamagic adept: sure. feels very necessary on sorc but sure.
  63. piercer: same as crusher
  64. poisoner: maybe? i don't, like, hate it.
  65. shadow touched: same as fey touched
  66. skill expert: lowkey i think i might remove this feat but make Prodigy not have a racial restriction, because i like prodigy more - more languages + tools is always nice!
  67. slasher: same as crusher/piercer
  68. telekinetic: yeah sure
  69. telepathic: yeah sure
