Gastrodon's great typing, above average bulk, and unique ability allow it to be a niche pick in the Doubles OU metagame. It also has access to a decent movepool, which allows to cover a variety of opposing pokemon as well as recover health and counter some specific opposing threats. However, there are a myriad of things holding Gastrodon back. It is incredibly slow, with only 39 base speed, and it's attacking power definitely leaves something to be considered. It is also worth noting that there are many other options for a water type in Doubles OU, so it is often hard for Gastrodon to find a role on many Doubles teams.
