Selkie: [frown] Is that really as fun as running, though? ‘Cause horses can be really slow, and they get tired soooo easily!
Selkie: [pain] And they’re so bumpy and easy to fall off!
Xander: [smiling, sweat] I can’t say I’ve ever found simply running to be particularly enjoyable.
Selkie: [confused] Really? It’s like in my top ten of favourite games!
Selkie: [smiling] What’s your favourite, then?
Xander: [sweat, standard] My favourite games?
Selkie: Yeah! You’ve been alive basically forever, so you must have some great ones!
Xander: [pain] … I can’t say that I do.
Selkie: [pain] What?
Xander: [standard, sweat] Perhaps you could ask Elise-
Selkie: [angry] No, I’m asking you!
Selkie: Is it a secret? Or a boy thing?
Xander: Nothing like that. I simply don’t have the time for play.

Selkie: [smiling] Don’t worry, Papa! We’ll just have to play every single game until we find your favourite!

Selkie: Now, which of these do you wanna start with?
Xander: [standard, sweat] That’s quite a list.
Selkie: [big smile] This is the short version! I already filtered out all the games I’m pretty sure you’d need to be a kitsune to enjoy.
Selkie: It’s subdivided by location, see! So these are games for camp, these are for rivers and lakes, these are for forests…
Xander: [smiling, sweat] You’re very organised about this.
Selkie: I know my audience!
Xander: Well, why don’t we start with… squirrel swarm?
Selkie: Ooh, great choice, Papa! Okay, so, you’re definitely going to want to ditch your armour for this one…

Selkie: [big smile] Whew! That was awesome!
Selkie: Okay, okay, what next?
Xander: [pain, sweat] (How can she still have energy?)

Selkie: [pain] We’re not done already, are we? We only played seven games…
Xander: [smiling, sweat] I just remembered, there is a game I like.
Selkie: [smiling] Really? What do you do? Run, swim, climb?
Xander: None of those. Just sit.
Selkie: [pain, sweat] …That doesn’t sound like a very fun game.
Xander: It’s played on a board. Chess.
Xander: Come, I’ll show you. And if you don’t like it, we can continue through your list tomorrow.

Selkie: [smiling] Okay! So is it like darts, or arm wrestling?
Xander: [smiling, sweat] It’s a game of strategy. And quiet contemplation.
Selkie: [pain] That’s not really stuff I’m good at.
Xander: No-one is good at things straight away.
Selkie: [standard, sweat] I’ll give it a try…

[exit Xander, enter Selkie and Leo]
Leo: [frown] Unbelievable.
Selkie: [smiling] Got you! Ha!
Selkie: That’s what you get for going easy on me!
Leo: [smirk] I won’t be so kind next time.
Selkie: [big smile] And I still won’t lose! Bye, Uncle Leo!

Xander: [smiling, sweat] It seems you’re a natural.
Selkie: [smiling, blushing] Aww, you think?
Xander: [smiling] Leo usually wins even when he tries to go easy.
Selkie: Do you and him play a lot?
Xander: Not any more. To be honest, teaching you was the first game I’d played in quite some time.
Selkie: [frown] But I thought this was one of the games you liked!
Xander: It is, but I rarely have time.
Selkie: But- it doesn’t even take that long!
Xander: [frown] Even so, it’s time I should be-
Selkie: [frown] Papa! From now on, we’re gonna play together every single day!
Selkie: There’s ALWAYS time to have fun! Otherwise what’s the point of doing anything?
Xander: [frown, sweat] Every single day?
Selkie: [big smile] Mmhmm! When it’s sunny, we can play outside, and when it’s rainy, we can play chess!
Selkie: Or both! Both is good!
Xander: Selkie, you must have noticed I’m not particularly…skilled at your games.
Selkie: [smiling] Nope, but you laughed a whole lot! Like… three times! Which is a lot for you.
Xander: [pain] Surely that’s an exaggeration.
Selkie: [standard] It’s not. You’re really, really bad at having fun.
Selkie: [smiling] But I’m here to help!
Xander: Is this really so important to you?
Selkie: [angry] Of course! I love you, so I want you to be happy!
Selkie: [smiling] And playing is the quickest way to feel happy, so…
Xander: [smiling, sweat] I see. I suppose a few minutes out wouldn’t hurt.
Selkie: You’ll wanna put aside at least an hour.
Selkie: [big smile] Now, c’mon, it’s time for today’s game! You’ve got swimming clothes, right? I’ll meet you by the spring!
