  1. Growing up I had a friend who had a ridiculous level of dynastic wealth but sadly probably had more conversations with his maids than his parents. The kid would throw lavish parties that would destroy their homes, routinely steal his father's Rolls Royce when he was bored of his Benz, and was overall just a pretty mediocre person. In hindsight, he was desperate for structure and his acting out was likely a cry for help or attention.

  5. If we assume that actual parenting wasn't feasible i.e. the father was too busy or just had more important things in his life than his child, what would be the ideal form of parenting for absent parents? My girlfriend argues that loving and attentive parents are essential for a well-developed child. I'm far from convinced. I think that if I attained that level of wealth I could create a super-child by providing him with a number of mentors with whom he would work on a strictly regimented schedule.

  9. 5:00am wake up and make breakfast with a professional chef. The chef inspires the child with his love for food and teaches him culinary skills. He would learn the virtues that create a great Chef.

  11. 6:00am history lesson with history buff: The child would be lectured to and discuss some period of history and would be intellectually stimulated by someone who is passionate about reading and learning. While other children are learning history from a vapid, disenfranchised, and barely literate 25-year-old who would never voluntarily read a history book, and is only a teacher because of her maternal urges and because early childhood education is the easiest major, our child is developing a love of learning, reading, and history from someone he respects.

  13. 8:00am Private Tennis lesson: This was one of the privileges of my upper-middle-class upbringing which had tremendously positive impacts on my health and wellbeing. Aside from the obvious benefits of daily cardio, tennis lessons instilled in me a healthy relationship with competition and gave me a figure to look up to and model myself after.

  29. My point is that I think for a sufficiently wealthy person, all the tasks of raising a child could be delegated to construct a truly remarkable child even if he/she lacks great genetics. If they have trauma, have them talk to a therapist, if they have a dirty room, have them talk to Jordan Peterson.

  32. Do any of you know of someone creating this kind of life for their children? I know of some historical figures who had a uniquely brilliant upbringing such as Montaigne but are there any contemporary child experiments? Would the wealthy lesswrongers consider a life like this for their child? Are there any books on creating such a life?
