A long time- centuries ago- there was a woman who lived in a kingdom of sweets who baked gingerbread and candy, just like the many people of her world. But one day as she stared into a huge, creaking oven in an abandoned bakery, a whirlwind of fire and wicked claws carried her into another faraway world.

Subsequently, a nasty-looking witch awoke and made a gingerbread and candy house deep in the woods she had arrived in, skulking in the darkness with a burned and corrupted heart. She was as wicked as she could be, hungry for horrible things, and yet there she stayed in her gingerbread house for reasons no-one ever knew.

Abandoned in the woods by their wicked stepmother, a pair of children named Hansel and Gretel came upon the house. They were trapped by the witch, who could not ignore the burning hunger inside of her, destined to be her meals until the clever girl turned things around and burned her to death in her own oven.

As the witch died, something lucid and terrified tumbled into nothingness along with the flames.

Hansel and Gretel left the house behind, and a great white swan swooped down. He cheered the death of the witch, and offered to lead them out of the woods. But, he said, wasn't the witch terrifying? How many other children had she eaten before they stopped her, do you think? Hey, now, I've got an idea. You two are brave and smart. What if, when the witch reappeared in this world again, you could chase after her? You can stop her again and again before she hurts anyone else. You'll always be smart enough to kill her again, right...?


Many years later, a confused and addled magical girl awakens to powers of sweets and candy. Sometimes she is selfish, sometimes she is mean. Sometimes she's a loner, sometimes she's greedy. But again and again, two people close by her remember that their sacred mission is to burn the witch, for they are the reincarnations of Hansel and Gretel. Armed with the white feathers that let them create Malleus, the sacred witch-hunter tin soldiers, they always hunt the witch down and kill her before she has the chance to hurt anyone.

Sometimes she runs, and sometimes she pleads, but they always get her.


...the time is now. Choko Shinsei has grown a little distant from her clique lately, as her sixteenth birthday grows closer. And when it does, two of them wake up in the middle of the night and they remember, wait, they've seen that look in her eyes before. They remember that look she gave them sometimes. That witch... she's back again... she was trying to fool them again... this time they'll get her. This time they'll get that lying, wicked witch for good....


A magical girl theme where everything's turned on its head. Hansel and Gretel, seemingly heroes, have the power to create mechanized youma with bright white plumage, which stalk the night searching for a certain girl. Choko pleads that she doesn't know what's happened, but they have a mission to carry out, and they're convinced that they know she's no good... but can they be convinced otherwise? Who are Hansel and Gretel's newest reincarnations? What history did they have with Choko Shinsei? What memories did they share? And can those memories undo a centuries-long spiral of prejudice and hate, or reveal the dark black feathers hiding under the Great Swan's wings?
