  1. [16:31] <cleansingPhysician> CP: Heather. How have things been holding up in that life of yours? I can't exactly attest to finding it the most appealing.
  2. [16:32] * ruggedLariat fails to respond for several hours.
  3. [16:32] <ruggedLariat> RL: Aw, Ah can't complain! You do yer own work too, dontcha?
  4. [16:33] <cleansingPhysician> CP: Work would imply that I find it arduous. Im quite blessed, if we must use that word, to "Work" for my passion rather than physical labor.
  5. [16:35] <ruggedLariat> RL: Ah wouldn't say there's anything wrong with doin' labour. Someone's gotta, right?
  6. [16:37] <cleansingPhysician> CP: No, nothing wrong with it. I just have a nagging feeling that so much potential for academic inquiry is squandered on those who commit themselves to such a life. You could be a great biologist, if you committed yourself to it.
  7. [16:39] <ruggedLariat> RL: Aww, well thanks! Maybe Ah will, one day, but fer now Ma and Pa and all the others need me. Ah can't just leave them on their own, can Ah?
  8. [16:42] <cleansingPhysician> CP: You could. Maybe your studies would bring much more to the table than labor for dullards, but I digress. Its a shame that the barrier to entry for those in the science extends only to the determined or the wealthy. Or both, in my case. I would like to claim that I climbed from the bottom, but that would be painfully dishonest of me.
  9. [16:42] <cleansingPhysician> *sciences
  10. [16:45] <ruggedLariat> RL: Missy, Ah'd appreciate just a bit more respect fer me and mah family, if ya don't mind. Ah'm sure plenty of us could tackle yer sciences, but there's something to be proud of in a hard day's work that Ah don't think we'd like to give up fer some laboratory.
  11. [16:46] <cleansingPhysician> CP: No, thats fine. I didn't mean to insult your way of life, I just don't think its suited for me. Forgive me.
  12. [16:47] <ruggedLariat> RL: Ya called us dullards.
  13. [16:49] <cleansingPhysician> CP: I said it was suited for dullards. I was marking the observation that people who are less gifted often wind up in that line of work, not that your family or anyone in it has that quality. A misunderstanding.
  14. [16:50] <ruggedLariat> RL: Alright, Ah see. Sorry fer jumpin' down yer throat then.
  15. [16:52] <cleansingPhysician> CP: No, its quite admirable. I can say I get a bit feisty when a particular professor points out flaws in my research that do not exist. Speaking of my research, you wouldn't happen to have come across a deceased vuples Vulpes recently?
  16. [16:53] <ruggedLariat> RL: A... what?
  17. [16:56] <cleansingPhysician> CP: Apologies. Using the common names of animals has long been driven from my mind, I would be the one on the table if I mentioned any organism by something as vague as "Waterbug" if you read into my statment.
  18. [16:56] <cleansingPhysician> CP: A red fox, specifically. Although I may settle for any other variant.
  19. [16:58] <ruggedLariat> RL: Well, Miss Para, Ah'm afraid Ah don't have one fer ya right this second, but Ah'll keep mah eyes peeled! What do ya need it fer?
  20. [17:03] <cleansingPhysician> CP: Mostly for my personal studies. I have dissected quite a numerous number of mammals, but I have grown interested in this particular one from a distinct boredom. Finals are the week when actual discussion ends and pointless measures of knowledge begin.
  21. [17:04] <ruggedLariat> RL: Aww, don't worry. Ah'm sure you'll do fine on yer tests. But Ah'll make sure to keep mah eyes peeled fer ya! Are ya looking fer anything else?
  22. [17:06] <cleansingPhysician> CP: Not worried, just bored. I have better things to do with my time than measure my intelligence on an arbitrary scale. I don't learn so I can brag about how smart I am. I learn so that I can expand my perception on the world.
  23. [17:07] <cleansingPhysician> CP: No, but do tell me if anything of note happens in your life. I find it charming to see the world from a status so different.
  24. [17:07] <ruggedLariat> RL: Yer doing that thing again where you act like Ah'm in the wrong status.
  25. [17:08] <cleansingPhysician> CP: I said it was different. Not inferior. How are we to expand our knowledge if we only see things from one perspective?
  26. [17:15] <ruggedLariat> RL: Ah suppose. Well, we picked up two new workers just last week. They haven't done too much yet, just a coupla boys lookin' fer easy money, but Ah'm sure by this time next week they'll either be here fer good or have quit. Ain't everyone got what it takes, ya know?
  27. [17:22] <cleansingPhysician> CP: I concur. There are many laggards who trounce into the university expecting to be the next Nostradamus. Then, they fail. If there are two things I have learned in my time in this world, its that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer, and that you can never know everything. There is always more to learn.
  28. [17:23] <ruggedLariat> RL: Ah'm sure there is. The world's a big place.
  29. [17:23] <ruggedLariat> RL: Maybe one day, when yer done in yer university, Ah can try and show ya some of the stuff they wouldn't teach in there?
  30. [17:26] <cleansingPhysician> CP: If you have knowledge to offer, than I am yours to learn it.
  31. [17:27] <ruggedLariat> RL: Yer... what?
  32. [17:28] <cleansingPhysician> CP: It means that im willing to learn anything you have to offer, as long as I dont know it already. Sorry. That sentence was a bit lavish.
  33. [17:30] <ruggedLariat> RL: Oh. Well, Ah'm sure some hands-on experience would do ya good, dontcha think? Ya can't learn everything from yer chair.
  34. [17:32] <cleansingPhysician> CP: I don't sit in my chair. I do... "Field research." The kind the university doesn't approve of. And the kind it does approve of. Scientists cant learn about the world in a lab, as you know.
  35. [17:35] <ruggedLariat> RL: Ah s'pose. But Ah'm pretty sure most of yer field research is with dead animals, not live ones.
  36. [17:37] <cleansingPhysician> ((Im going to have to pause this for a little bit)) CP: A fair amount. But not all of it.
  37. [17:38] <ruggedLariat> RL: Ever helped birth a foal?
  38. [19:31] <cleansingPhysician> CP: I've watched it in person, and seen quite a many human births. But no, not myself. I'm not a Nurse. Im a surgeon.
  39. [19:31] <ruggedLariat> RL: Ah'm not a nurse either. Wanna learn how anyway?
  40. [19:32] <cleansingPhysician> CP: If I have time away from my studies, yes.
  41. [19:32] <ruggedLariat> RL: Ah know, Ah know. When yer done.
  42. [19:36] <cleansingPhysician> CP: In a similar vein, i'd like to give you a tour of the college some day. Its quite the marvelous place, even if you can't fully appreciate it currently.
  43. [19:38] <ruggedLariat> RL: Why not?
  44. [19:40] <cleansingPhysician> CP: Exactly. I could even provide for you transportation and the cost of outing, if you wanted, whenever that day comes.
  45. [19:41] <ruggedLariat> RL: Ah meant why can't Ah fully appreciate it?
  46. [19:47] <cleansingPhysician> CP: Nothing much. Just like I wont be able to fully appreciate your workplace, its hard to appreciate something when you don't know what there is to know about it.
  47. [19:49] <ruggedLariat> RL: Oh.
  48. [19:49] <ruggedLariat> RL: Well maybe you could tell me what there is to know about it then.
  49. [19:49] <ruggedLariat> RL: Just like Ah'd tell you all about the farm.
  50. [19:58] <cleansingPhysician> CP: I don't think that'd be quite the same. Nothing is ever quite the same as seeing it in person.
  51. [20:00] <ruggedLariat> RL: Ah mean while Ah'm there. Give a tour!
  52. [20:02] <cleansingPhysician> CP: Ah. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I suppose so. Perhaps it is best to have a more down-to earth person, to counteract my more ostentatious characteristics. That's why im glad to have you in contact, not many of my classmates seem to want to do anything but ask me about my research. Or copy it, predictably.
  53. [20:05] <ruggedLariat> RL: Aww, thanks! Ah think.
  54. [20:08] <cleansingPhysician> CP: Don't grow too attached to my affection, im actually just here to kidnap you and steal your organs.
  55. [20:09] <cleansingPhysician> CP: That was a joke. Hahah. Funny.
  56. [20:09] <ruggedLariat> RL: Ha ha, oh no! Ah shoulda suspected all along!
  57. [20:13] <cleansingPhysician> CP: Anyways, and with that brief respite from my usual overbearing drivel, I must take my absence. Pleasantries and goodbyes, all around.
  58. [20:13] <ruggedLariat> RL: Sure thing. Take care of yerself! Ah'll try to keep mah organs intact fer ya.
  59. [20:15] <cleansingPhysician> CP: I am gracious for your preservation of such valuable notes of study.
  60. [20:15] * cleansingPhysician has retreated to her studies
