- “You should go,” he said. “There's not much time left.”
- “Time?”
- “That's right,” said the doctor. “Giegue went into his cocoon yesterday, and he should remain in it until tomorrow. This may be your last chance.”
- “Cocoon?”
- “Last chance?”
- The Warriors could only stand there with their eyes open wide.
- “If you please...”
- The doctor used the tip of his claw to carve a diagram of the creature into the wooden surface of a nearby desk. In grade school, he must have been the kind of kid who excelled at scratching things into his desk during class, for there was a true mastery in his line work.
- “Giegue is a type of creature that resembles an insect,” the doctor explained. “At many intervals during the course of his growth, he must retreat into a specialized cocoon made of his own bodily fluids. While in this cocoon, he 'sleeps', to put it into human terminology. In the midst of this part of the cycle, his power is at its weakest. Observing his patterns and calculating the proper timing is how I stole that saucer and escaped from the mothership. That's when I was attacked by the Omega Saucers, and that's how I ended up looking like this, but...hmph. If you attack now, well, you may just have a chance of winning.”
