Matsuri has areas where I feel she could have dealt with better, I won't deny that. However, there are some concerns fans have that I think are blown out of proportion or groundless. Hence this blogpost.
1. Does matsuri want to filter fans? Does she only want yes-men?
She doesn't want yes-men and she doesn't want people to turn into yes-men, the fans she wants to filter off are the extreme ones. There's nothing wrong in that but the way she does it is problematic.
>Example nutshell: Matsuri wants to work with the whole of HoloProduction. When people tell me "Don't collab with those sort of people!", I'm sure you are a nice person but sorry, Matsuri doesn't see you that way.
Most people can tell she's trying to filter the extreme fans but she's a big figure and she needs to be more careful with her words. Though reading over multiple tweets I understand her, it's not explicit, to the point where I dare not either agree or disagree with her. Not to mention most fans wouldn't think too much about a single tweet

She was probably just trying to calm the flames by the bad fans but she doesn't know what is happening here on bilibili. She's said this sort of thing before and it's not like she's bringing it up specifically.
Even when she streamed on bilibili, it seems like she doesn't realise how much recent events have affected her core fanbase here. I don't know how much the bilibili staff have told her and won't speculate but I was afraid something would blow up so I tweeted at her directly.

Who says she only wants yes-men? In her member stream, she revealed that she said she had read comments that people wanted more games and didn't like zatsudans so she made an effort to reduce the number of them(i know member stream and all but this is an exception). She's always taking feedback from fans.
Sometimes I still regret not doing enough. Maybe if I was braver and had made her clarify some points earlier, maybe things might have turned out differently?
Regardless, Matsuri being too  blunt is sure to cause problems.
2. Matsuri's attitude to the current situation

This was in reference to the "30 days till matsuri is an idol" comic. Just as the bilibili flames were getting put out she tweeted this sort of thing. As long as she kept interacting with holostars, anything and everything would be used to feed that narrative and I knew shit would eventually hit the fan.
but she may have noticed something wrong recently and tweeted again that she won't have a relationship, that she would never betray her fans and hopes they will trust her
she's also got some community posts up that shed some light on the situation but maybe she is concerned how people will take it so it's member-locked for now.

There's definitely issues.
The big one is her retweets aren't careful enough and they affect her image. (t/n my guess is holostar retweets triggering bilibili?) The smaller one is she she is not careful enough with her words which can result in misunderstandings. When those occur and she turns defensive, it becomes hard to give feedback.
However, some issues are played up or plain wrong.
She doesn't want to filter fans and she doesn't want yes-man. She's open to feedback and has done it before.
Just because there's some fans she's not comfortable with, it doesn't mean her love is lip service or that she doesn't care about you.
My own thoughts (t/n the bilibili guy, not me)
At this point, to her the holostars are her precious friends. In this situation where she doesn't want to abandon her friends yet doesn't want to let down her fans, her only option is to keep saying her fans are her favourite, telling them she has no plans to enter a relationship, pleading for them to believe her and even using such a heavy phrase as "I'll never betray you".
Whenever I think about this, I feel sad. Why does she choose to put herself in this sort of situation? Why does she keep having to please everyone? but looking back at when I started following matsuri, I guess that was what I liked about her.

Maybe her methods need some work, but her love for her fans is not a question.
