  1. Why was Lullaby Skip banned?
  2. Only one method of Lullaby Skip was banned, being the sword slash method you've seen in runs up to this point. This is because the sword slashes combined with the wind resulted in hovering whenever you hit the ledge of the slope, something not fully understood until dannyb prompted further investigation into it. There are still two other versions of Lullaby Skip that would be allowed in Glitchless, but one is insanely slow and the other is so difficult it's unlikely to be seen outside of a TAS for quite some time.
  3.
  4. What is your goal time?
  5. I don't yet know, because with Lullaby Skip removed it will take a few runs to get a feel for what's possible with this iteration of the route.

  9. Why is Power Crouch Stab allowed?
  10. Every crouch stab you ever do in Majora's Mask is a power crouch stab. Therefore, the only way to ban them would be to enact a universal ban on all crouch stabs, which is somewhat extreme and difficult to justify.

  12. Why are certain tricks allowed, while others aren't?
  13. There is no universal definition for what a glitch is. Most strategies and techniques that are used in Majora's Mask speedruns were evaluated on an individual basis when creating a ruleset for Glitchless. Obvious offenders were banned, but some create an issue, as it isn't always clear whether something can be classified as a glitch or not. In these cases, runners used their best judgement to create the best ruleset possible. One important thing to recognize is that something that is unintended is not necessarily a glitch. Gainers obviously aren't intended, but the game mechanics underlying why they work are, and thus gainers are allowed. Similarly, damage boosts allow for multiple skips throughout the run, but are allowed because they're executed by just taking damage in midair, something that is definitely not an abuse of the game. Two noteworthy examples of tricks that not everyone agrees on are recoil flips and longjumps. Some people find that these glitches use only intended mechanics and thus should be allowed, while others believe that the conservation of speed component of both of these tricks makes them bannable. The majority, however, decided it should be banned, but there is a category with a very similar ruleset to Glitchless known as Bug Limit, popular in the Japanese community, that allows both of these tricks.

  15. Why is the Mirror Shield segment so long?
  16. There are two big reasons the mirror shield segment is as long as it is. The bulk of this segment is actually working up to an in-game time event where the aliens/ghosts attack Romani Ranch in order to steal its cows. This event always occurs at the same time in game, and thus for the most part determines how long this segment can be. Therefore, if I were to divide up the segment into multiple smaller ones, it would create a situation where I would likely obtain best segments that were incompatible with one another, meaning they can't occur in the same run.
  17. As an example, if I were to cut Mirror Shield in half in 2 separate segments, during one run I could perform really well on the first segment, but then because of that I might arrive at aliens early, and thus the second segment would become a bit slower. On another run, I could perform poorly on the first segment, but make up for it and still arrive to the ranch on time to defend it by doing the second segment really quickly. The best segments from these 2 separate runs cannot occur in the same run, since aliens always occurs at the same time, meaning my Sum of Best Segments is inaccurate and holds even less meaning than it already did.\
  18. The other reason Mirror Shield segment is lengthier is due to how the first trip to Ikana Canyon is handled. Depending on how much time I have remaining before I need to be at the ranch, the amount I complete in that first trip changes, with the rest being put off until after the trip to the ranch. With the route varying because of this, having a split before the route converges would again create problems both with sum of best, and the split that divides it, which is why Mirror Shield is chosen as the point that all events in Ikana are completed and the routes converge.
  19.
  20. How many in-game cycles is this run completed in?
  21. 2. The first is the cycle you're trapped in Clock Town as a deku, and tasked with getting your Ocarina back. The second is when you return to human form and learn Song of Healing. The remainder of the run is completed in that single 3 day cycle.
  22.
  23. Why do you do goron race or aliens?
  24. The bottles obtained from both of these are crucial to the route as they allow for their to be only one trip to Pinnacle Rock and two to Pirate's Fortress. In addition, the bottle obtained from the aliens sidequest comes with milk inside of it, which is requested by a gibdo in Beneath the Well and is necessary to obtain Mirror Shield, saving more time.
