bruv if my explanation is shit just look it up. every death note is owned by a shinigami (god of death) and when a human comes into ownership with one, the shinigami has to follow them around for as long as they own the death note. they're kind of gross, resembling insects and crustaceans, and they'll just sort of randomly appear alongside you once you obtain ownership. so your character can react any way you want it to, when they come into contact.
