  7.
  8. INTRODUCTION
  9. Nodes are locations on the map. Nodes can be connected, using Contribution Points, to give you bonuses such as more loot drops or higher profit when trading. They are also used to send workers to bring back resources for you.
  10.
  11. TYPES OF NODES
  12. There are currently two types of Nodes. These are: Adventure Nodes and Production Nodes.
  13.
  14. ADVENTURE NODES
  15. These are the icons for each adventure node. From left to right these are: City, Town, Village, Gateway, Trading Post, Connection and Dangerous node. These nodes have a “Node Manager” NPC which is used for navigating nodes.
  16.
  17. PRODUCTION NODES
  18. These are icons for the production nodes. Production nodes are places you can send your workers to gather materials for you. The names of each of these productions nodes, from left to right are: Farm, Forest, Mine and Management Office.
  19.
  20. Each of these production nodes are connected to an adventure node and need to be invested in to be used. Farms, Forests and Mines are connected to Trading Posts, Connection nodes and Dangerous nodes. While the Management Office can be found at Villages.
  21.
  22. HOW TO CONNECT NODES
  23. When connecting nodes it is best to start from Cities or Towns you have discovered then work your way out. Adventure Nodes that can be connected will have a white line from one to the other. Nodes that are currently connected will have a yellow line joining them together.
  24.
  25. To connect nodes you must first go to the Node Manager NPC. To find the node manager you can right-click the node icon to set a pathfinder. Once you are at the node manager, speak to him/her and press “Check Node”.
  26.
  27. This will open the map and show any production nodes that the adventure node also has. If there are nodes you haven’t discovered that can also be connected to the node you are at, the locations will be shown on the map.
  28.
  29. In the top left corner a window will appear showing all the node information such as whether the node has a trade administrator, the country, territory, node managers name, which guild is currently controlling the node and the amount of contribution points it will cost to invest in the node.
  30.
  31. To connect the nodes, click “Invest”.
  32.
  33. To cancel the connection between nodes you can open the map at any time, click on the node icon, then click “Withdraw”. You can also further invest in a node using energy. This will increase the nodes level. The higher the level, the more loot drops you will get from monsters in this area.
  34.

  41. UNDERSTANDING BDO NODES
  42. Ready to start conquering lands and owning every BDO territory in sight? Then building a massive node network is just what you need! 🙂 Black Desert Online has a fun and rewarding city building aspect to its game that some call node empire building. This BDO node guide will help you understand more about how node connections and investments work in game, and how you can expand your own node worker empire.
  43.
  44. Nodes in BDO are represented by icons on your game map (M) after you have visited a location. Nodes are useful because they allow you to invest your Contribution Points (CP) and energy to earn special benefits like money, game items, buffs, trade routes, and amity help. The types of nodes you can invest in are main location nodes and their production subnodes.
  45.
  46. BDO Node Map Empire
  47. LOCATION NODES (AKA MAIN NODES OR ADVENTURE NODES)
  48. Main nodes are clearly visible on the map after you have visited their location. Sometimes this can get tricky to know exactly where to step to get the icon to appear on the world map. But usually it’s near the the Node Manager. This is where a good node map website comes in handy, like somethinglovely.net. Without a Value Pack, each node is controlled by its Node Manager. You can travel to a Node Manager by right clicking the node icon on your map to create an auto-path, then T to auto-travel.
  49. Node Managers that you have already spoken to can later be auto-pathed to via the NPC button on the top right of the screen. Type “Node Management” into the search of the NPC Finder interface and it will list all the Node Managers you have already spoken to, sorted by region.
  50.
  51. Town Nodes: Where every sprawling node empire must have its humble beginnings… Every node you purchase, must be connected to a town or city that has a Work Supervisor (most do). Town and city nodes are usually given for free and provide one free worker (free means no CP cost). Invest energy into town/city nodes to lower starting interest and favor of NPCs in that city/town. Useful for acquiring amity with those obstinate NPCs!
  52.
  53. Gateway Nodes: these expensive nodes cost too much Contribution Points, but help you connect to more important nodes further away from town.
  54. Connection Nodes: produce goods or sometimes just help you expand your empire and connect to other resources and cities. Purchase with Contribution Points or level them up with energy to gain an item drop buff for the enemies you kill around the node’s location.
  55.
  56. Dangerous Nodes: be careful when you visit these as they are usually smack dab in the middle of mayhem, but many are often well worth the trouble, because just like connection nodes, they offer resources in exchange for CP and an item drop buff for your energy. Read more about how to spend energy to max out a Node to level 10
  57.
  58. City Nodes: If you see one of these node icons, you’ve landed in the big time baby! Congratulations. 🙂 They are the same as towns in function, but have more lodging for your workers, which you will soon need so you can overthrow the world with your node kingdom.
  59.
  60. City Nodes Trading Post Nodes: very similar to connection nodes and usually have Trade Managers with a few housing and production options.
  61.
  62. PRODUCTION NODES (AKA SUBNODES OR SECONDARY NODES)
  63. Resource Nodes Subnode Resources: click on a main location node (a connection/danger/trading post node) and it will often have one or more subnodes you can purchase with CP. They can sometimes be tricky to spot on the in-game map unless you use a map website like somethinglovely.net. For example, some nodes don’t show their resources, until after you purchase the main node with Contribution Points and spend Energy at the Node Manager.
  64.
  65. Gathering/Farming Nodes Farming/Production Nodes: starting out, you will want the nodes that produce starches/grains, so you can craft beer AFK to replenish the stamina of your workers.
  66. Starch/Grain Node List:
  67. Corn: Toscani Farm (Velia)
  68. Potato: Bartali, Finto, Loggia Farms (Velia)
  69. Sweet Potato: Shuri Farm (Tarif)
  70. Barely: Northern Wheat Plantation (Calpheon City)
  71. Wheat: Costa Farm, Moretti Plantation (Heidel) + Northern Wheat Plantation (Calpheon City)
  72.
  73. Crafting beer also provides a secondary item you can turn in for more CP! (about 1 out of 5 beers crafted) If you find you enjoy cooking, there is great opportunity to purchase more food nodes and earn silver. For example, the grape node outside of Olvia is the only fruit node for aspiring cooks. Alejandro Farm, which produces Cooking Honey, is needed for Cooking as well.
  74.
  75. Mining Nodes: Most ores are in high demand, often have cheap CP costs, and are used in allot of crafting recipes, like the popular and profitable +AP Grunil armors. The cheap ore nodes around Velia are great investments. Some mining nodes produce rare and valuable crystals/powders.
  76.
  77. Timber Nodes: Most timber has high value even unprocessed. Some players, who have high enough processing skill, level their processing and make extra money by buying timber and ore directly from the Marketplace and processing it for resale. (soft cap is Artisan 2 SOURCE: BDO Profitability Tool) Timber usually has good demand at the Marketplace. Boat crafters will love you. Sailing, anyone? 🙂 Note: always check pricing before buying to resell.
  78.
  79. Fish Drying Yard Nodes: dried fish is great for people who enjoy cooking, but don’t like to fish! Works wonderful in making Good Feed for pets. Dried fish stack in the bank and your worker does the drying for you. Just selling the dried fish uncooked isn’t very profitable atm, so Fish Yards are only recommended for people who like to cook. Because of their long work cycles and distance, fish drying yards need goblin workers, who have the highest Workspeed/Movement Speed. The cheapest and easiest fish drying yard to purchase is Serca Island, just NW of Port Epheria. Costs 2 CP and you get a free worker.
  80.
  81. Excavation Nodes: these little gems are often tricky, but worthwhile to purchase. For many of them, you have to visit the Node Manager and spend Energy (-35 Energy) to open up a sometimes secret Excavation sub-node. Excavation nodes produce all of the various and very high demand Traces of _______. When used in crafting recipes, Traces have a good return. Use goblins in excavation nodes because of the very long work cycles and distances. Go to the bottom of this page to read about Excavation Nodes and how/where to obtain them.
  82.
  83. Investment Bank Nodes: Click on a city/town node to view available bank nodes that you can invest gold bars in and possibly earn interest from. Gold bars are purchased at the Storage Keeper for silver. But you must have a rank 1 residence and that costs real cash. According to Balzor, a few investment banks pay 125 million silver per month, but only if you plan on spending at least $200 trying to outrank the current #1 ranking resident. That means buying the newest/smallest furniture from the Pearl Shop. And newer/smaller furniture with better Interior Points are constantly being added to the shop. View Balzor’s Bank Node Guide
  84.
  85. Investment Bank Nodes Specialties Node: Like Investment Bank Nodes, these require you to purchase a residence with CP and obtain a rank 1 house where the specialty is located. Rank 1 requires filling your residence with items that have high Interior Points. (means buying furniture with real cash.) Takes six hours to craft one item for free that is worth 6k to 50k at the local Trade Manager.
  86.
  87. CONNECTING NODES WITH CONTRIBUTION POINTS
  88. Nodes have to be connected to each other in a chain from a city or town that has a Work Supervisor. This requires that you have at least 2 Contribution Points (1 CP for a main node and 1 CP for its resource node). CP is obtained through questing and cooking/alchemy. The CP cost of nodes increases as you move into higher level territories, but you will also obtain higher level resource items, which are used in higher level recipes. When connecting a node with Contribution Points, you will need a lodging, a worker, and enough storage space for the main resource, but also it’s secondary resources. For example, timber often has a smaller yield of an alchemy ingredient along with the timber.
  89.
  90. BDO Node Connection Lines
  91. Look for Node Managers that have the <Node Management> title above their name. Talk to them (R) and select the Node Management button to purchase resource nodes for 1 to 5 CP. (35 energy is sometimes required). This will automatically open a world map. If you do this and haven’t connected the right previous node required, long thin beams of light will shoot down from the sky on your world map showing the closest Node Manager locations that you haven’t connected yet (even if there is still a fog over the area because you haven’t visited).
  92.
  93. NOTE: If you have a Value Pack buff, you can more conveniently purchase nodes via the map with CP, but it will cost 10 energy for each investment. Also, you must have visited the node previously. (With no unexplored fog over the map.)
  94.
  95. After you have discovered an area and removed the fog over the map, node connections show as thin white lines that curve between the map icons. If you own that connection, it becomes a possible trade route and turns yellow. All your invested node icons are highlighted in yellow as well.
  96.
  97. If you need help finding the best nodes to invest in, you may find the BDO Node Investment Calculator helpful.
  98.
  99.
  100. BDO Contribution Withdrawal and Invest
  101. CONTRIBUTION WITHDRAWAL (DISCONNECTING NODES)
  102. Contribution Points are never spent and lost forever. You can withdraw invested CP by using the world map interface, but withdraw in the reverse order that you invested in. For example, you can not pull CP from a node in the middle of a chain, if it breaks another node’s connection to a Work Supervisor leaving it stranded. Also, subnodes have to be uninvested before the main node’s CP is withdrawn. A Contribution Withdrawal button will appear in the Node Information box, after you click on a node and when there is no worker currently working there.
  103.
  104. WARNING: when you withdraw CP, you loose all node levels and any energy you invested to gain those levels!
  105.
  106. Contribution Withdrawal Errors Much?
  107. “You Cannot retrieve Contributions Points from the Node while the Worker is working”: These types of errors are common, even though you can see that no worker is currently working on the node you want to withdraw Contribution from! Follow your node network from the node you want to uninvest to see if you are trying to disconnect a node that would leave a currently working worker stranded from his Work Supervisor. One strategy that might help is to filter your worker list by City and see which worker is working on which nodes.
  108.
  109.
  110. Energy Cost Node Level Item Drop Rate
  111. 0 1 +5%
  112. 100 2 +10%
  113. 200 3 +15%
  114. 400 4 +20%
  115. 650 5 +25%
  116. 1000 6 +30%
  117. 1400 7 +35%
  118. 1900 8 +40%
  119. 2500 9 +45%
  120. 3200 10 +50%
  121. Total Energy Cost: 11,350
  122. INVESTING ENERGY FOR NODE LEVELS
  123. Invest energy into nodes to gain an item drop rate increase. Putting energy into a city/town node also helps amity conversations for NPCs in that city/town.
  124.
  125. ● Level 10 Nodes: provide +10% rare loot obtain chance. (doesn’t effect junk loot that drops all the time.)
  126. ● +5% Item Drop Rate for 10% of monsters killed, for each node level
  127. ● Has no effect on party drops.
  128. ● Simplified Example: Investing a total of 11,350 energy for Node level 10 gives +50% higher Item Drop Rate for 1 out of every 10 monsters killed
  129. ● Detailed Example: Elite Sentinel pirate has a Blue Coral Ring drop rate of .1% (1 per 1000 kills). So a level 10 node would increase the drop rate to a .15% chance for 100 pirates out of 1000 pirate kills
  130.
  131. There is still debate about raising node levels for other reasons. For example, there are rumors about investing energy into resource subnodes and main nodes to improve worker yields, vendor prices, worker promotions, improved relic shard drops for afk fishing, etc.
  132.
  133. CONNECTING NODES FOR TRADE ROUTES
  134. When you connect one node that has a Trade Manager to another node that has a Trade Manager, you have created a trade route. This allows you to buy one item from one Trade Manager and maybe sell it for a profit at another distant Trade Manager. The longer the distance you transport trade goods, the bigger your distance bonus. When selecting items to buy for resale, be sure to check the Trade Manager’s Market Price button, so you don’t make a trip for nothing! Competition by other players trading the same thing can actually lower the value and make you loose money. Pricing fluctuates all the time. One day you might see a Trade Manager’s item with a 200% resale value to a distant Trade Manager during a “Boom Period”, but the next day you might actually loose silver to that same Trader. Most people consider trading Trade Master purchased items as a waste of time and it’s not recommended as a way to earn serious silver. So only do it if you enjoy trading or want to level up your trade skill! (There are faster ways to level trading, but they will probably cost you more Pearls and silver.)
  135.
  136. BDO Trading Guide
  137. Without a trade route established by having purchased a node chain with CP, your trade items will have a 70% penalty in sell price. It’s important that there is no break in your node chain from the Trade Manager you originally bought from to the buying Trade Manager. If you see a 30% sell price, then you are missing a node somewhere. Trade items can also be obtained through questing and hunting. One fun and profitable way to level up your trade skill, is to fish and sell the fresh fish.
  138.
  139. Moving Trade Goods
  140. Trade items are always heavy, especially the ones purchased from the Trade Manager. If you purchase from the Trade Manager, you will become very slow, but walking with a trade pack on your back does increase your Strength (+Weight Limit). When leveling Strength, use the Auto Loop feature on your map. (You only need 1 trade good in your inventory to level Strength.) If you’re not trying to level Strength, then make sure you have a Mule, Horse, Wagon, or Elephant nearby to transport the trade goods.
  141.
  142. Connected trade routes also make transporting bank items via the Storage Keeper from city to city cheaper.
  143.
  144. As of Patch 6-19-19, you can no longer transport Trade Goods via the Storage Manager’s Transport function.
  145.
  146. BDO Crate Trading
  147. CONNECTING NODES FOR CRAFTED TRADE CRATES
  148. Creating trade routes by connecting nodes is important if you want to profit from your own crafted trade crates. These are made inside Workbench housing, a type of housing you purchase in the node interface with CP. You create trade crates by processing wood and ore via the Processing tab (L) using your own processing skill and then having your workers pack the processed goods into crates. Processing can be done by you, but trade crates can only be created by your workers.
  149.
  150. The most popular and profitable crates players like to trade (with Desert + Distance + Bargain Bonus, and crafting in Trent and transporting to Valencia) are…
  151.
  152. Crates Produced by Mineral Workbench Housing:
  153. Brass Ingot Crate: 31,590 Base Price / 118,813 Sell Price
  154. Bronze Ingot Crate: 29,670 Base Price / 111,592 Sell Price
  155. Steel Ingot Crate: 21,030 Base Price / 79,096 Sell Price
  156. Jewelry Crate: 189,030 Base Price / 710,961 Sell Price (requires rare gold, silver, platinum)
  157. Crates Produced by Wood Workbench Housing:
  158. Balenos Timber Crate: 28,710 Base Price / 107,981 Sell Price
  159. Serendia Timber Crate: 32,550 Base Price / 122,424 Sell Price
  160. Mediah Timber Crate: 40,230 Base Price / 151,309 Sell Price
  161. Calpheon Timber Crate: 50,790 Base Price / 191,026 Sell Price
  162. For an even greater distance bonus, players craft crates in Grana, but it’s not as popular for some due to the higher CP costs. (you get 113% distance bonus vs Trent’s 99%)
  163.
  164. To get an idea of what you can potentially earn, visit Famme’s Crate Calculator. As you can see, the earnings can be quite high, but there are allot of factors that you have to consider like distance bonus, artisan 2 trade skill requirement, processing skill (soft cap is Artisan 2, SOURCE: BDO Profitability Tool), desert buff, bargain bonus, and the logistics of transporting massive amounts of heavy crates, connecting and then disconnecting very long node chains that are CP expensive, market price fluctuations…. ACK!!! Crate Trading is a complex topic to say the least and you can potentially make or loose money doing it, so it requires its own guide. You can read more about trading in Eminent’s Trading Guide and Biohack’s Trading Guide.
  165.
  166. EXCAVATION NODE LIST & HOW-TO
  167. Excavation nodes are important, if you enjoy crafting and like to maximize your income potential by creating stuff with workers or your own skills. Excavation nodes produce a bottleneck item for many recipes, which is called Trace of ______. If you do not plan to craft, then you might want to avoid excavations, as their node chains can be expensive and the work cycles are too long to make good money. However, if you do craft, you can at least double the Trace’s value, if not more. Be sure to check Marketplace prices before attempting any crafting! Game updates and supply/demand can change a Trace’s value.
  168.
  169. Excavation Nodes
  170. Many Excavation nodes are hidden and have to be purchased in person at their Node Manager, even with a Value Pack buff on. This often requires you to purchase the main node first with CP, then you will see an option to spend Energy. Energy cost is usually 35… don’t be surprised if you pass out from utter exhaustion for speaking so effusively to your sneaky Node Manager. 😉
  171.
  172. IMPORTANT: Be sure you have plenty of space in your worker’s storage location! Many Excavation nodes take up to 5 slots because they produce at least two vendor sell items along with Traces.

  376. Building a Worker Empire (Black Desert Online 2019)
  377. 5 (36)
  378. Want to amass a ton of money in BDO and have more silver jingling in your pockets? Want to do that all AFK? Then a worker slave army is your solution! It might take months, but you’ll eventually build your own amazing worker empire. In Black Desert Online, workers are NPCs that you purchase to ummm… work for you. 🙂 They can gather resources outside the city from locations on the map that you own. This includes profitable items like ore, timber, alchemy/cooking resources, and other goodies used in crafting. Crafting in BDO is different than in most MMOs, in that you can have your workers make stuff for you. Once you set up housing for your workers, they use stored resources to craft items like horse gear, furniture, weapons, tools, armors, trade crates, and much more.
  379.
  380. It’s good to start building your worker empire as soon as you reach Velia, which is the second major town you will encounter. You will most likely have a couple Contribution Points from questing to purchase a resource node. Workers require periodic feeding and management, but the rewards are well worth the time and cost. Most of the time they work in the background making you money, while you play the game or sleep/work.
  381.

  383. PUTTING BDO WORKERS ON NODES
  384. BDO Node Worker
  385. As you explore the land, you will uncover nodes on the World Map (M) that you can send workers to. For help learning about node investment and and how to connect a node network for a worker empire, please visit our BDO Node Guide. Your first node should be a grain node so you can feed your workers.
  386.
  387. Starch/Grain Node List:
  388.
  389. Corn: Toscani Farm (Velia)
  390. Potato: Bartali, Finto, Loggia Farms (Velia)
  391. Sweet Potato: Shuri Farm (Tarif)
  392. Barely: Northern Wheat Plantation (Calpheon City)
  393. Wheat: Costa Farm, Moretti Plantation (Heidel) + Northern Wheat Plantation (Calpheon City)
  394. After you invest Contribution Points (CP) into a main node and its resource node, you can assign a worker to the resource node to work at gathering game items for you. Click the main node and then the subnode on the world map, and a window will open to let you choose which worker you would like to send. The worker you choose will continue to work there, placing all goods into the storage of the city you hired him at, until he runs out of stamina. (Or he will work 1 cycle and stop, if you don’t select the Change button and then Max option for number of work cycles.)
  395.
  396. There’s no place like Home…
  397. Workers are extremely loyal to the city your hire them at. They can’t be uprooted and moved to a different city. If you have two towns connected, you can send a worker into a node close to a foreign city, or even into a workshop there, but they will always travel back home and put the items they gather/make into their home town’s storage. When crafting in cities that aren’t their home town, workers will only ever use their home town’s storage for retrieving crafting materials from and placing the finished product into.

  400. HOW TO HIRE WORKERS & BUY LODGING
  401. BDO Lodging for Workers
  402. You get one free lodging for each Work Supervisor. Purchase additional lodging for more workers by clicking on the city/town node. Click the filter on the top right labeled “All”. Narrow the housing results by selecting “Lodging”. Click a blue house then select Lodging then Purchase button to purchase. Lodging usually costs about 1 CP per worker. Some of the more expensive homes may allow more than one worker to lodge there. In this case you have to upgrade the lodging to a higher level, which costs silver and a short build time.

  407. BDO Skilled Worker
  408. How to Hire Workers:
  409. To hire workers, visit the <Work Supervisor> located in most cities and towns. The nearest Work Supervisor can be found by using the NPC Finder button at the top right of the screen. Click on the Pickaxe icon labeled Worker. Talk to the Work Supervisor (R) and find the button labeled Contract Workers. Each time you attempt to hire a worker, it will cost 5 energy and require 1 lodging. (You get one free lodging per city/town.)
  410.
  411. RNG When Hiring Workers
  412. When you are hiring workers, it’s a roll of the dice to see what race and worker grade you will get. Most of the time though, you will get a green tier Normal worker. That’s ok when you’re first starting out and don’t have much energy to gamble with. But if you have enough energy, keep rolling workers by pressing the View Another button until you get at least a blue Skilled Worker. You can attempt to promote a worker to one grade higher when he reaches level 10, 20, and 30. If my worker is Professional grade, I usually wait until he is level 30 to promote, because the odds are better, even though it takes forever to get from 20 to 30. Many players promote workers at level 20, then sell if they fail twice. Professionals are harder to come by. For Skilled workers, I have good luck promoting at level 20, and if it fails, it’s not difficult to buy another.
  413.
  414.
  415. BDO WORKER TIERS (AKA WORKER GRADES)
  416. Like items in the game, worker grades are shown by different colors on their names. In BDO, the best worker grade is colored orange…
  417.
  418. Artisan – the best worker tier and most difficult to obtain. Keep this fella if you get lucky on seeing one! Normally you have to go through the Promotion process to get one. You can sometimes get lucky at the Slave Market. (Work Supervisor’s Worker Exchange button). Reportedly, it takes about 1.8k energy (360 rolls) to obtain one. (less than 1% chance.)
  419. Professional – more common than Artisan, but still requires a very lucky roll. I like to roll new workers at the Work Supervisor until I get at least this grade. (Last try cost me 1040 energy, but then got the next one with 100 energy) Highly RNG!
  420. Skilled – try not to hire anyone below this grade. Skilled grade is where you really start to see big improvement in worker stats at level 30. Skilled workers and above can be profitable because you can sell them by talking to the Work Supervisor. (Click Worker Exchange then Register.)
  421. Normal – most common tier, but has significantly lower stats than Skilled workers. Until you gain more knowledge, which increases your energy, you might have to settle for this at first.
  422. Naive – poor stats! Click View Another button.
  423.

  439.
  440. BDO WORKER STATS
  441. Work Speed: Workspeed is an important stat because this number determines wether a job can be done in 1 tick or more. 1 tick is equal to 10 minutes (crates are 5 minutes). Work Speed stat is heavily reliant on the node’s Workload however, so you have to pay close attention to the node detail window visible before you give a work command.
  442.
  443. Basically, you are trying to cover the node’s Workload with your worker’s Work Speed. If a node’s Workload is 200, and a worker’s Work Speed is 100, then he will do the job in 2 ticks (20 minutes) plus the distance calculation.
  444.
  445. Work Time = roundup(Workload/Workspeed)*10
  446. when Workspeed equals or is higher than Workload = 10 minute job completion
  447. when Workspeed is between 50% and 99% of the Workload = 20 minute job completion
  448. when Workspeed is between 33% and 49% of the Workload = 30 minute job completion
  449. Movement Speed: Movement Time = Distance/Movement speed * 2 Important for nodes located far away. It’s added after the ticks are counted. To save on movement time, look for close nodes that you may be able to use slow moving workers on, who have more stamina. (like Giant, Human, Fadus)
  450.
  451. Luck: Gives a better chance for obtaining secondary, more rare items from nodes. Studies confirm it’s not as effective as greater Movement Speed and Workspeed.
  452.
  453. Stamina (aka Action Points): Allows workers to work for longer periods without being fed. 1 job uses up 1 Stamina.

  496.
  497. Goblins and Papu truly excel at working on your nodes, especially if they are far away from town. In my work on the BDO Node Investment Calculator, I discovered that Goblins and Papu always produce more. Often times this means they produce double what a human can produce. This is true even for nodes that have rare secondary resources like excavation nodes. You would think Luck would play a big role in these types of nodes, but that’s not the case. Studies done and published by Balzor and other players concluded that a Human’s high Luck can’t outpace Goblin/Papu movement speed and work speed except if the node is very close to the town. View Balzor’s Worker Guide
  498.
  499. Which Worker Type is Best?
  500. It’s important to consider your play style when choosing workers. Do you AFK for long periods? Then Giants and Fadus are the best. Are you constantly at the keyboard, ready to check your worker’s stamina when they tucker out? Then Goblin or Papu is your man! ..err I mean species? Or is it race? Anyway, you get the idea. Humans are a safe middle ground. I often use Humans. There are some nodes in which you can take smaller cuts in production. (and not cut production in half.) If you visit our BDO Node Investment Calculator, you will see that many nodes have a default worker selection of Human because the decrease in silver value was small enough for my play style.

  515. Workers use one stamina for each job they complete. If you have many low tier and low Stamina goblins, this can keep you busy feeding workers throughout the day. For example, you have to feed a Skilled Goblin every 40 minutes, if they are on those quick 5 minute crafting jobs in town. They only have 8 stamina. A Skilled Giant, however, has the most Stamina and would last 125 hours on 5 minute jobs because he has 25 Stamina. As you can see, Giants are stamina kings, but their workspeed and movement is slow.
  516.
  517. GRUMPY WORKER: FEED ME!
  518. My workers are starving in the morning. Beer and Grilled Bird Meat are the cheapest options you can make to restore Stamina and get them working again. Beer replenishes 2 Stamina, and Grilled Bird Meat replenishes 3 Stamina. To make Beer or Grilled Bird Meat, you first have to purchase a “Residence” type of house”. Then gather cooking ingredients by visiting the Inn Owners and Innkeepers in cities/towns. You can find the nearest Innkeeper/Inn Owner by using the NPC finder button on the top right of the screen. Click the turkey icon labeled Cooking to create an auto-path. He will have a Cooking Utensil you can purchase and all the ingredients you need except for the grains or chicken meat. Grains can be gathered by your workers at 4 different nodes around Velia and there are more grain nodes in higher level areas. There are also two Chicken Meat nodes near Velia. Please visit Birdie’s Beer Making Guide, if you feel lost on how to begin cooking.

  521. BDO Worker Skills Guide
  522. Workers are born into the BDO world with 1 skill, but can earn up to 7 by leveling up. They will gain an additional skill every 5th level at levels 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30. Named workers get 1 extra, for a total of 8 skills. Skills do stack with each other, but can’t be repeated. You can’t have two Farm Knowledge (Work Speed +5). For worker skills that have the same name, but different grade, it’s possible to stack. For example, Work Supervisor A will stack with Work Supervisor B for a total of +5 Workspeed, but 2 Work Supervisor A’s for a total of +6 is not possible.

  547. BDO WORKER LEVELING GUIDE
  548. Basics of Worker Leveling:
  549. When your worker completes a job (work cycle), he earns experience points based upon how long that job took. This EXP can be seen in each worker’s EXP bar located below his portrait, when you hover the mouse over his listing in the Worker List window.
  550.
  551. BDO Worker List Button BDO Worker Level Experience
  552. Access the Worker List window by clicking the Pickaxe icon in the top left of the screen.
  553.
  554. When a worker builds up enough experience points, he gains a level. He keeps gaining levels up to level 30. At level 30, he continues to build experience, but it caps at 100% until it is used up in skill resets. Skill resets cost 50% of the EXP bar, allowing you to build up enough experience to reset skills again later.
  555.
  556. Benefits of Leveling Workers:
  557. Leveling a worker is important because each level he earns gives him more Workspeed, Movement Speed, and Luck. His level also determines how many skills he can use. He earns a new skill at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30. At his final 30th level, he can begin to reset skills to try for ones that matter to you. Level is also important in determining if you have successful promotions to upgrade a worker’s grade/tier, with higher levels giving better luck. Another benefit of higher worker level is a higher worker sale price.
  558.
  559. Worker EXP Formula: EXP = Job time(Minutes)*1.2 + 10
  560.
  561. +1
  562. Getting that Special Someone to Level 30 Faster:
  563. You can level workers faster on 1 tick (5 minute) repeating craft jobs. For example, crafting junk crates in 5 minute jobs would earn better experience than gathering iron ore at a distant node (even if it only takes 10 minutes to complete). At a certain point, around the 45 minute job time mark, distance and job time fails to matter. So a 1 hour repeating work cycle will level workers about the same as one 3 hour work cycle clear across the nation.
  564.
  565. Helpful Worker Leveling Facts
  566. for levels 1 up to 12, all grades require the same EXP
  567. at level 12+, higher tier workers require more EXP
  568. after hitting max level 30, all tiers require the same EXP (30,000 EXP) for skill resets

  613. we get only 3 total promotions per worker (1 at levels 10, 20, and 30)
  614. promotions can be stacked and saved up until level 20 or even longer for better odds. Level 30 has the best odds, but requires significant time investment.
  615. successful promotion rerolls the worker, resetting all stats and removing all previous skills
  616. promotion lowers a worker’s level to 1, but raises the grade by 1 improving base starting stats of Work Speed, Movement Speed, Luck, and Stamina
  617. promotion opens up the possibility of newer and better worker skills
  618. What are the chances of a successful promotion?
  619. Here is a table from an anonymous BDO player, showing Worker Promotion chances. It hasn’t been verified or tested. As with all things BDO, your luck may vary. 🙂 As far as I am aware, no one has published any other significant promotion data. If you have some promotion tests that you would like published, please let me know!
  620.
  621. Promotion Test Level 10 Success Level 20 Success Level 30 Success
  622. Normal to Skilled Promotion 35% 55% 80%
  623. Skilled to Professional Promotion 25% 35% 45%
  624. Professional to Artisan Promotion 10% 20% 30%
  625.
  626. How to Promote:
  627. Workers can be promoted through the Worker List window. You open this by clicking on the Pickaxe icon on the top left of your screen.
  628.
  629. BDO Worker List Button BDO Worker Promotion
  630. The promotion icon looks like a badge and has a hover tip labeled Prom. If a worker isn’t busy and has 1+ promotions, the icon will be highlighted. The number is the number of promotions you have already been awarded.
  631.
  632. BUYING WORKER PROMOTIONS WITH PEARLS
  633. The promotion process takes 24 hours to complete. The clock runs down and eventually completes even if you’re logged off. But if you want to see the results of your promotion attempt early, then you can spend real money to instantly complete a worker promotion. The cost starts at 290 Pearls ($2.90) and lowers as time passes.

  637. Buying & Selling Workers Overview (Worker Exchange Tips)
  638. more unspent promotions = greater value
  639. higher worker level = more value
  640. greater worker grade = more value
  641. max silver value of workers is about 13.5 million silvers (level 30 Artisan Worker)
  642. Basics of How to Find and Use the Worker Exchange:
  643. Workers can be bought and sold at the <Work Supervisor> located in most towns and cities. Find him by pressing the NPC Finder button at the top right of the screen, then click the pickaxe icon labeled Worker. This will create an auto-path and you can press T to auto run there. Talk to the Work Supervisor (R) and click the Worker Exchange button. From this Worker Exchange screen, you can both buy and sell workers for silver.
  644.
  645. BDO Worker Exchange
  646. BUYING WORKERS VIA WORKER EXCHANGE
  647. To purchase a worker click the Hire button next to the one that you want to purchase. You must have one free lodging, enough silver, and have visited the worker’s city before. The Worker Exchange window might be empty if there are currently no workers available, which often happens. When there are available workers listed, then it’s usually an assortment of cheap Skilled workers that might have some promotions and Professional workers that have no promotions left. (You will also see allot of low level Artisan workers located in Kamasylvia.) Before buying, take note of the number next to Promotion #. (A level 20 with Promotion # 0 means a player attempted and failed to promote twice. So only one promotion attempt remains. If you do purchase the worker, you will have to wait until he reaches level 30 to try and promote him again.)
  648.
  649. Cheap Workers for Beginners and the Poor:
  650. Cheap but unpromotable workers at the Worker Exchange are nice for players that are just starting out. You can obtain a level 30 Professional with no promotions left for 2.6 million silver. The most expensive workers are Artisans. and it’s extremely rare to find a low level one outside of the high level region of Kamasylvia. Most Human/Goblin/Giant Artisans on Worker Exchange are fully leveled for maximum return on the seller’s investment of time and energy (they cost about 13.5 million silver). These fully leveled Artisans are bought up fast.
  651.
  652. Tips for Buying at the Worker Exchange
  653. make sure you have 1 unused lodging space in the worker’s city
  654. have up to 13.5 million silver. (Silver is directly withdrawn from the bank where the Work Supervisor NPC is from, or you must have it in your inventory.)
  655. “Exploration Node is not registered.” error after clicking the Hire button means you haven’t visited and explored that worker’s origin city yet, so you can’t purchase a worker for that city
  656. BDO Worker Registration Exploration Node
  657. you don’t have to travel to a worker’s city to purchase him from his local Worker Exchange. You can purchase him from any Work Supervisor in any location as long as you have discovered that city
  658. for beginners and poor folk, look for high level cheap buys with no promotions left (when you have more energy, you can roll for a chance to win Professional or Artisan grade)
  659. there is a 10 minute delay after someone registers a worker, which allows players to race to the Work Supervisor when a trade alert for an Artisan Worker is displayed
  660. Turn on Worker Registration Alerts by pressing Esc » Settings » General » Alerts
  661. BDO Worker Exchange Alert
  662. WORKER REGISTRATION (SELLING WORKERS)
  663. You can actually earn silver by selling your workers within the Worker Exchange. But keep in mind that leveling the most profitable workers takes time and energy. Getting that special skill he really needs can take even longer. If you’re selling a 13.5 million silver Artisan, the Worker Exchange will take 4 million silver and leave you with only 9.45 million silver.
  664.
  665. Collect your earnings from worker sales by visiting the Work Supervisor and clicking Worker Exchange » My Registrations » Collect Money
  666.
  667. Register a worker by visiting the Work Supervisor and clicking Worker Exchange » Register.
  668.
  669. Worker Registration Tips (Worker Selling Tips)
  670. “Insufficient Action Points” means the worker needs to be fed. If you’re using beer and he only needs 1 Action Point (aka Stamina) you have to manually force the beer by right clicking the beer icon next to his portrait instead of the Recover All button which doesn’t over-feed workers and will not apply a 2 Stamina beer to a worker that only needs 1 Stamina.
  671. “Working” means the worker is busy in the middle of the work cycle and can’t be sold until he stops working. Hit his cancel button to clear his work que and try again later
  672. you can’t cancel a registration immediately. You must wait 10 minutes after he is made public to cancel. Meaning you have to wait 20 minutes total to cancel after your registration. Another buyer can steal him during a 10 minute window he is on the exchange, so be careful submitting someone for sale
  673. you must visit the worker’s city and talk to the Work Supervisor there to sell. (you can’t register for sale a Heidel worker in Velia.)
  674. Worker Exchange will take 30% of the sale cost even with a Value Pack buff on.
  675. keep in mind it takes about 35 days to level an Artisan from level 1 to level 30.

  681. 1 innate additional worker skill. (+8 total skills possible)
  682. Uses up 500 Amity (costs 15 to 20 energy to obtain)
  683. Named workers can’t be moved from their home city listed on the contract
  684. 1 lodging is required per named worker
  685. can have multiple of the same named workers (have to rebuild 500 Amity for each one purchased)
  686. Named workers are ready for the taking as long as you butter them up with energy first. 🙂 Each has an Amity requirement of 500, which you will need spare energy on hand to obtain. (usually about 15 to 20 energy) Make sure you already have most of the named worker’s preferred knowledge topics. After you get 500 amity points, you will have the option to purchase a contract from him for 15-20k silver.

  688. BDO Named Amity Worker: Jugruta BDO Named Amity WorkerBDO Named Amity Worker
  689. A word of caution. I wouldn’t invest too heavily into obtaining named workers. They have stats comparable to Skilled workers even though their names are highlighted as Professional.
  690.
  691. Do a careful comparison. For long term investment, you might want to focus more on obtaining Artisans with skills you desire. There are, however, a few popular named worker choices. Bravant is popular because he has an extra skill that gives 3x mineral crates per work cycle for 3x the ingredients. But most important is his connection to Trent, which many players like because of the distance bonus for trade crates from Trent to Valencia. Jugruta has a timber crate buff, but his profit potential is less than Bravant’s because he’s connected to Heidel.

  784. EMINENT’S NODE NETWORKS AND WORKER EMPIRES GUIDE
  785. Worker empires are one of the most important (yet least understood) aspects of the game. Having a solid empire is extremely crucial for lifeskillers, and it should not be ignored.
  786.
  787. There is no best node network. If you simply copied a top player’s network you would be making a big mistake.
  788.
  789. Node networks are fluid, and should be tweaked and changed depending on your own playstyle and goals. Just as your own goals change, your network should change as well.
  790.
  791. Your network should be built on two criteria:
  792.
  793. Usefulness
  794. Silver
  795. In that order.
  796.
  797. In many ways, usefulness ends up being silver. For processing, usefulness means getting nodes that provide valuable wood/ore that you will use to make huge sums of money. For trade, usefulness means a connection to the desert which will let you sell crates or fish for enormous profit. For cooking, usefulness means getting cereals that will let you make beer to feed your workers.
  798.
  799. Only after you get your “usefulness” nodes should you begin focusing on silver nodes. Silver nodes are the ones that give you materials that will end up going straight to the marketplace. For example, the honey node on Alejandro Farm. For cooks this is an extremely valuable resource, but even if you’re not going to cook it can net you 1m+ silver per day if you list it on the market.
  800.
  801. DETERMINING WHAT NODES ARE USEFUL
  802. For this you need a have an actual goal. I’m not talking about a “I want top 5 in every lifeskill” type of goal, I mean short term. Something you are working towards right now.
  803.
  804. If you are trying to raise your alchemy level, you’ll probably want to get the sunrise herb and silver azalea nodes. These are the secondary ingredients in reagents which you’ll probably be making a lot of.
  805.
  806. If you are a cook you will want to get every single cereal node, as well as the olvia grape node. In addition, you probably want to get some dried fish nodes off the epheria coast in order to get fish/seafood for imperial cooking.
  807.
  808. If you are processing 5+ hours a day, you should get wood/ore nodes that are valuable with the current market. I can’t tell you which ones are the best profit for processing because markets change.
  809.
  810. If you have Artisan 2 trade and you’re processing, you should get nodes that give materials for the crates that you want to make.
  811.
  812. If you are farming you will probably want to get farms instead of more nodes…that one’s kind of straight forward.
  813.
  814. Horse training you’ll want to invest your CP in a horse ranch (not really a node).
  815.
  816. There are a million things in the game that require CP, and you will never have enough for all of them. This is why your network requires constant change — so it can evolve to your current needs.
  817.
  818. I don’t know your personal situation, so you’ll have to study your options a bit and figure out what is best for you.
  819.
  820. NODES FOR SILVER
  821. The majority of silver your network brings you will be from turning your resources into other things. Cereals are only valuable because they make beer, dried fish are only valuable because you can make fried fish boxes. That said, even the highest level processor could never process all of the materials he brings in.
  822.
  823. You’re going to have an excess of materials, so you should probably make sure that excess is going to be things that sell well.
  824.
  825. Tools to Help you Find Valuable Nodes
  826.
  827. Black Desert Analytics: – Balzor’s research on Nodes. Helpful Node spreadsheet and lots of good info here.
  828. BDOdae – Dae has done some great work on node and recipe tools.
  829. GrumpyG’s Node Investment Calculator: calculates total CP, silver/day, silver/CP, and worker variables.
  830. Feel free to play with all of these helpful tools. Input your own values for each node. It will be a fairly annoying task, but it will probably be extremely valuable to you.
  831.
  832. CONNECTING NODES
  833. There are many elements to the game that make it desirable to have the world connected. It may seem like a straightforward task, but you should put some thought into the path you take to connect cities and nodes.
  834.
  835. BDO Node Connection Map
  836.
  837. This is the southern Calpheon region. There are many ways to connect this region, and a lot of it ends up being a stylistic choice.
  838.
  839. A lot of people cut Longleaf Sentry Post and Crioville, and instead connect Trent and Behr through the northern nodes that have more resources available. It costs a bit more CP, but you get valuable resources from them instead of 4 CP on a connection.
  840.
  841. Some people cut the connection going south from Calpheon starting at Gabino Farm, and instead connect from the right down through Keplan.
  842.
  843. A lot of people connect Calpheon to Heidel through Delphe Knights Castle instead of down through Glish the way I did it.
  844.
  845. In fact, if you study that connection enough you’ll realize that by doing the previous two suggestions I would save 3 CP. I want to say all that was just for an example, but I realized my inefficiency while writing this page. It goes to show that no matter how much you work on your network, you’re probably still not doing it right.
  846.
  847. The main purpose of this section is to show how many different ways there are to go about connecting cities. An important thing to realize though is that every single connection requires CP, so before going after a resource just because it’s valuable, take note of how many connections it takes to get to it (it might just not be as valuable as you think).
  848.
  849. On the other hand, sometimes the cheapest route from one city to another might not be the best. If there is a second route that has twice as many materials along the way, perhaps it’s better to connect via the more expensive path.
  850.
  851. In the end, these are all decisions you’re going to have to make yourself, and it’s going to take a lot of thought and effort to get it right.
  852.
  853. WORKERS
  854. After getting your nodes all set up, it’s time to think about the workers (actually it would have been real nice if you thought about workers before now).
  855.
  856. Learn the intricacies of workers, workload, and their skills. Go over like 3 times until you understand it all.
  857.
  858. Worker Guides that Explain Worker Stats and Work Time Influences:
  859. Black Desert Analytics: good description of Workers & Workload, awesome job at data gathering!
  860. Saarith Gaming: Another good worker overview explaining Workload, Distances, etc
  861. GrumpyGreen’s Worker Guide: Worker Skills Tool to find and sort the best skills. Workload, distance, and worker stat explanations.
  862. It’s important to realize that your network is going to be basically crippled without good workers. If you have mostly green/blue workers, you’re bringing in very little.
  863.
  864. When you are new to the game it is totally acceptable to hire skilled workers (but I would never hire a green).
  865.
  866. However, once you have a worker on every node, I would immediately start working on rolling for professional and artisan workers. Until every single one of your workers are professional/artisan, you shouldn’t be spending your energy on anything but rolling workers.
  867.
  868. The long term benefits you’ll get by having a solid army of slaves workers by far outweighs what you’ll gain from spending your energy elsewhere.
  869.
  870. If you roll artisans, you’re lucky. The majority of the time, however, you’ll probably be stuck with professionals. In that case you should level them up to 20. At 20+ you should begin doing promotion tests for them.
  871.
  872. BDO Human Node Worker
  873. Advice on Worker Upgrades and Promotions:
  874. Every 24 hours you can do a promotion test for a worker. A worker gets a chance to take the test every 10 levels (so at 10, 20, 30) for a total of 3 tests.
  875.
  876. It was datamined (although not yet confirmed through extensive testing) that workers have a higher chance to pass their promotion test if they are a higher level. For that reason, we wait until 20 (rather than 10) to take our first test.
  877.
  878. “But why don’t we just wait until 30 then?”
  879.
  880. The reason for that is because level 30 takes a very very very long time. In the end, it is completely not worth the effort to wait that long.
  881.
  882. After the worker hits 20 you can take 2 tests. If it succeeds — Congratulations! You now have an artisan worker. If it fails both tests, however, you fire it (or sell).
  883.
  884. It’s faster to roll a new worker and level it to 20 again than it is to keep that worker around until 30, so just fire it. This is a process that you will repeat a huge number of times.
  885.
  886. If you have a large node network (70-100+) workers….and you can only take 1 test per day….and there’s no guarantee that your worker will pass….
  887.
  888. Well you get the idea, it’s going to take a long time to get an army of all artisan workers. With that in mind, you should make sure that you are promoting a worker every single day.
  889.
  890. Worker Promotion Guide – detailed data about worker promotions and chances
  891. Once you get a worker that is the correct rarity and race (often that means Artisan Goblin), you can roll for skills in order to build super workers. This means 150 Work Speed goblins on nodes, and advanced packers in Trent or Kamasylvia.
  892.
  893. Worker Skills Guide – detailed data about worker skill resetting and a handy Worker Skill Tool
  894. All of this might seem overwhelming, but it’s not something that you need to put all of your effort into right now. Workers are a process that you slowly build up over months and months of playing.
