  1. Ok. It's past time I dealt directly with the vulgarities in the room. I've allowed the rules to be vague as we experiment with limits, the increased freedom we wish to allow in #RebelYell.  By now it's clear unrestrained filthy language is damaging to the room. It incites negative emotion, it provokes anger and resentment, it is not supportive at all of either friendly socializing or serious discussion of difficult topics. So, from now on: PLEASE Keep the vulgarities WAY DOWN. First eruption gets a warning. Ignore that and the second vulgarity gets a kick with a warning (public reminder to all that vulgarities are not encouraged), 3rd offense (over a short time - not over hours we can't be sniffing around for bad words but within reason - some judgement called for here) devoicing, or kick with short ban - say 20 minutes or so, depending on the intention and the vileness of the speech. Remember - YOU may only say one word or one joke, but if others have been degrading the scroll that could be the camel's last straw. "Free Speech" never was intended to mean completely unrestrained vulgarities - we all KNOW it means freedom of political/religious/cultural opinion and discussion. Don't take this personally, bad language has a tendency of overtaking ideas and undermining careful reasoning, not to mention destroying sympathetic communication. Please help me with this - don't remind me that I am a repeat offender! OH--!

  3. One last thing - the classic words that nobody else allows, and we can't either, they're simply too damaging to further discussion: the nword, and the two male/female cwords. UNTIL we get an auto-ban bot, those words will justify an immediate kick and ban, op's discretion. It's everybody's room, even young men with sensitive ears and feelings.
